Loved the original menu and were disappointed with the changes. The pork was so heavy with green chilies as to be nearly inedible, especially for a tourist. We weren’t warned about the “heat” level. It is still unclear whether any of the bar food is available in the main dining room.
Attractive venue. Varied menu. Good wine list. Attentive but unobtrusive service. We really enjoyed our evening!
This is a really nice restaurant however I found everything to be overpriced especially the hors d’oeuvres and the alcohol. I will be more prepared next time.
The tables for two felt too close. They are placed in an elevated area and are only about 18 inches apart. The food, service, and atmosphere was very good but we will only go back as a 4some.
Ah-Maize-ing staff and food. Joseph was spot on with all his recommendations and the food was delicious. The kitchen had our meals out quickly. My wife had the trout, I had the Chilean bass, we both had the Tempranillo. We enjoyed the Pisco Sour and the dessert. Considering their downtown Santa Fe location, it was a pleasant surprise to find plenty of parking on the premises.
Excellent menu options, very creative Southwestern cuisine combinations that were new to us - from the appetizers through the dessert. The wine list had been carefully put together and although many of the wines were unfamiliar the 3 that we chose were excellent. The waitperson was very knowledgeable and skilled; with just the perfect amount of time spent talking with us and checking in. We have already recommended the Maize to other people.
Maize has a very innovative menu, well executed. Great service as well.
Amazing food!! Will be back again.
The food was good, the service excellent, but not much value for the money, as the portions are small. Wine is overpriced, and so are the appetizers/salads. Lots of better options in Santa Fe.
We wanted to love Maize. We are SF locals and are always interested in new restaurants. Our friends raved. We were disappointed. Portions were on the small side. We both had fish. Mine was the rainbow trout. Terribly thin and overcooked. My husband's was steamed white fish. Small piece but cooked perfectly. No taste. Our waitress was personable and attentive. Some chairs sit way too low for the height of the table. A petite person like myself had difficulty. I felt like Lili Tomlin.
