About Old Major
Old Major is Chef Justin Brunson's new home to deformalized fine dining in the heart of Denver's Highland neighborhood.
Taking its name from the tufted Middle White Boar that dreamt of rebellion, Old Major seeks to follow suit: rebelling against the ideas of what fine dining must be.
Boasting a dining room of corrugated steel and recovered lumber, the open, lofted room is the perfect place to enjoy chef Brunson's rustic, American farmhouse cuisine.
Offering dinner seven nights a week, the nose-to-tail menu offerings can be paired with either our focused, eclectic beer list or with our wine list featuring domestic & international selections.
Old Major's team includes some of the most talented cooks, servers, bartenders, cicerones and sommeliers to be found under one roof, all of whom are dedicated to bringing amazing experiences, night after night, to their regulars from around the block and to visitors from around the world.

Old Major Ratings and Reviews
Excellent restaurant - great service and food. The tables were a little close together which I get. Now onto the food- my wife had the signature dish Nose to Tail Plate**confit belly, crispy ears, smoked rib, country sausage, acorn spaetzle, caraway kraut, red wine jus, which was absolutely fantastic !!! I shared the 3 Lb. Pork Chop with the daily accompaniment, which was Thai green vegetables. This dish also came with a demi-glace, this will most certainly serve 2-3 people. Ordered the sides of spicy cauliflower and the seasonal vegetables - had to throw in the fries :) all said and done this place has the thumbs up from me and party, Will most certainly be returning to try the steak !!
Our server Peggy Sue was amazing. We are big orderers and she paced our meal perfectly. Our table was always clean and well maintained. The food was amazing. The experience was amazing. Everything about our evening at Old Major was wonderful. I'm so happy our experience was a home run.
Service was poor. The server was nice but it was like he forgot about us. He kept forgetting to bring my wine, didnt check in with us much and by the time he brought the bill most everyone had left the patio area. Odd when we were one of the first few tables to arrive.
Food was overpriced- have eaten at many other restaurants at this price point for steak in Denver and this was definitely the worst. Ribeye was charred on outside and not quite mid rare in center and more importantly chalk full of gristle
Server was virtually non existent after she took our order. The Gentleman who handled the water kept our glasses full though.
great food. tried the fried chicken this time, holy cow was that great. the noise level is a bit much tho. not sure if it's all the tables being so close so lots of diners, and/or the interior doesn't absorb sound very well. I wish they could do something about this.
My husband and I just spent our anniversary here. The food is sublime! The service is perfect, just the right amount of attention paid, our drinks were never empty but we were able to have comfortable conversation without someone hovering over us. Great cocktails and dessert. I can't wait to go back!
As always, Old Major gave us a great meal. We had brunch and it was fantastic. Bacon, sausage, eggs all prepared perfectly. One person in our group had the chicken and waffles and she was blown away by how good the chicken was. She is from the south and is very picky about her fried chicken. Thankfully she let us try it and she was right.
The food was very good but overpriced. The server was knowledgeable but not very attentive. She suggested we order all our choices (appetizers and entrees) at the same time for "timing" reasons. The appetizers (3 items) started coming out and we had not yet received our drinks. We finished the appetizers and the drinks but she did not come back around for a while. We would have liked to have a drink while waiting for our entree which took quite a while. Once our entree was finished we waited a while for her to come back and we inquired about dessert. It took her a while to come back with a dessert menu. Once we ordered dessert (1 item) it took a while to get it.
Just went for brunch when visiting my daughter in Denver. Wanted to see another neighborhood in the city, great street appeal, cozy neighbor hood feel. Nice bar scene inside and out. Got my usual Open Table: good table right by the window. People in Denver are so fit and active, as a side note. Nice to see. Lots of good choices to eat. The chicken and waffles look pretty amazing, I say looked because I was never even offered a bite by my newly transplanted Portland foodie of a kid. I played it safe with a breakfast sandwich, homemade sausage and soft eggs. The barely dressed side salad and home fry nuggets were good, but bland. Wish I had ordered something a little spicier. I will next time. The service was a little slow, but most people there seemed to be in no real hurry. They were enjoying themselves and those amazing looking Bloody Mary's.
My husband and I eat out often and Old Major was recommended to us by someone who knows how much we love great food. We shared three small plates, an entree and dessert; all of which were delicious and the entire meal, drinks and service far exceeded expectations. Wonderfully done, Old Major!
Met a friend Labor Day late lunch, sat by the front windows. This is not my first time at Old Major have been going on and off since it first opened, usually for dinner or brunch. The blue marlin sandwich is a disappointment, eat the fish leave everything else alone. The double double was good and the pork fat French fries were delicious. Kind of sad when the fries are the bests thing going. More importantly, they have a fly infestation in the front dining area by the windows. Not one or two but a whole damn colony.
Another return visit to Old Major for dinner with another couple proved to be just as satisfying as previous visits, perhaps more so. We had originally decided to go elsewhere, but there was a very long wait with no reservation system, so we got out the trusted OpenTable app and made an immediate reservation at Old Major. Arriving for a late meal at around 9 PM, there were plenty of open tables, and the weather was perfect for outdoors dining in their relaxing back patio.
Our server, Sean, was stellar throughout, even though we kept him there for a bit longer than he might have liked, having had a busy and long double shift on a holiday weekend. Everything we ordered this visit was outstanding; the kitchen here is en pointe regarding squeezing every bit of flavor out of their creative takes on comfort food. The fresh oysters, heirloom tomato and special tri-tip sous vide with BBQ Palisade peach sauce appetizers were perfection, as were the four Nose to Tail, Chicken, Corvina and Bucatini entrees, all unique and expertly prepared and presented.
We took advantage of 50% off all wine bottles for the holiday weekend Sunday evening (normally just offered on Wednesdays), sharing 2 bottles of a nice Sauv Blanc, then shared wonderful Chocolate Tarts served with homemade fresh mint ice cream and blackberries and a really good strawberry sorbet scoop. We each enjoyed a digestif along with the sweets, topping off a perfectly relaxing and satisfying dinner.
The food here is wonderful; about the best you could hope for in Denver. Thank you to Sean and the entire staff for everything.
Good was exceptional. staff was great. cocktails were amazing. Highly recommend the tuna appetizer, the fried chicken, the ham biscuits, basically you can't go wrong with the apps. also the nose to tail plate is amazing. never expected to have so many versions of pork in one sitting and still want more.
We waited over an hour for our food while 2 other 2 tops, who were sat after us, got their food. Asked for no hollandaise sauce on my omelet and it came with sauce. We had to ask twice for the whiskey menu. My husband ordered a 2 oz pour of whiskey and we were given two pours. Food was awesome, too bad the service wasn't.
Excellent food and top notch service. My only issue is having a few more choices at a more reasonable value. It is on the high end which is fine as long as their are other choice on the menu to balance out the high end options. The best service that I have had in a long time and I will return because of the service.
