I had the chicken. Imagine every incredible smell of Santa Fe infused into a meal
I have eaten here countless times. Always perfect
Always one of my favorite places. Returning next week
Only complaint: ordered 2 bottles of a particular wine: only 1 left in the cellar.
Ordered the 2nd on the recommendation of the sommelier - just did not match up to the 1st - oh well....
Great dinner with dear friends.
We had another terrific meal at The Compound. The lamb shank was especially good. Their sommelier, Kristina, does an amazing job pairing wine to our meals. Thank you for another great evening.
Great as usual The outdoor courtyard was just lovely at lunchtime
Had my birthday dinner here and couldn't have asked for anything better. The service was amazing and everyone was so nice and made it special. A must try in Santa Fe!
My wife and I chose The Compound for our anniversary dinner after reading reviews and talking with some locals about the best place for a fantastic dining experience. We were completely satisfied with the broad choices on the menu, the extensive wine list, and the service. Our waiter Armando was extremely attentive, and gave us menu item reviews, along with advice and recommendations on the wine to pair with our 1st and second courses. The desert was just as nice, with special attention to it being our anniversary. This is a place I will ALWAYS dine, when we return to Santa Fe.
Food and service were great. Reservation made for in restaurant dining, but put on covered patio. Seating was not as comfortable and as temperature dropped it was not comfortable because heater closest to us was shut down because another guest seated before we arrives said she was too hot. They did not turn the heater back on when we requested it.
food was outstanding, good wine
service was outstanding
Outside with no heaters made a brisk evening meal. food was good but pork chop was overcooked. Service was good, although we waited a long time for the main course. Mark up on wine is high. It’s a nice restaurant, always has been one of my favorites but it’s nothing extraordinary.
An incredible experience! I've been here before but this night was date night on the patio for my husband and I. We were thrilled with the cozy, beautiful seating on the back patio, right at sunset. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and wonderfully easy to talk to. As always, Chef Kiffin created an impeccable menu, filled with decadent delights. We loved each course, each drink, and every minute. Highly recommend - best dinner I've had in months! Gorgeous setting!
Always delicious and a beautiful night outside. Our server was superb too!!
Great staff and service. Hard working people. Wait staff was excellent.
Overall not bad. Portions to price point, Portions down and price up compared to other restaurants. Server asked if we wanted a side then forgot it all together. Not gluten free friendly, big let down as one of us has celiac!!! Not a preference as suggested when ordering. What's up with no special. Last thing, table set after was served first. But it the little things like running out of water in my glass, no follow up (how is it) and forgetting items recommendation that ruined our experience.
Very friendly staff always asking if we needed anything. The food was simply amazing, great wine and drink selection.
The most beautiful place for a Fall lunch in SF.. Kudos to Mark Kiffin andstaff
Even though we had reservations we were shunted into a very undesirable table. Most tables were kept aside for favorite guests.
Would not return ..Beautiful setting..Decent food ,excellent desserts ..Poor group wait staff...
Outdoor space was welcoming and pretty. Recommend the foie gras and lobster bucatini. Bonus they have their own parking lot so you don’t have to hunt for parking!
Delicious food, beautiful outdoor patio dining in autumn.
Lovely outdoor dining
We felt the tables were too close. We were under the awning next to the building. Have sat in the courtyard area twice and were much more comfortable with the spacing of the seats.
Excellent food and service as always!
Compound is a classic always fabulous restaurant
Waiter was not well trained, forgot my order (did not bring root vegetable salad I ordered) and then was defensive about it. We asked for olive oil 3x and they finally brought it. Asked several different wait staff. The warm bread was then cold and I had to ask for another warm roll. I had the wild salmon, there was something on the dish I didn’t recognize and wanted to know what it was, waiter never bothered to return with the answer. It was very dark on the patio and difficult to see your food.
We always have a great meal and great service at The Compound but this Monday everything was up to par except my meal. I ordered the Tuna Nicoise and I requested it to be cooked medium rare w/dressing on the side. The oil that the tuna was cooked in had a terrible taste, the string beans were like rubber and the potatoes were not cooked. It is not the usual quality of food we are used to from the Compound.
Best spot in Santa Fe for a nice meal. Greet outdoor dining. 10’s across the board.
Enjoyable but not as special as we had hoped.
Service seemed basic. Waiter seemed intent on selling bottled water and doing his job with little flourish. When asked if I could have protein with the pricey polenta entree- "Oh no, we cant adjust the chefs recipe." It reminds me of a celebrity chef restaurant I never went back to in another city. I certainly understood once I saw the dish presentation. We will probably return sometime due to spaciousness of the dining spaces but it fell a bit flat.
I know people love “the favorites here” and it is difficult to change it up during COVID and all the strain that brings but I would love to see new direction to the menu and specials to add to the accomplishments of the past. I see that happening at El Nido and Geranimo and even SantaCafe. Just trying to be encouraging. Much appareciated.
The food was fantastic. Just curious why the online question is asked about “is it a special event”...I wrote that it was our anniversary. The waiter didn’t know nor offered an appetizer or dessert for our event..
This was our 14th Wedding Anniversary, the evening was perfect. The food was amazing as well as the beverages. One of my new favorites.
The meal was excellent and the service personable, albeit a bit of a wait getting our meal. However, we ate out outside and it was so cold once the sun went down that we skipped dessert and headed home. I was surprised they did not have heaters on the patio. I understand that blankets are difficult to manage in times of Covid, but they need to do something for customers who would rather eat outside.
We'll return very soon... loved everything about this place!
Absolutely beautiful outdoor patio with tables spaced far apart. Lobster salad was delicious. Wonderful efficient service. Can’t wait to go back
Fabulous experience, celebrating a dear friend's 60th birthday. Couldn't have picked a prettier, more scrumptious setting. Food was fabulous.
Two things I'd like to comment on, though, that prevent me from having a totally perfect memory....
I had to ASK for the bar menu. I made the reservation largely based on the terrific options there, and felt I was being driven to order from the main restaurant menu. I'm guessing not everyone knows about the lesser-priced bar menu, and obviously you make more money with people ordering off of the main dinner menu.
Secondly.... we were offered Chanterelle mushrooms as substitutes for the wild mushrooms in the delicious polenta dish, but I was a bit stunned to find out when the bill came that there was a 15.00 UPCHARGE PER PERSON!!! My bad for not asking, but the server did you a terrible PR dis-service by not disclosing this major cost difference. Even wealthy patrons shouldn't be treated as dummies about money.
Two things I value greatly, choice and transparency. The Compound failed here, and I'll definitely dine with you again, but will not trust the server to have my best interests at heart.
Great food great service The Compound never disappoints
We love The Compound fir lunch and dinner...Mark creates the most interesting and delicious choices on the menu all beautifully plated.
Excellent dining experience at a table in the garden - a perfect evening!
Just love this Resturant. Can’t wait for the bar to open up for seating !!!
Overpriced, waitress was not friendly but worth the experience. Food was plated fairly.
