Was overpriced for what it was. I got the short ribs and they were dry and just nothing special.
The food and drink were fantastic! Fresh, great flavor.
Root Down Denver hits the mark in all categories and you won't be disappointed. Food and service are top notch!
We enjoyed a great meal with great service at Root Down. Given that we had 2 vegans and 3 hardcore carnivores, it was a very pleasant surprise to see a diverse menu that executed most of the dishes to perfection. The kid in our group was not only accommodated with a child's menu but was able to make a slight slight change to his dessert, as well. We will definitely return!
Much like the other restaurants in this restaurant group (el five, linger etc) - the food was just okay and overpriced. They try to do too much and haven’t nailed anything. If the prices reflected this, I would be less critical. Really expensive “unique” dishes that are small portions and just okay. You pay for the atmosphere and decor I suppose - and if that’s what you’re looking for there are tons of other great places in the area with reasonably priced, great food (postino, spuntino, bindery and dimestore - are fantastic). Service was great
The Food was incredible. I really appreciate a concise menu, because it helps you commit to something new and exciting, without having so many fall back options.
The server was friendly and attentive.
The atmosphere was jazzy, quirky, and creative.
I highly recommend dining here, but leave yourself time to find parking because it was tough.
Everything was real real nice! Food. Service. Seating. Stefan took great care of us. Experience Root Down.
Awesome service and delicious food! We were celebrating our anniversary and enjoyed going to a place with many gluten free and vegetarian options (they have a GF fryer!) The staff even signed a little card for us and gave us two flutes of Prosecco. Thank you for making our night super special!! We’ll be back next time we’re in the neighborhood! Recommended 100%
Loved the booth in bar
Was told to expect light cook on steak but I found medium a little over cooked. Moscow mule far too sweet.
We went with a party of seven for our daughters’ birthdays. The food was excellent and accommodated a gluten free, dairy free, and vegan diets. We had six cocktails, four small plates, two salads, six large plates and three desserts. All were very flavorful, beautiful presentation, and a great variety. Our waitress was very attentive, professional, and very kind. My only complaint was that is very expensive. Our bill was over $500 with tip.
Wife’s 72nd birthday
Sara our server was amazing! Only complaint was there was nowhere to wait for our table since we were the first reservation and arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation. It was cold and nowhere warm to wait. We had to go to Avanti to keep warm.
Food and service were top shelf!! Thank you so much for a great evening it was my birthday!!
Root Down is the perfect place for everything- a night out--or a special occasion. We celebrated our son's (adult) birthday and have before-at the end of a perfect dinner and service, the decision was made to celebrate at Root Down for all his birthdays--And any other excuse every day!!!!
Terrific food with friendly service. Our meals were beautifully prepared and provided a real treat for the tastebuds. We’ll definitely return.
Our server was very nice, busy place, waited over an hour for our food, then our server and another worker ran into each other and our food went all over the floor! So we waited another 30 mins, the portions are small, food was ok, tried the bottomless mimosas (they were very watered down) the waiter said they have to water them down bc they use a purée… while they ask people to wear masks for health precautions, their bathrooms are over flowing with trash, toilets and sinks were filthy. Not a good experience this time. I fortunately this WAS one of my favorite places…not anymore…
Everything was great!
Great service, great food - the tofu is ridiculously good.
Had the Veggie Sliders, Rockfish Tom Kha, and 36 hour Short Rib. Everything was excellent.
I love this place & I’ve never had a bad meal or poor service. Last evening would have been perfect except for they sat us by a door to an enclosed patio with heaters & every time a waiter opened the door I could feel the cold. Luckily I had a warm scarf to put over my shoulders, I felt very sorry for people sitting on the patio, maybe they were warmer underneath the heaters. Root Down, move that table! Thank you!
You can always find some tasty items at Root Down. A couple of my favorites (the Arepas) changed since the last time I was there, so that was slightly disappointing, but it was still delicious. Desserts are always great too! Service was just a little slow, but we weren't in a rush, so we didn't mind. Our particular server seemed a bit confused with certain questions and with our wine order (almost implying that we didn't understand the menu), but other than that, service was friendly and good.
The converted gas station is so well done in mid-century modern with lovely touches like a retro phone wall and rabbit ear antennas. The menu selection isn't extensive, but just the right number of choices. The lamb burger was perfectly cooked and the Thai curry soup was thick and flavorful with a chutney garnish. My companion had the pork belly and the short rib. Both delicious. The food is innovative, but not over-the-top. All in all we had an excellent meal in an upbeat atmosphere. The parking lot across the street is very convenient. I would recommend Root Down.
One of the best options in Denver for consistent, delicious, allergen friendly cuisine that fits any occasion.
This is a great place for vegan and non vegan friends for any meal. Great selections and I love the zucchini French toast at brunch.
Christmas Eve dinner was outstanding!
Very tasty, all of it, but especially the rockfish tom ka! The rockfish was so so good!
Great food, the rockfish Tom Ka was excellent, great beet salad & really good apple bomb desert.
Chicken was dry and meals/drinks were expensive. Not worth the price
Fantastic brunch safely distanced and outdoors on the patio. Special menu muffins with blueberries and mascarpone frosting were amazing, and huevos rancheros and veggie sliders with sweet potato fries were delicious and very filling. Great service as always. Love Root Down!
Service was impeccable from the moment we walked in the door. Ambience was very hip and eclectic with cross-cultural representation. We loved our almond pancakes and side dishes which were not only delicious, but a feast for the eyes as well. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Denver!
Incredible food and drink but minimal finesse to service. While I appreciate a clean table and course timing, we had multiple plates removed before we were finished with them. This included one being physically removed from someone's hand as they were serving themselves.
The food is good and comes out fast. The flavor combinations can be a bit much at times, overwhelming. Sometimes less is more, but not at Root Down. The appetizers were great, dinner was decent and dessert was unimpressive. Our waitress suggested the apple bombe - don’t order it. It’s insanely sweet and just unenjoyable. Other than that, it’s an enjoyable experience, just be sure to bring your (fat) wallet.
I wrote in my reservation that my friend and I were celebrating her birthday and the staff all signed a card for her and gave us some truffles to celebrate with a candle! It was so thoughtful and really made her night! Also I have a food allergy and everyone was so mindful of that! An all around great experience
Loved the food and decor! Great service from Annie. Very quaint ambiance.
Every plate we ordered from the Bean Salad to the 36 hour short rib was so flavorful!! Highly recommend the scallops, the gnochhi and the short rib!!
The food was fresh, healthy and super tasty. We went on Sunday when they had a price-fixed, three-course meal for $45/person. It was a great steal!
We had a great date night at Root Down, food was delicious. I would describe the plates as tapas style a la carte. I cannot remember our servers name but she was lovely, long brown curly hair in a low pony tail. She was great, once I remember her name I will update. The arepas were a very good deal for price to fullness ratio. We also got the rock fish which was a healthy keto style dish. Pricey overall but worth it for a nice date night.
From the moment we arrived to the time we departed, everything was perfect! Food was great a usual and service was fantastic. We look forward to coming back after the new year.
What a fun devious place to eat before Van Gogh immersion. Perfect date night
Food was amazing and the atmosphere was perfect! No better brunch spot in Denver!!!
Delicious. Like outrageously good and can't describe amazing. The food is incredibly flavorful and intricate.
