Stoic & Genuine
Bit crowded and loud. Expected, small place with amazing food. 2nd time here, and will come back when next in Denver
This was the first time at the restaurant and had a good time. The food was very good and the staff was excellent. What we didn't like was that there was no intimacy. Tables were small and there were families on both sides of us so we couldn't really talk. We really liked the staff though. Very friendly.
Best oysters and fish in Denver.
Sustainable sea food is a big big plus
Food was all excellent. Oysters and broccoli salad were outstanding.
We met friend who was visiting from out of town. It was central meeting point and worked well. Got a bit noisy but still manageable
First time at S and G. Good food and service. Enjoyed the Opah, scallops very much. The lobster roll not so much. Specialty drinks were fun. Definitely a return for the future.
Great food and people
The food is refined with great flavors. If you are looking for interesting food this is a great choice.
Really enjoyed our dinner for four on Saturday night. We ate outside, where it was quiet (except for some guy on a John Deere sweeper or trash truck that rumbled slowly right by our table every 30 minutes). Food was terrific, with unobtrusive yet attentive service. We'll definitely be back!
I would have given the service 5 stars but our server forgot to mention the specials to us. We only noticed it she told the table next to us. Fortunately we would not have chosen the special but that was a notable miss. Other than that the everything else was excellent.
Favorite restaurants in Colorado
Great food, great staff, and fun location. Especially good patio seating on a nice day.
Stoic & Genuine is THE "special occasion" restaurant for my partner and me! This time, we were celebrating our 3-year anniversary. The service was amazing as usual - they went the extra mile to make us feel special with a complimentary dessert for the occasion. Our server, Joel, was perfect - he was always very timely when checking on us, but never made us feel intruded upon. The food was also outstanding as it always is, with the exception of the broccoli salad which was meh. But the oysters and salmon crudo were delicious, as were our entrees - I had the fish special which was a whole grilled branzino, and my partner had the lobster roll - YUM!! And of course we had the corn bread which goes perfectly with everything.
Whenever I hear of anyone looking for a seafood restaurant in Denver, I recommend Stoic & Genuine - I love seafood, and every seafood dish I've ordered there tastes fresh (so it probably is!), and is impeccably prepared.
Overall was disappointed with the menu limited options. The mussels were excellent.
Sat outside lovely
Great food/service! One of the best seafood spots in Denver!
I really like good cuisine in a nice atmosphere. Knowing that this was an expensive restaurant, I put on a dress and was really excited. Walked into a no white tablecloth restaurant with people who were sitting there in flip flops. The atmosphere didn't feel polished in any way... Actually felt like a glorified cafeteria.
While waiting for friends I asked for a martini straight up. Every restaurant knows straight up means no vermouth. After waiting approximately 20 minutes for my drink, there was vermouth in it. As the waiter told me they use their signature vermouth in it, I wondered why they would put vermouth when I clearly didn't want it. Took another 15 minutes to get my drink because there was a large order ahead of me... Really???
I ordered oysters from the East coast that were just okay. A friend ordered corn bread which looked and tasted like what you'd expect from Pepperidge Farms. The broccoli salad was very good. My main course of char and vegetables was very good.
From what people told me about this place I was disappointed. The food and the experience is definitely not worth the price tag of $175/couple.
Great meal, drinks and especially service. Impeccable.
We enjoyed some of the Happy Hour offerings, including some delicious tempura shrimp and Thai green curry mussels - the rich, spicy broth was everyone's favorite taste. Our entrees included the cod & chips, scallops, and the dayboat fish - halibut, in this case, with another excellent sauce and well-composed, tasty meals for everyone.
Great food and ambience as usual. And, our waitress was fabulous. Highly recommended.
Stoic & Genuine is our favorite place in Denver. Great oysters, wine and seafood. We make a point to being our out of town visitors here for a fab meal and it never disappoints.
Always fresh and delicious! Great meal, atmosphere and service.
Loved how prompt the service was! It got a little loud like all restaurants do in Denver, that’s inevitable in any nice eatery. I ordered crab legs, they were great for the most part, perhaps slightly over cooked (however I’m spoiled I come from R.I. where the main industry is fishing so I’m very particular about my seafood). My waitress was wonderful! She showed up when she needed to and paid very close attention to her area, but also allowed us to eat peacefully. My guest and I were very interested in the ambiance. We appreciated the giant octopus and general feel of this beautiful restaurant inside of the rustic train station. Thank you for your service! We stayed for two and a half hours.
Great food - the Opa and the halibut were really delicious - best ever. Waitress was a little pushy with the house cocktails rather than listen to what we wanted. Great food, funky atmosphere that I am not sure compliments the food.
Always amazing, every course and sip!
Been to Stoic & Genuine a number of times, and returned with friends because I have found it to be outstanding. While service and ambiance continue to be fine, this time was a mixed bag regarding the food.
Malpeque oysters were fantastic, including all the brine...your shuckers are the best I know.
Corn soup...2 of 3 had it...mediocre at best.
Halibut...good, but could have been cooked about a minute or two less...more dry than I like.
Monkfish special...very good, prepared very well.
Lobster roll...very good.
Rye Manhattan...just right.
Dutton Ranch Chardonnay...yummy & just right for our rich seafood dishes.
Amazing food & ambiance!
The shrimp cocktail from the raw bar that we ordered could have been a little fresher. It was slightly fishy which was a bit of a turn off, and I was surprised that was the case from such a high end seafood restaurant.
Wonderful service. Unique and delicious food. Worth every penny!
The food is outstanding. I ordered the broccoli salad and scallops. Fantastic! Others at our table ordered the lobster role and the halibut. Neither dishes disappointed. Also, the cornbread is wonderful. We sat on the patio on a lovely night and although the patio was full and the noise level was somewhat high, we were still able to converse easily. Service was a bit slow but perhaps to be expected in a busy restaurant.
Great food, great sercice. Loved our evening. Would highly recomend this place for a nice evening.
We celebrated our anniversary without a sitter, and had our 8 and 9 year old with us. The staff made it special for our entire family. It is not advertised as kid friendly, so we were worried, but they could not have made our kiddos feel more welcomed.
Kept finding shell pieces in my oyster.
The oysters were amazing and they still have my favorite dessert: a coconut lime popsicle dipped in wonderful dark chocolate - YUM! I could eat those every day because they are dairy-free and delicious.
Our waiter once again was Carl who is always very helpful and makes excellent suggestions.
Great They want me to lengthen my review. Ugggg. They still want more. Ugggg.

O. No. I don’t want to lengthen my review.
Nice seafood place in Union Station. I enjoyed my dinner - a special peach, tomato, and burrata salad and the halibut off the menu. Son, hubby, and I shared the cornbread (very good) and the elote corn. The guys ordered the fish and chips which they said was good, but there was only one piece of fish on the plate and thought there should have been more. I also expected a few daily specials, but the only entree special was the daily dayboat catch. I think that if you really like oysters, you would love this place. They had a number of different oysters on special in addition to those on the menu.
