Server was somewhat lax. It took a while to get our drinks and he said the bar was busy. When he brought the second round he left the previous empty glasses on the table.
The blue corn blinis with smoked trout were absolutely lovely.
As a diner, you're in good hands at Maize - from the valet greeting guests at the entrance, to the well-designed menu choices, to the presentation of delicious and interesting food. Though Maize's dining room is attractive and well-lit, outdoor seating on the patio is magical. The menu has enough items to accommodate vegetarians and to make return visits for locals worthwhile.
Absolutely delicious creative menu. Can’t wait to return so as to try more dishes.
Still great with seasonal updates // Chef is very creative // Very nice space with style // Great staff //
First time dinners. It was excellent with very nice outdoor seating area. We will be back.
Lovely place. I was a little disappointed with my steak -- not a top of the line piece of meat. But the rest of the meal was wonderful...
We had a wonderful dinner at Maize. I ordered the rainbow trout which was cooked perfectly and served with crisp skin (fantastic!) My daughter had the chicken tacos and they were equally good. We will definitely plan to return to Maize on our next trip to Santa Fe.
Excellent food and service. Wine list and sommelier.
Maize always delivers! Order anything on the menu with confidence that it will be tasty and beautifully presented. Favorites of mine include the six kinds of appetizer tacos and the beautiful desserts (try to save room!).
This was our first visit to Maize. We had a great experience. The restaurant is relaxed but with nice décor. The service was excellent. The staff, including the owner's son, was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We started out with the duck wings with blue cheese dressing and the vegetable flatbread and both were winners. We had duck tamales as our entre and they were innovative and blended with wonderful, fresh ingredients. Definitely going back.
Lovely restaurant and when weather permitting outdoor patio.
We came with trepidation because we had never heard of this restaurant and are happy to report that it surpassed our experiences at other Santa Fe restaurants and in other cities as well. The food was creative, like the corn chowder with coconut milk and blue corn blinis with smoked trout. My husband loved his lamb two ways with a barbecue sauce that was almost like a mole and lamb shank in a pastry and I was ecstatic with my caldo verde with hominy and a perfectly balanced spicy broth. We felt like it was everything we wanted in a New Mexico taste experience.
Without question, Maize is our favorite restaurant in Santa Fe! The margaritas are great, too!
Waitstaff completely distracted from servicing inside restaurant customers due to busy outside patio business.
Maize shows the fine touch of chef and owner/operator Charles Dale. Fresh seafood, creative food, excellent service, and reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of food provided. Mark the bartender one of the very best in town. Great location, nice decor and a friendly attitude.
Just over the top with the entire family and a couple new friends!!!
We enjoyed out meal here very much. The salmon tacos were my favorite as well as the Dreamcatcher dessert. They have a great bar area as well. I would come back next visit to Santa Fe.
Sat at bar with Mark-a favorite! Great sliders, soup and salad. Delicious coffee and amazing desserts. The Dreamcatcher was a work of art!!
Interesting menu, high quality food & taste, enjoy our meal and felt it was priced correctly.
This was our first time at Maize and it was our favorite meal our entire time in Santa Fe! Service was excellent! Our server Alexis was outstanding. We shared a Kale and Romaine Caesar Salad which was delicious and both got the Steak with Chimichurri. It was one of the BEST steaks we have ever had. We will be back!
The food was exceptional, the service was extraordinary. This place is not to be missed!
In a word...Fantastic! The food was wonderful, the service very attentive without being annoying. I love Maize and will return again and again!
excellent overall. fine cocktails, wine list. shared shrimp and salmon tacos as appys, both excellent. trout and willow basket halibut also outstanding. highly recommend the smores dessert. 5 stars.
A + from start to finish! The service, the food and the ambience were all just superb.
A fantastic and extraordinary experience. We had a very delightful time and thoroughly enjoyed absolutely everything. Maize definitely has some of the BEST food in Santa Fe. I cannot think of a better meal I've had in Santa Fe. Everything from the scrumptious appetizers to the full-flavored entrees to the delectable desserts were unbelievably delicious. The service was friendly & attentive and the atmosphere was enjoyable as well. Micaela is gem and will thoroughly take care of you! Thank you Maize, we will be back often.
Oh my gosh! From the greeting to the seating to the service to the food - what a fabulous experience. The food was spectacular. So very good we will be back. And soon!!!
An absolutely amazing experience! Excellent food, engaging service, and wonderful ambiance. A trip to Santa Fe is not complete with a trip to Maize!
Outstanding every respect--ambience, service, food quality & presentation, location.
really nice service - but food was a bit uninspired - Sadly as I like the ambience and everything about the place....
The main inside dining room at Maize has an interesting, beautiful decor, the service is friendly and professional, and the wine list has many varied, interesting options. Unfortunately, the food doesn’t merit a return visit. The butternut squash soup was good and the side of chile potatoes was yummy but the blue corn blinis, avocado tacos and the poblano relleno were uninteresting, the chicken in in the chicken tacos was overcooked and dry, and the ceviche was dry too(!) Many better (and better-valued) choices for Southwestern food in Santa Fe.
We dined at Maize for the first time last Saturday and had a lovely experience. Its location, in a charming old house close to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, was very convenient to the Plaza area. We availed ourselves of the valet parking service although street parking was also available close by.
We chose to sit inside in Maize's nicely appointed dining room although we were tempted to eat outside on the pretty patio. (There is a separate bar off the patio area which we didn't try before eating although it looked quite nice and inviting. As it is completely separate from the dining room, it is a perfect arrangement, keeping a potentially active bar scene from conflicting with a quiet dining room meal.) We were greeted and seated promptly and our waitperson was delightful and attentive throughout the meal.
As for food, my husband had the Tempura Avocado Tacos to start and I had the Golden Beets and Green Beans. Both were very good. The star of the evening, however, was the Poblano Relleno with Carrot-Pinon Mole and Nogado Sauce which we both had. It was fabulous! I'd have a hard time ordering anything else! I considered trying to talk the chef into letting me buy several quarts of the sauces...
We were too full for dessert so had to call it quits after the relleno but really enjoyed our meal/evening at Maize. When we return to Santa Fe, we will certainly be back!
Food and service was excellent. I thought the kale/romaine Caesar salad was very tasty and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his kobe meatloaf.
It was our anniversary and we wanted to try their lunch-delicious-we have already recommended it to our friends. My husband had the wagu burger which he raved over. I had the SW cobb salad which had a nice smokey flavor to the components.
Thanks for a very memorable anniversary lunch-phoebe.
Great food along with outstanding, friendly service. All in all a very good place
excellent innovative tacos — both the lamb and the spicy shrimp were great!
Lovely atmosphere, great and attentive e staff and serviced the food ROCKS!
Pleasant surprise from the norm of Santa Fe. New, eclectic interior and the food is just delicious. We had the recommended corn crusted trout, which was moist and seasoned perfectly. Our other entry was duck tamale with a wonderful mole.
Our service was handled to perfection by Sara.
Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in Santa Fe. Subtle sauces, fish, game and meats cooked to perfection, inventive desserts all show that eating basically anything off the menu is a delight. This cozy intimate restaurant has a charming setting, with open air tables for al fresco dining or a beautifully designed interior and attentive wait staff. Ample parking up and down the street and behind the restaurant makes for one of the nicest dining experiences in town. The menu shows what truly great food of the Americas can be. Highly recommended!
Not your everyday menu items; food was delicious and service was great.
