Taking its name from the tufted Middle White Boar that dreamt of rebellion, Old Major seeks to follow suit: rebelling against the ideas of what fine dining must be.
Old Major offers lunch, dinner, happy hour and brunch, along with private dining and off-site catering options with dishes starting at $12. The full bar features a creative cocktail program, craft beer & wine.

What Insiders Are Saying
If you’re going to do Old Major, do it for an afternoon happy hour on the patio.
Great ambiance and food was delicious although pricey.
The food was ok. I like the idea of a small menu but what you get and pay for is over priced . Not a great place for lunch for sure and that’s probably why it was empty over priced period.
Nice variety of different meat dishes for brunch and egg sandwiches, waffles and my personal favorite fried chicken and waffles. Great place just overpriced. Living in the neighborhood makes it hard to find a nearby everyday value restaurant. EVERYTHING IS OVERPRICED. But every once in awhile, it’s fine. It’s a great brunch location, especially in warmer weather when the patio and garage doors are open.
We loved everything about Old Major except the steak. We started with drinks and shared the mushroom & lentil soup. The soup was delicious, and we appreciated that it wasn't a heavy, cream-based soup. The sour tomitillos were a nice surprise. Our server brought out some prosecco for us (on the house) when our entrees didn't come out as quickly as he wanted. We didn't really even notice the delay.
I had seen an announcement recently about a new dry-aged steak option, so that's what I ordered. My wife ordered the Nose to Tail dish. Her dish was really amazing. Some of the best ribs I've ever tasted. Meaty bark with unctuous flesh underneath. She would have loved a little more of that butternut puree but hard to complain given how excellent the rest of the dish was.
The steak I received was cooked properly. It was a little gray around the edges, but I thought that might have been from the aging. Unfortunately, I just didn't get any aged beef flavor out of it. This $100 steak just sort of tasted like any average ribeye I could get around town. The other issue was what surrounded it - squash and apples. I don't associate those as flavor enhancers with steak. It just sort of seemed to me like they took a pork dish and substituted steak.
We finished with the chocolate ganache. That beet puree really blew our minds. We love beets and couldn't get over how true to the taste of beets it was. Combined with the sweet orange and chocolate - a fantastic match.
The food was delicious though on the pricier end. Our server was friendly; however, he felt newer and was not as attentive (though they were not busy). We had a group of 8, so perhaps a different server or a smaller group might have been a different experience.
You can't go wrong with everything made in house and fresh! The best fried chicken we've ever had and the pork burger is a mouthful of deliciousness. Highly recommend if you want something thats not traditional.
I took my wife there for her Birthday. Excellent staff and amazing food. I would highly recommend Old Major. We will certainly come back. Very impressive. Thanks Old Major!
Everytime we go to Denver this is a must stop. If you are a foodie, you would love this place. Great cocktails, amazing food and such a cool atmosphere. You can get in and out for $20 a person or if you feel like treating yourself, you can get a well crafted meal for more. I recommend the charcuterie plate to share at all times! Job well done Old Major.
Great little neighborhood restaurant. Excellent octopus and hand made parsley pasta shells! Attentive wait staff!
The food presentation was lovely. I had Alamosa bass, which was delicious, and my companion had the Korean pork ribs, which were very good. The wine was a perfect complement to the meal, and the Happy Hour drinks are very reasonable.
I feel like Old Major is slowly going downhill. It used to be *fabulous*, but the last 3 times we have gone it has been only *meh*. It seems like they have new chefs or something. Last night's meal was ok, but almost ruined by over-saltiness. Great drinks.
Best lunch entree in Denver in the Nashville Hot chicken tacos. Ghost pepper sauce with ranch a little slaw on a small flour tortilla. The new kale salad is a hit as well. I opt for a juicy banger on tap, but their craft cocktails are outstanding.
Great dinner at Old Major. Had an aged ribeye that was one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten. Great experience.
This was on my list and it was fantastic! Great food and ambiance. Left fully satisfied and we were with a group.
A lovely spot in a great neighborhood; would definitely recommend to locals and tourists alike.
One of the best meals we’ve had I. A while!
Brunch is great. Cocktails are creative and good. Always good beer on tap. The soft crab and shrimp scramble is incredibly good. Started with a small charcuterie and cheese platter. This has become a top three go to restaurants for us. Whether weekend brunch or the Nashville hot tacos during the week, this place is a winner!
Impeccable service, food, setting and ambiance. Friendly and helpful staff made deciding among the mutiple tasty options easier.
We were so pleased with the steak and the fried chicken. Once again we ordered too much food, but it was so good.
This meal was mediocre and the portions were small.
The service, food and ambiance was fantastic, we really enjoyed Old Major. I highly recommend.
The Bloody Mary was amazing - I had the Farmer. The house made waffle was great, too. It was served with a peach jam, which wasn’t too sweet.
I felt like there were exactly the right amount of options on the menu, too. I would definitely eat here again.
I always enjoy dining at Old Major. It's tried and true! We were in a quiet corner of the restaurant which was great for a date with my husband. The amuse was delish and the pretzel knots with mustard seed butter were outstanding! We waited a bit longer than expected for our main courses, but they were outstanding! The service was perfectly timed as well.
The rare trifecta of great food service and Ambience
Good was horrible service was horrible found hairs in dishes.
Could not find us menus to look at for 20 minutes. Brought dinner menus instead of Brunch menus. Reserved a table the day before and was seated by the wait staff area in the bar Each menu item was missing at least one thing from the menu description. Example: My French Toast was missing the Milk jam and the food was scarce on the plate.
our server, joey, was a rock star. the food was fantastic, service was top notch & we enjoyed every minute of our brunch. you guys are killing it! we’ll be back soon.
Very nice bistro. It is a fantastic atmosphere for date night. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. The food was good, but I didn't see it as striking. Maybe I enjoy more spice in my food than their average patron. Be aware that the menu is al la carte, which I am not a fan of. Give me a complete meal and don't try to sift every penny out of my wallet. My schnitzel was one small piece for $14.
The menu was intimidating but the staff helped and explained everything. We ordered just enough to be stuffed. Planning our next visit back
Disappointing and wish we would have chosen somewhere else for brunch. Waiter was never to be found, forgot to bring an item one of us had ordered, didn't notice until we were all nearly done with our food, then brought it out later after we were ready to go. Never offered to refill drinks, offer coffee, etc. Tried to pay and one of the other servers had to finally bring us our check and after our card sat there for awhile the other guy paid us out, too. This was a really embarrassing experience as we had a friend visiting from out of town and talked it up and thought Old Major would be nice, as it was in the past, but apparently it's gone downhill. It's a shame, because the food is really good if they get it to you.
Old Major lived up to hype. Service was excellent. Food was fantastic. It was fun to walk around the neighborhood after dinner.
We had a wonderful meal at Old Major! From apps to dessert, everything was excellent!
As usual, great food and amazing staff. This place is awesome!
I was so happy to find Old Major on Open Table. This was our second time here and everything was just as amazing as the first time.
I have had nothing to drink but the Way down Mexico Guey margarita because it is fantastic.
The heirloom tomato salad and the peach salad were both very good.
I have had the Kansas City strip and the short ribs, both are phenomenal, but the damn fried chicken stole the show. It is seriously the best fried chicken I have had in Denver and a very close second to the best fried chicken I have ever had. It is crispy and juicy and somehow they get the right texture on a boneless piece of meat!
Do not skip dessert. The butterscotch pot is heavenly. My husband isn’t particularly fond of butterscotch but he decided that this is his favorite dessert of all time and what he will request if he is ever dying and has the opportunity for one last bite to eat.
The service is also amazing, so many people running around filling glasses, replacing dishes and utensils with the grace of seasoned employee at 5 star resorts.
Old Major is our new favorite restaurant!
Brought a buddy for lunch. We both started with a Juicy Banger by Station 26. Nice IPA they always seems to have on tap. I opted for the HOT chicken tacos. Made with ghost pepper, a crispy thigh, some Asian slaw and a touch of ranch makes these the absolute best tacos! Incredible is a gross understatement! I added a side beet salad. DO NOT MISS THE BEET SALAD!! Fresh beets with arugula, blackberry, blueberries, sliced strawberry, goat cheese oh my! I want to go back...oh, we are in 2 hours! My friend ordered the same ghost pepper chicken, but in sandwich from. He order breast meat on the sandwich which isn’t fried. He wanted the crispy. First timer mistake and they made it right, even though it wasn’t their mistake. Well done. He will be back for sure.
Great service both at the bar and the woman serving us at the bar area tables ( Chelsea??) Tasty food. Try the fried chicken , short ribs. Patio is very nice.
Food wasn’t great but the staff took care of our meal and they were really kind.
Meh. It's like it wants to be something that it just isn't. If a restaurant's going to be so fussy, it'd better be something special, and Old Major just isn't very special. Also, call a small plate a small plate. Nothing good can come of setting one expectation (by calling them "shared plates") and delivering something far less. Also, stop serving small plates.
This is the second or third time I've eatten here, but this was not the best. It took almost an hour for us to get our food. We got our appetizer right away, but then had to sit and wait. We were the only people inside the restaurant, but there were several tables of people outside. Still couldn't understand the long wait. Our server was ok but he was nowhere to be found during our long wait between courses. Not even to apologize or give an explanation for the wait.
We have been to Old Major many times and have had a good experience, unfortunately we stopped in for brunch and it was really disappointing. We had an out of town guest who ordered toast and tea-they sent out French Toast- the correct order didn’t arrive until the meal was almost over. The server seemed distracted despite we were only one of a few tables occupied. It might be awhile before we go back, definitely wouldn’t return for brunch.
