Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner
Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.
Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, open-faced sandwiches and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.

I was suprised at the taste of the chicken! It was very bland and the corn and mashed potatoes had a wax flavor to them which made those items something not to eat.
Perfect for lunch! We went on a Monday and crowds were minimal. The service was fast and friendly. Our 5 and 6 year old liked the kids menu. Mac and cheese of course!
No comments, but very good. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The food is the food. Not spectacular, but definitely not bad. The prices are above average, but you get a ton of food. The service is where this restaurant always shines.
Food was just okay had to check it if the bucket list
the food was excellent. Our server was friendly but spoke a little quickly when going over the menu options
Amazing service!!!! Waiters were very attentive when you needed water or anything. Staff was super friendly and the food was amazing!! Definitely going to be eating here every time we go to knotts!
Went for a birthday dinner for my mom, it was absolutely horrible. The service was unhappy and unknowable, there was an incorrect menu listing, the food was all reheated and dry, and the sides were canned.
My Dad from Kansas was visiting it was pretty good but too much food though doesn’t compare to mom’s pan fried homemade chicken dinner......
Food was dry
The food was a bit salty but the fried chicken was delicious for sure.
And everything else was perfect.
We are long time fans of the Chicken Dinner restaurant but unfortunately Cedar Fair just can’t seem to get their act together. Service was really slow, staff disinterested. Restaurant was very dirty with dust balls lining the walkways, under the tables and very dusty blinds. If this is what we see, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like! Totally unacceptable and the food mediocre at best. Biscuits not even the same-get it together Cedar Fair!!
Super nice night, our waitress was super cool and helpful!
Service was awesome. Food was very tasty! I would definitely go back with more time.
Chicken very good, mashed potatoes very good. Cabbage not good, cold. Everything else good. A little pricey.
We were in a food coma! Chicken was moist and had a great flavor! Berry punch is my favorite! Biscuits were hot and jam was amazing! Great experience with family!
Everything was great except the way our table was situated, everyone being seated had to pass our table (including people who turned their faces toward our food on our table to cough as they passed). Not cool. I had to cover my food with a napkin. The food was excellent. I wish I could remember our server’s name—she was the best we’ve ever had there.
The food was great, the servers were amazing and the atmosphere was very very nice
The fried chicken was cooked properly but had no seasoning what so ever. Very bland and a disappointment. That was the whole reason to go there. The pie was good.
I was led to believe the chicken would be the best I ever had. It was good, but not great. The portions were large (we had to take some home in a doggie bag) but they should be for the $24.50 price tag. The cabbage was tasty but mushy. I guess its something that you have to do at least once, but I doubt that we'll go back.
I wouldn't recommend breakfast. I prefer lunch or dinner. Service was slow and food wasn't that great except for the chicken and biscuits as usual. Took almost 45 minutes after ordering before we were served and then the eggs and hash browns were luke warm.
Food was really good. Service was disappointing at best. I had to constantly ask for refills for drinks. At one point one of the bus boys to our waitress actually walked away and made a noise showing his annoyance that we needed refills. We were a large party of 7 but the restaurant really wasn't that busy at 830 at night.
Even with a reservation you have to wait. Had a party of 12, they couldn't even give each guest a chair, they dragged a random bench to our table. Utensils were dirty, they still had food on them. We were so disgusted we got up and left.
My favorite chicken and I love their boysenberry butter and biscuits!
We were told They ran out of chicken by 5pm. We got one of the last dinners. Chicken wasn’t good. No flavor. Very bland. Corn tasted like it was out of a can. Gravy was ok. So we’re the bisects
The ambiance and the service is excellent. Just like I remember since coming as a child and throughout the years as I visit the LA area.
However, the prices have gone up exponentially since I came two years ago. And the boysenberry punch was not mixed right. The flavor was too watered down.
Excellent restaurant, delicious food and excellent service, overall amazing experience
Had reservations, was told they would call us. After waiting went up to desk and was told they were texting us. They never confirmed our phone # They we’re texting our landline. We finally get seated and take 15 min to get a waiter to our table, again I had to complain. Our waitress never apologized for “ignoring” us. We Also never got our soup. the waitress was a pleasant lady and I guess that made up for the mishaps
Had a great time! Food was hot and plenty of it! Ol' West feel that Knott's is known for!
We’ve never eaten here as family so this was a real treat ! My kids are 12 and 11 and they loved it ! I ate the chipotle chicken salad, my husband had the chicken and waffles along with my son and my daughter had the kids chicken legs , mash with corn. We feasted! Service was awesome and I also had a glass of wine , which was welcomed after many hours of walking and roller coasters !
Chicken is not very good. The mashed potatoes are delicious.
My husband and I brought my Dad (who is almost 89) for Valentine's lunch. He has been bringing me here since I was little (I am nearly 58). We also so happy that the quality and taste of the chicken is just as good as ever. The pieces were huge, moist, tasty and the biscuits and potatoes and gravy were just as good as ever too. The ability to make reservations now is such a great improvement and makes it more kid and senior friendly. The dining room was very comfortable as well.
The food was cold, it obviously was under heat lamps for way to long. We got our food at same time as people who ordered 20 after us. Waffle was horrible. Chicken cold. The gravy was so cold it has filmed over. Yuck! Was not even busy.
Great Food, Great Service (Salvador)!!! Had an Awesome Time with my Sister from Sacramento!!! Thank You!!!
It’s was the perfect place to celebrate my daughter birthday, the only thing I didn’t like was that thanks to a previous client that was so rude with the staff now they don’t sign Happy Birthday to their customers
