Very creative receipes. At this level though, I believe that the tacos deserve home made fresh tortillas.
Maize appealed to us initially because it seemed more quiet and off the beaten path. The menu exceeded our expectations and the ambiance was wonderful! It felt special, but not pretentious.
This was our best meal in Santa Fe! Don't miss it.
Food was creative, but not over-the-top weirdly so. Portions were just right so you can get both a starter and entree. Wine list was fine and reasonably priced. I always get the willow basket with fresh ingredients. Nice ambiance, plenty of space between tables. Service stretched a little thin.

Maize was our favorite restaurant during our trip to New Mexico. We had the place to ourselves. It was snowing a bit outside (in April!). The food and service were outstanding. Try the avocado tacos, adobado tacos, or the pozole. You can’t go wrong. LOVED it!

We were absolutely delighted by this restaurant while visiting Santa Fe for the service, the setting, food and wine options. We were on a mission to try places beyond the typical names. I would highly recommend that you give it a tray.

Can't wait to go back! This was our first time dining at Maize and it instantly became a favorite. The ambiance is lovely and the menu wonderful. A truly memorable evening.

Way over priced, mediocre food. And, you better LOVE corn because it's in every dish. Yes, I understand, Maize translated means corn, but, enough with the corn, please. I ordered the Poblano Relleno. The server described it as having 3 types of quinoa. She forgot to mention that there was more corn and carrots in the mix than quinoa. No cheese, no meat, flavorless chile pepper = $23.00. Two small smears of weirdly flavored sauces accompanied the relleno but it was still dry and uninspired. In fact, I think the inspiration came from a frozen Swanson dinner. In addition, it was barely heated thru.
Three of us came to Maize for the first time. I loved my selections- ensalada tropical that included heart of palm, watercress, papaya, coconut flesh, and carrot; all sliced beautifully and accented with a light dressing. And halibut cooked just right with lots of bite size veggies, including little onions and cauliflower florets. One friend had the corn and squash soup, excellent; and duck tamale with duck confit, and enjoyed it. My other friend wasn’t as happy with her buffalo carpaccio and pistachio-crusted trout but she acknowledged that she was coming down with a cold and perhaps a bit sensitive to the vinegar in the carpaccio dressing. The decor is lovely- nice color and texture on the walls, comfortable chairs in attractive upholstery. We thought we might miss the decor of the old Georgia O’Keeffe Cafe, but this meets the challenge. Nice wine list - we had a good Tempranillo.
This visit marks the third time I found myself intrigued by the menu and disappointed by the food. I tried the black ash tamale with grilled prawns and mole Coloradito—tough, over cooked shrimp and dry, dry tamale. The mole was not brilliant. Next I had the ground turkey picadillo tacos and truly a bite seemed like a mouthful of sand. Oddly seasoned exclusively with a heavy handful of black pepper and little other than diced carrot. Of note: the management comped me for that dish. The concept is good in terms of creative, Santa Fe focused dishes; execution is unfortunately way off.
One of our guests requested beer and was told they were out. The server offered a glass of wine at no charge and it was accepted. Good PR. Overall service, food, and ambiance were above average and we will come again.
This is a way to enjoy modern and creative use of traditional ingredients rather than the traditional NM fare. Not criticizing the usual NM food at all but this is a treat. Recommend it without question. We were greeted, dealt with very politely and promptly. A great option for a Santa Fe special night out coupled with a Lensic theater event.

Our first trip to Santa Fe and trying to find the best restaurants. Maize is really setting the bar high for the others! It is absolutely beautiful, very simple, elegant and southwestern ambience. The service was excellent. We had the Caesar salad which was kale and romaine with a poblano dressing and absolutely incredible. Croutons were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. My husband had the lamb two ways which was cooked perfectly and so delicious. I had the lamb tacos . Both were fabulous. Had a awesome experience and would go back in a heartbeat!
Located right next to the Georgia O'Keefe museum in downtown Santa Fe, this neighborhood gem was excellent. Our server, Matthew, was knowledgable, prompt and very courteous. Also, they have their own parking which is usually unavailable in this part of town! It was not very crowded, which was great for the noise level, but surprising based on how yummy everything was. It is definitely an overlooked fine dining establishment. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her ceviche appetizer. We all really enjoyed our meal there and this is another place I definitely want to visit again when we return to Santa Fe.
The restaurant was not full but we had to wait for our dishes quite a while, Our waitress was good, not her fault, the kitchen?
Six months ago, our meal was a perfect “10”. This time, a disaster. Should have been suspicious that restaurant was virtually empty when others in the area moderately busy. Ordered standard menu fare. No special requests. Problem started when server brought entrees...only problem was that he had forgotten my appetizer order, soup. My entree, trout, was returned to the kitchen. The soup arrived 10 minutes later. Subsequently, the entree was brought back a full 15 minutes after my wife’s dinner was served. Trout being under a warmer tastes like dry cardboard. Truly disappointing. Doubtful that we will return; probably more than likely, this restaurant will not be here anyway if blunders are not better dealt with by staff or manager.

Even though we have lived here 2 years, this was our 1st visit. Well appointed and comfortable. The service by Matthew was exceptional. He answered the many questions we asked, was knowledgable about the food we considered ordering, more than we have seen in many other high end spots. The 1st course of 3 sister soup was delicious, the caesar salad yummy. The taco's were good, but the pork was a bit dry and diced a little bit too small. We will be back!
Went for date night. Food was very delicious. We will be going back next time we are in Santa Fe!!

We stopped into the restaurant on the way to Sedona- we were walking out when I bumped into the pastry Chef DAVID, who was kind and wonderful enough to share his amazing desserts! A must go!
We had a pleasant Valentines day Dinner that had a few service hiccups but was very nice overall. The Service seemed a bit disjointed with a waiter asking for drink orders and a waitress asking for drinks a second time...all was well after drinks were delivered. The Food was good but not great...Pork served with a broth of Posole and Beans...would have been better without so much liquid...flavors melted into the broth. Green chile potato gratin was tasty but was delivered with appetizers and the waitress happily returned it with the meal...it could use more chiles! Abuelita's chocolate bar was a very good finish to the meal...and we will most definitely try other restaurants in the Chef's family...especially looking forward to Trattoria a Mano!
As usual, the food (Colorado Elk and fabulous potatoes au gratin) was excellent, as was Matthew's service. A beautiful restaurant, with superb food and service.
Met the chef and complimented on his exquisite food served. Very flavorful and aromatic. The salad had many flavors and it was delicious. My main course was a fish I never had before and it was exquisite to the pallet. Service was excellent: Very professional and she catered to our needs. Now that’s service! I will definitely go back.
Maize is a terrific restaurant! The cuisine combines native american, mexican with contemporary influences. Absolutely delicious! Our only concerns were wanting more vegetarian options. All other aspects superlative! Highest recommendation for a lovely night out in Santa Fe.

We were expecting to have an amazing savory experience and it was disappointing. The flavors were fairly bland, small portions, and we did complain to our waiter who took the dishes back to the chef. Basically they took one dish off our bill. The restaurant is nice but the decor was basically a bunch of dead tree branches on the wall. I ordered the chili relleno and asked if it had a little kick to it because I like a lot of flavor. I didn't find much inside the relleno but rice and maybe a little cumin. Presentation was pretty but I was disappointed in the first bite. Even the sauce was bland. I would pass on this place.
While the ambiance was nice and the service excellent, the meals suffered from a lack of seasoning and tasted quite flat. I expect more from a $32 entree. We did not ask for salt for the table but all four of us agreed on the lack of seasoning.
Maize never fails to make the night out a perfect 10. While the food, ambiance, and drinks are all the best, it is truly the wait staff who make the difference. Would not trade our time there for another venue in Santa Fe-

The dinner was great. The food was very original and delicious. There was a minor problem in the beginning and the staff was amazing in making everything right.
