Great food, everything from wine to apps to entrees overpriced.
We have eaten at Maize several times. The food is consistently good and innovative. Our service was excellent. There is a quite good but not very extensive wine list. Recommended.
Excellent food in a creative setting. Would definitely return and recommend to friends. Food was very innovative.
Ordered 5 different apps as none of us are hungry enough to order a full entree. Tapas style for us, and it was delicious. Very small quaint dining room.
REACHED A NEW LEVEL in food, service and ambience // Evening was A-Maize-ing // Best meal ever at Maize from start to finish // Some courses came out as works of art and tastes of the dishes were at an equally high level //
Great dining experience // The soup, octopus, trout and duck were stunning //
Our new favorite restaurant! Perfect!!!!! Food, ambiance, service wine were all 5 star and the dessert was 10!!!!!
One of the finest dining experiences available today in Santa Fe. Service, atmosphere and cuisine combine to make an exceptional evening. Highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The new decor is lovely. The food was excellent. The chef came out and introduced himself to us. This may become our new fav in Santa Fe. It’s not inexpensive, but I highly recommend it!
The restaurant is very pretty and our waiter was very nice. my girlfriend and I shared an order of the Halibut dish on the menu. When the fish arrived we both agreed it had a very fishy oder and taste. The waiter was informed but the fish remained on the table for another 20 minutes. we were billed $32. for the fish even though we did not eat it. With so many choices in Santa Fe neither one of us will return anytime soon.
outstanding creative local takes on New Mexico cuisine, outstanding cocktails. Great service and lovely ambience
A friend took me to Maize for my birthday. Neither of us had ever been before. It was a Tuesday night so not a big crowd but the service was fantastic, the food superb and wine delicious. I highly recommend Maize, with its food of the Americas featuring (no surprise) corn. Lovely evening!
This was our second visit to Maize. I was pleased to see the menu had changed slightly based on the season so this experience was completely different from our first (both were excellent). The cocktails feature local spirits and are made from simple ingredients so you really know what you're consuming. They're delicious! The food is also outstanding, and the ambiance is so cozy it feels like you're dining in someone's home. Our service was impeccable and we never once felt rushed. A very, very pleasant evening and yes, we shall be back!
TOTALLY FANTASTIC! WE DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A THING! SERVICE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN BETTER. CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK AGAIN!
Hit or miss
Outstanding food from the Americas with a unique Southwestern touch. From handcrafted cocktails to wine pairing and creative/delicious desserts, an evening to remember.
Interesting menu, Food really delicious. Good wine menu. Redo of premises very lovely.
Stayed in the bar and had Margaritas, wine and wonderful nachos. Mark, the bartender is a real gem. Takes his time to talk and laugh with customers.
Everything was amazing!!!!
Great service and delicious food! The duck wings from the bar menu are a must and the rainbow trout was outstanding with a side of grits!
Fantastic food, nice ambiance
Not at all close to what it should be for the price or the reputation. Very disappointing and a very much less satisfying experience than it sister restaurant.
Second visit to Maize. And (I promise not to do this again) it was amaizing! Exceptionally well thought out menu with creative visual and taste associations. Now after 4 apps and 4 mains and 2 desserts we have not one thing to complain about. Service on a unusually busy Saturday night was attentive and thorough. We will be back.
Atmosphere nice, quiet and cozy. Expensive food for what it is. Recipes need a bit of tweaking.
bad desserts and slow service and small portions and expensive
We went to Maize before a concert at the near Lensic theatre on a Friday. It was the slow time of the year so the number of patrons was small. More were at or near the bar than at the main seating area. Service was excellent, but may not be as good at the height of the tourist season. The ambience was great. An interesting combination of kachinas, paintings, and branches. The menu selections were not extensive, but almost all seemed interesting, and the majority were gluten free. Slightly dark to my taste but not excessively so. I loved the tamale appetizer, my stuffed poblano chile, and the lavender flan. My wife loved her "wicker basket" steamed fish, and her desert.
Excellent short menu. Regional influence. Well spaced tables. Great ambience
The food varied from OK (salad and tuna appetizer) to quite good (entrees), but the markup on the wine was 150%, so we would not go back for that reason.
We sat in the bar and had some excellent appetizers. Looking forward to trying the dining room at some point soon!
Great food and wonderful service! Will be back again for sure :)
The service was impeccable, from beginning to end. Whenever I book using Open Table (often), I always put "quiet table if available" in the special requests field. The Maitre d at Maize was the first ever to make note of this and accommodate us with a lovely quiet table.
We went for Restaurant Week, and Maize was offering a $45 prix fixe meal comprised of an appetizer, entree and dessert. My husband is not much of a dessert eater, and asked if he could have two appetizers and no dessert. Again, he was graciously accommodated. Service was professional and attentive throughout the meal.
Some of the food combinations were pretty ambitious, but the chef carried every one of them off with a flair. The duck tamales in a pool of mole were out of this world.
Even though the exotic-sounding "chocolate log" dessert turned out to be a mundane chocolate eclair, we had a marvelous meal and look forward to returning.
Just good experience. Very quiet, good service and wine.
Perfect to go with friends and talk
Great menu for Santa Fe restaurant week - excellent food & service
We'd been dying to try this new spot and jumped on it for Restaurant Week-so glad that we did!
We also went to another spot this week and it didn't hold a candel to Maize.
Our meals were excellent-Both appetizers were delicious(soup and prawn)The Pork was a bit too spicey ,overpowering the flavor palate but it was wonderfully tender. The trout was perfect. The deserts were not the high point of the meal but overall an excellent meal-We will be back!!
Fantastic food, wonderful atmosphere!
Excellent meal for restaurant week. Great choices- everyone was pleased. Good service. Great bartender.
Good menu for Restaurant Week in February. However, pork tenderloin was almost drowned in sauce hiding flavor of the meat.
Loved the original menu and were disappointed with the changes. The pork was so heavy with green chilies as to be nearly inedible, especially for a tourist. We weren’t warned about the “heat” level. It is still unclear whether any of the bar food is available in the main dining room.
Attractive venue. Varied menu. Good wine list. Attentive but unobtrusive service. We really enjoyed our evening!
This is a really nice restaurant however I found everything to be overpriced especially the hors d’oeuvres and the alcohol. I will be more prepared next time.
