Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner
Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant first opened in 1934 with Mrs. Knott and her children serving the first customers in their tea room. The restaurant has grown over the years into one of the largest in California, but the classic fried chicken dinner is still made the same way today using Mrs. Knott's recipes.
Every complete chicken dinner includes handmade biscuits, side salad, choice of cabbage or cherry rhubarb, three pieces of fried chicken and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy. For dessert: your choice of boysenberry pie or boysenberry sherbet. Many other dishes are also available including grilled chicken, salads, open-faced sandwiches and a number of appetizers. A full-service bar, serving signature boysenberry-infused cocktails, is also available.
The food was very good, service was inattentive and extremely poor.
Reservations did not matter because it was just a long opening line with only one hostess. There was nothing indicating a reservation line.
Waitress was useless.
The food is as mediocre at best, and took a long time to get to our table. I made a reservation, but our party of 6 needed to wait (while walk in groups were seated) while a table in a back corner was made available for us. We had three very well behaved children, so that’s probably the reason for the back corner. The food was cold when it reached our table, and the kids’ waffles were very hard from sitting. This used to be a favorite restaurant, but I won’t be back.
Food was ok. The fried chicken was ok. The breast was dry. We had heard that it was the best chicken but we wouldn’t go back. The best thing we had was the chicken noodle soup. Service was ok
Loved it. The food was awesome and the boysenberry pie was the best.
Now this as not the Chicken restaurants normal menu. This was for Thanksgiving and it was horrible! It was more like cafeteria service food made in bulk. There was no flavor or seasoning on any of this. I had a family of 5 and we didn't eat 1 plate and were disgusted. We talked to the manager and did not pay except for 1 plate which keep in mind was 50 each. Not worth it and will make my own Thanksgiving meal next year. Wanted to have a nice Thanksgiving meal with my family but will not ever do this again there.
This is our 2nd year going. Service and quality of food was amazing! Thumbs down moving it to Spurs.
Sitting is a backroom, we felt isolated from everyone.
Great fun for thanksgiving - an no clean up !!!!!!!
Worth not having to cook. Took photos with Snoopy; service was great and friendly.
Went for the the dinner Buffet, the turkey and sides were good
The additional dishes, Mexican and pasta were mediocre
Expected better. In addition to that, we were rushed after just being there an hour.
Fantastic Thanksgiving buffet with attentive outstanding service. My family loved the huge variety of foods, all fresh, even the pasta (my daughter is selective about pasta and she is only 12)! There was turkey, roast beef, Mrs. Knott’s fried chicken, some international dishes, vegan and vegetarian dishes and a large array of delicious desserts and of course pies! It was a wonderful experience and they always fill every reservation so reserve early! They are also wonderful on normal days and nights!
we ate at the buffet. The small yeast rolls and jam were not there. Turkey was a turkey roll and not that great. only one salad . no cooked cabbage. chicken breast was ok but legs and wings should have been there. my husbands coffee was luke warm. over all the food was not as good as your cost.
The Thanksgiving Buffet is always a good bargain, especially for seniors. The food was good with a nice selection of Thanksgiving menu items as well as other Mrs. Knott's specialities including fried chicken and boysenberry pie.
The food is amazing, and food service was terrific! We only had one issue which was it was raining and my wife slipped on a wet floor that was a main walking area. Felt there should have been mats available. Otherwise enjoyed ourselves as a family, and took pics with Snoopy!
Mrs. Knott's isn't fancy, but that is fine with me. I attended their Thanksgiving buffet and found the food to be down-to-earth and tasty. There were more dishes than I could try, but those I did try were nicely prepared and presented. The entire staff could not have been more friendly and attentive.
Excellent food choices. Didn't care for the boysenberry waffles, would have rather had plain and be able to choose toppings. Also no whip cream to top pumpkin pie.
We are longtime customers. While not like the old days of the “Knott’s “ for tasty food, it’s still better than most others. The servers are great and the food is good, hot& plentiful. Nice variety of choices. Price was right, too.
Out “go-to” choice for over 60 years!
Another wonderful Thanksgiving brunch at Knotts!! Service was amazing! Food was good but temperature in the air made food get cold rather quickly. But desert was Amazing!!!
Great way to spend our thanksgiving day! Food was okay. Not enough simple choice for kids! But overall was well worth it!
wish the price for us older seniors was less, we eat very little.
a nicer salad this year than last year. Boysenberry pie great.
New tradition has been forged in fire for this family. Thank you and can't wait until next year.
Being that we used to go to their Sunday Brunch, when they had one, we tend to compare them. This was not as good as their former Sunday Brunch but it was still good.
First, it was a rainy day and it was cold in the entire restaurant so wished we would have brought along coats or dressed warmer.
Knotts has several different rooms to eat in and in ours, it seemed like the wait staff wasn't really sure who had our table. It probably took 10 minutes to get someone to wait on us but when she finally arrived, there was no problem after that.
The food was good, not outstanding, but good. The way the food was laid out wasn't the best and when it was busy at the food lines, it was really crowded and hard to get around. Appeared as though they were trying to put all the food into kind of a limited area without thinking what it would be like when crowded.
Delicioso desayuno en Knott's
Chicken dinner wasn’t anywhere near like it was many years ago.
Chicken was dry and taste like The oil is cooked in was old
The chicken is very juicy and delicious inside was very soft and outside was crunchie. Salada and soup are also tasty. The bread is soft and tasty. I will come again to the restaurant.
Visited Knott’s Berry Farm with a visiting relative for the first time. Made a reservation and went earlier. Good quality food, good service, had a good meal before going into the theme park
Outstanding from start to finish. Friendly and competent reservations people. Server was terrific and good was very well prepared. Great value for the price. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone
Well, first time back to this restaurant in 20 years. Gone is the cozy cute restaurant- now it is HUGE!! Big business has taken over. I dont think Mrs Knotts would be too happy.
But the service was excellent and the food was pretty good. The rolls are amazing!! The chicken soup could use more flavor. A little bland.
Price, again, not like 20 years ago..which was not expecting..But $29 for chicken dinner..at lunch!! Good news is its a lot of food and you can split it. Oh and it comes with a slice of pie.
In San Diego we have a restaurant- the chicken pie shop that has been around for at least 60 years. And a chicken dinner there ( and soups great) is only $14.99 Guess you are paying extra for being at Knott's Berry Farm
Made reservations and service and food was excellent.
I’ve gone there since I was a little girl, and it never disappoints. It’s as delicious as it was the first time I went!
I took my sister here for her birthday lunch, including our 96yo mother. We all had a great lunch. Our server was Douglas. He was professional and attentive. I hadn't been here since the remodel but I liked the look and feel. I will be back.
Loved the chicken, service was a little slow, drinks were great
Food was great as ever! Was seated in the bar for first time. Least favorite dining room.
Won’t be coming back.
I have enjoyed over many years though
Everything was delicious! Always a treat
Do not come here for breakfast - After placing our order, it took an hour for the food to come. When both our meals came, they both were incorrect and mine was undercooked. The restaurant was slow so I do not understand why the kitchen had issues. We ended up returning the food and leaving without eating.
The food was a bit too much for one person to eat. We could have totally shared one meal it was such a waste of food and money since it is a bit pricey.
I haven’t been there for many years and I remember the long lines. Today it was a pleasure. No lines and quick check in
Lots and lots of food! Bring your appetite! Chicken was so so, remember it being better. Also, can do without the cherry rhubarb. The chicken noodle soup along with the biscuits with toppings were delicious though! And save room for pie :)
