With the exception of our friendly waiter and assistant, this was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had. We were greeted immediately by a bouncer telling us my son couldn’t enter because of his dressy leather open toed shoes. I will say I did see the dress code on the confirmation text, but assumed this applied to more casual footwear, so be aware. Evidently my confirmed reservation for indoor seating was “just a request” per the hostess. However, the countless other reservations I’ve made on Open Table are for the seating you book. So we were seated on the porch in 100 degree heat. As for food, the mango wedge was good, but that’s as far as it goes. The steaks were all sub par. Little to no seasoning, not a quality cut of meat, and not a consistent temp on any of the 3 we ordered all medium rare. The mashed potatoes had no flavor. Don’t waste your time or money. I agree with another recent review - go to Fleming’s or Charley’s for a much better meal and a less pretentious experience.

The manager approached us because according to him, one of guest our guests did not meet the dress code. However, he only enforced the dress code on our table. There were multiple people inside that were not in compliance. The manager, the one with a tattoo behind his ear, singled us out and gave us the option to either have the individual change, put on a Meat Market shirt, or leave. So I guess baseball caps, fishing shirts, and shorts are all acceptable in the Meat Market dress code but not a high end designer sleeveless shirt. The only thing pleasant about the event was the two waitresses. They told us they disagreed with the manager’s decision. If it hadn’t been for them, it would have been one of the worst dining experiences in my life. To me, Meat Market is a wanna be nice restaurant with Outback Steak house quality food. There are so many better restaurants in Tampa that deserve my money.
