The brunch menu and Sandy our waitress were the visit.
Good food, good service in comfortable surroundings.
We had an amazing time as always and Sandy was superb.
All excellent with the exception of extremely loud patron behind me, and distracting children adjacent from our table. So loud I could not hear my wife across the table from me. I chose RP for the ambience and atmosphere, and with that I was disappointed.
The Rusty pelican is a gem. Great ambience and delicious food. Highly recommend this restaurant. We will surely be back!
This experience was better than the last. I took my husband here for brunch for our anniversary. We had such a personal experience with Esmeralda and she helped us have a great dining experience from the beginning. Great food and ambiance. Will continue to return again and again.
Sunday Brunch with unlimited mimosas - excellent! Plenty of champagne in the mimosas; in fact, I had to add some OJ to them. Excellent service by Ashley. Beautiful view and not too crowded. Comfortable seating. Buffet was adequate - made to order omelets very good; grits, creamy and tender. Crab legs a bit soggy/not too flavorful but shrimp were plump and easy to clean. Great horseradish for the cocktail sauce - nasal cleanser! But make sure to order the chicken with waffles - chicken is perfect - juicy, not overcrusted, soft waffle (no crunch) with apricot syrup (warm) - the best! Overall, buffet is adequate - didn't get to try too much because I couldn't move away from the chicken with waffles.
Previously, we were regulars for brunch but this last visit Sunday will be our last. They raised the cost several dollars and cut the food offerings DRASTICALLY to a point that we were insulted-1/4 amount the usual food choices! They moved into smaller room (hoping no one would notice reductions??) Sausage was fatty and greasy-was so bad, had to throw it away. Shockingly, they still had ahi tuna, shrimp, crab legs and oysters, but reduced salads, and had AWFUL pastries which consisted of cheap, disgusting looking DONUTS and dry mini pastries seemingly from sams club not freshly made. No more assortment of pies or cakes/cheesecakes like in past. $45/person and you insult us by serving fast food garbage??? We could go on, but are downright IRATE! They no longer deserve our business. Good bye!!!
Took my wife here for our anniversary and let me tell you, the food the scenery and the live piano playing was a perfect place for a romantic. Also the table i had reserved was a window looking at the sunset, and the ocean water. Will be coming here more often.
We visited the restaurant for our 10 yr wedding anniversary...Josh was our waiter and he did a fantastic job at making sure we had a great time/meal! I ordered a drink from the bar and asked to switch out the basil for cilantro, which took some leg work for Josh to get from the kitchen and take to the bar. But he did not hesitate with my request and brought the drink out timely and with a smile. Dinner was fantastic and dessert was even better! Josh even went above and beyond and brought out a dessert for us and happily took a picture for us to remember our special night. Thank you Josh and the rest of the staff at Rusty Pelican for making our 10 yr anniversary dinner a little extra special!
Our local gem! It’s a go to place for friends and occasions. Never disappointed in our experience
Had a lunch meeting here. Great location right on the water with very pleasing views. I think it is quite a large facility-it looked like there were meeting rooms to the side of the hosts stand. Not wild about the carpet in the dining room- the plan is probably due for a renovation. Service was good and our salads were tasty.
Wonderful ambience, excellent steak!
Our waiter, Josh, was excellent. Very helpful with recommendations. He made our night!!
Josh was a great and friendly server. We were in town for work and took advantage of fitting in a date night. Josh made the experience great with his knowledge of the menu and his pleasantness. Food was delicious too! Oysters were amazing!
Our server Josh ensured we had a great experience. Attentive & spot on with service. We had a great view of the water and fireplace too!
Great service and food
Wrong food... Charred/burnt over cooked steak. Bland seafood broth dish. Ambiance . excellent.... That's it
Nice venue, off the beaten path a bit. Food pretty good. My tuna was a bit stringy, and not much drizzle on plate for flavor. So, fairly plain overall. Sides good.
Lindsay, our server was outstanding! Friendly and knowledgable! Great recommendations on the starters... fried oysters and scallops were delicious. Coconut shrimp salad was equally as yummy!
Loved the sunset!
We arrived early and they hostess was very pleasant and accommodating. She gave us a table with a view. The service was excellent and the food spor on.
We were in search of a waterfront Brunch spot when a friend recommended the Rusty Pelican to us. The restaurant is tucked at the very end of this small local road but it is definitely worth the drive. We did make a reservation and I highly recommend it. You do not necessarily need a window seat to enjoy the great waterfront view, however we did not know this so we did end up waiting a little longer to get the window table. Their brunch menu has a nice variety so it is a great place to go for group meals. Our server was new to the Tampa area from Myrtle beach and he was excellent. The food was great, the atmosphere wonderful and even though there is a 2 hour limit for brunch I never felt as if I was being watched or timed. We will definitely be back! Also you can't really go wrong with bottomless mimosas.
The staff and manager were top notch. The food was excellent. Small mishap with the kitchen but overall it was an amazing visit.
Been here many times, and it is my favorite. One of the rare restaurants outstanding in all ways where you can also see pelicans dive and catch fish as we did again.
We really enjoyed the entire experience: the service, waterfront view, ambiance, piano music and the food was amazing.
Josh was our waiter. I ordered shrimp & grits which I love to try in every state if possible. Hardly no grits!!! The shrimp was great as well as the sauce. When I asked for more grits to compliment the yummy abundance of shrimp, I was told I would be charged. There was about 1/4 cup grits to 8-10 large shrimp. The portion of grits was extremely disproportionate to the amount of shrimp and size of the serving bowl.
Was surprised by the cost of the fish of the day. Sea bass for $49. The waitress did not mention the price which was fine but the sea bass piece was very tiny. I would recommend asking more wuestions if you order it. Not going back.
My daughter and I came for brunch and had a wonderful experience. Staff and food were very good. Already booked a return trip with my husband.
The view, food, and service was wonderful. Great menu selection! We be recommending and re visiting.
As usual, an amazing culinary experience at the Rusty Pelican. The hostess gracefully accommodated our request for a window table with the famously awesome view of the bay. While waiting in the marvelously appointee lobby, I enjoyed a great Old Fashion from the bar. We had a great server (Aman. Ask for him. Trust me!)
My wife absolutely loved the Chilean Sea Bass while I had the filet mignon. Both were cooked to perfection. The wine list was excellent and I enjoyed a lovely Gascon Malbec which was a great pairing with my steak. For dessert my wife enjoyed the Bananas Foster while I enjoyed the Creme Bruleé. Topped off with a great cup of coffee and a pretty neat take home bag.
They can now consider us regulars. There are just too many great selections on the menu to only go there for special occasions. This gem must be on our regular rotation.
Definitely a “must visit” for anyone looking for a an upscale experience in the Tampa Bay Area.
Much too expensive for food offered. Should have been about half the price pp.
The restaurant is very upscale. Beautiful atmosphere right on the water overlooking Tampa Bay. The food is very good and serves a nice portion for the money. The atmosphere is very elegant and high class. This restaurant is a very nice place to take someone for a special occasion.
It was my birthday and my husband forgot to make the reservation for the restaurant I told him too. So I went online and found Rusty Pelican not sure what to expect boy was I impressed. Loved it!!!
I have been going here for years but this time management changed. The last few times I was they were more accommodating.
The special, Chilean Sea Bass, was outstanding. The flaming creme brûlée was presented expertly and tasted amazing. Josh, our server, took a good experience and made it perfect! He's the best!
You can't beat the view or the food here. The bar was a tad raucous due to college football, but that's OK. The setting at The Rusty Pelican is uber classy and elegant.
This wasn't our first or last time here. Brought friends for their first time, however, and they loved it.
Food was bland. I expected much better for the price.
This is the second time my husband and I have brought my visiting parents’ here. The food is always outstanding. The seafood is always fresh and expertly prepared. We had the cobia, stuffed grouper, mixed seafood grill, and scallops. Everyone really enjoyed the complex flavors of their meal. My five year old even claims they have the best cheeseburger in town! And of course there is that view of the bay- can’t beat it!
The ambience at the Rusty Pelican is warm and a little rustic, absolutely amazing. We had a seat right at the window where we could see the sunset and look down on the water-awesome view, complete with fish jumping out of the water at bugs from time to time. The food was delicious and our server was friendly.
