Excellent food, terrible service. Glasses remain empty and dirty dishes in front of you. The food is truly spectacular.
Carefully prepared, visually stunning, yummy dishes. Nice ambiance. Server ws excellent but supporting staff seemed to be a bit disjointed.
The vibe is relaxed and friendly. An excellent award wining pastry chef created one of the best cheese cakes I ever had a pleasure of eating! Every course was a delight! Warm and friendly staff take good care of you in this pleasingly designed restaurant.
Pleasantly surprised by the energy and creativity that went into the menu and food prep. Kudos on decor. Excellent staff. Will be going back for more.
The food here was quite good-definitely influenced by the local culture. Heavy on seafood and limited wine menu. Loved the artwork and the ambience in the inside portion of the restaurant. I just thought it was a little pricey for what it was, but I would still go there again. Very nice find for a traveler just passing through!
Creative, beautiful and delicious.
My husband & I had dinner with friends to celebrate two birthdays. The restaurant has a very elegant but
warm, cozy feel to it. Our meals were both delicious & very healthy. ( I loved my Willow Basket) & the Dreamcatcher desert was very tasty & creative. The service was excellent. We will be back & will recommend it to friends.
Two of us hared the strip steak, which came with delicious green Chile potatoes and grilled asparagus. Those potatoes alone were worth the trip. We each also had a dessert; Tres Leches Cheesecake for me and the chocolate dessert for my husband. Both were good.
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our dinner at Maize. Excellent creative food, well presented. Service was excellent, cordial and professional. Very attractive dining room. In all a great experience and we look forward to returning soon.
Relaxing meal in Santa Fe square. Maize has it all - great food, staff, ambiance, and location. Get a reservation and walk there from any downtown hotel. I'll be back!
After the wonderful lunch at the Compound and a nap I arrived a little early for my reservation, the places was slamming so the young lady at the hostess station directed me to the bar to wait for my table.
Since I was already seated I just let the table reservation go and ordered food and drink right there in the bar. I started with Three Sisters Soup: chilled corn bisque with grilled zucchini, served with black bean bread. Another great cold soup this week, refreshing and delicious.
For my entree I chose the Poblano Relleno with carrot-piñon mole, nogado sauce and corn foam. This was as beautiful as it was full of incredible flavor and texture.
I had the most incredible wine, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from Austin Hope of Paso Robles, it went down like butta.
Very disappointing experience. Nice place but somewhat indifferent staff. Food was not up to par...appetizer ceviche was OK, crusted trout and duck tamale entrees were not good as both meals were dry and overdone. It was as if they sat too long in the kitchen . Maybe they did since the couple next to us was served their meal before we received ours despite having ordered before them. We weren’t asked about our meal, paid and left. Like I said...indifferent. Not my kind of place.
This was our first visit to Maize and we enjoyed it very much. Got a glimpse of the main dining room on the way in--this is used for dinner only. Very nice place! We had lunch on the patio, which is so nice this time of year in Santa Fe. The atmosphere was great. Service was attentive. We enjoyed margaritas and a very good smoked tomato salsa/guacamole with house-made chips appetizer. The chips are very thick and crispy. Interesting texture. Next, my wife got a whopper of a burger that was loaded with great accouterments: caramelized onions, New Mexican green chiles (of course), cheese, etc. She also had a side of yucca fries, which she loved. I had the soft tacos: grilled shrimp plus slaw, etc. in one and roasted lamb shank plus a chipotle aioli and other accouterments for the other. Really good. Overall, this was a lovely experience. We'll definitely return on our next visit to Santa Fe.
Memorable, totally delicious, and unique meal. And exceptional service from the hostess and server, both attentive, knowledgeable, and beautiful! Thank you.
Food was delicious. Very creative menu. Good service. Good selection of craft beer on tap.
Beautiful restaurant . Interesting well crafted food. Waiter was ok, but not as knowledgeable of menu and libation list as he should have been. Definitely worth a try.
We celebrated our last night in wonderful Santa Fe with dinner at Maize. We are so glad we did! Everything was fabulous! We started with the Blue Corn Blinis, enjoyed the pulled pork tacos, kale and romaine Caesar, the caldo verde, and the tres leches cheesecake. All I can say is WOW! I wished we had found Maize sooner! We would have been back a second time, for sure.
First time to visit Maize and we found the food and service to be outstanding. The waiter was empathetic to the need to avoid gluten and dairy and helpful in navigating the menu to accommodate my dietary challenges.
We sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful evening in the quite courtyard area. Highly recommend! Food was great and service even better!
Superb dining experience from greeting to dessert.
Kudos to Sara our wait person who was a consummate professional & a pure delight
Maize met and exceeded my expectations. We dined outside and it was perfect. The menu is very interesting and the service was very good.
Best smoked nachos! Unique and delicious. The bar menu is better than the restaurant menu, so we ate at the restaurant but ordered from the bar menu.
Nice atmosphere, excellent food and service. Would definitely go again.
Very disappointed. Smallest pour of wine of any restaurant in Santa Fe but high price. Supposed to be trout but my guess is that it was Kokanee salmon and it was overdone and bland. The salad was good. The Tres Leches cheese cake was tasty but not exceptional and the size was tiny. The rice creme brûlée pudding was more like breakfast food than desert. Not sweet enough for a desert. Very good watermelon sorbet. Table mates liked it the cold corn soup. The menu looked great, but the food did not meet expectations raised by the menu. Good, attentive wait staff though didn't seem knowledge about what wine would go with trout.
Lots of nice vegetarian options were appreciated. Others liked their entrees better than I liked my two appetizers, but it may just have been my choices. Service was excellent and very professional. Felt a little on the pricey side but not out of line with other restaurants in Santa Fe. Liked the food at one of their other restaurants in town a bit better, but we'll be back here to try other choices.
Maize is my new favorite restaurant. Delicious the food was outstanding everyone was very friendly
We have eaten at Maize at least 6 times and have sampled most regular items on the menu. The food has always been superb, the libations are creative and excellent. The service also has been superb. The only suggestion I could make would be to add a few more moderate priced wines (below $50) to the list.
The food was excellent - the halibut steamed in banana leaf was a winner (cooked through but moist and very flavorful). Duck was cooked perfectly, as well. Excellent, attentive waiter and wait-time for food was perfect. The only thing missing was the lack of bread served to the table, other than that this was a good first-time visit and it won't be the last.
Pretty decent place, the old Georgia OKeefe restaraunt. Food quite good, service impeccable, staff very nice and helpful.
Server was somewhat lax. It took a while to get our drinks and he said the bar was busy. When he brought the second round he left the previous empty glasses on the table.
The blue corn blinis with smoked trout were absolutely lovely.
As a diner, you're in good hands at Maize - from the valet greeting guests at the entrance, to the well-designed menu choices, to the presentation of delicious and interesting food. Though Maize's dining room is attractive and well-lit, outdoor seating on the patio is magical. The menu has enough items to accommodate vegetarians and to make return visits for locals worthwhile.
Absolutely delicious creative menu. Can’t wait to return so as to try more dishes.
Still great with seasonal updates // Chef is very creative // Very nice space with style // Great staff //
First time dinners. It was excellent with very nice outdoor seating area. We will be back.
Lovely place. I was a little disappointed with my steak -- not a top of the line piece of meat. But the rest of the meal was wonderful...
We had a wonderful dinner at Maize. I ordered the rainbow trout which was cooked perfectly and served with crisp skin (fantastic!) My daughter had the chicken tacos and they were equally good. We will definitely plan to return to Maize on our next trip to Santa Fe.
Excellent food and service. Wine list and sommelier.
To sum up my exceptional experience: this was one of the most memorable restaurants I have ever had the pleasure to have a meal. I compare the cuisine that I've had in the many places I've lived with an abundance of Foodie restaurants -- San Francisco, NYC, Washington DC. The restaurant describes itself as, a bold and contemporary twist on traditional Southwestern food. It is completely accurate. My wife, who rarely finishes an entire plate, loved the cornmeal-crusted trout with mole and would have eaten more if there had been more. And had I been in Santa Fe longer I would have gone back for another helping of the pork, pinto beans & green chile pozole dish. Amazing flavor, perfect seasonings and creative presentation. Less memorable was the ceviche appetizer that did not excite. Service was excellent. The only negative was the excessive airconditioning on a rainy chilly evening.
Maize always delivers! Order anything on the menu with confidence that it will be tasty and beautifully presented. Favorites of mine include the six kinds of appetizer tacos and the beautiful desserts (try to save room!).
