Linger, the second concept behind Root Down's Chef/Owner Justin Cucci is located in Denver's Lower Highlands neighborhood. Linger’s vibrant menu reflects a broad farm-to-street sensibility with a spin on traditional ethnic eats. Design elements can be described as a purposeful contradiction featuring reclaimed boxcar floors, a brick ellipse, a Lite Brite bar top and infinity windows with incredible views into downtown Denver. The food, the service, the story combine to extract a feeling. Linger is like a mixtape, and we hope it connects. We’re not trying to reinvent food -- it’s simpler than that. We hope to elicit a feeling – like you get when you hear your favorite song.

Linger Ratings and Reviews
Always hesitate going to Linger because despite their excellent food service always lacks. The first time I had dinner here was a pleasant surprise in regards to service. Drinks were full and food came out almost too quickly. Note: On Tuesday's Linger has a special 3 for $33. Pick 2 Full sized share plates and dessert.
The food was so varied and every single thing we got was delicious (and a larger portion than we expected based on our experience with shared plates). The waiter was very attentive and always came back at just the right time.
We were also able to wait at the bar while we waited for our table and quickly found 2 seats and were able to get drinks quickly, which we took to our table when it was ready.
We have also been here for brunch and that was just as excellent.
I went to Linger for two reasons: 1) because I had heard great things about it as a restaurant, and 2) because it was one of four places in Colorado that served the new Impossible Burger and I wanted to try that. The restaurant atmosphere was comfortable and interesting. The service (our server's name was Sarah) was prompt, friendly and attentive. Linger's street version of the Impossible Burger is Persian Sliders, which is what I ordered. Without going into how impressed I was with the burger product, the sliders overall were delicious. The topping combination was sensational, the portion size was just right and I have to say, the Arnold Palmer here is very special!
Creative and delicious food; service as good as it gets anywhere in Boulder, which is where I'm from. Well worth the drive!
Linger was recommended to me by a local (I was in town for a business trip). I walked over, was greeted warmly and seated right away - I had made reservations just an hour before. The menu is funky, the food is grouped by region such as N America and Caribbean, Middle East, etc. I had a Bao Bun (taco style) and lamb kabobs. The kabob were more like a lamb sausage with a skewer through them and resting on a small tortilla type round. Not at all what I think of when I hear kabob. it was fine, a bit spicier than I was expecting.
They did have a 3 course meal for $33 that looked like a great deal, but I wasn't that hungry. you could choose from a few different apps, entrees and dessert to build you meal.
I'd go back again as there were other dishes that I wanted to try.
We had New Years Eve 2017 dinner at Linger. We had been considering trying Linger out for awhile and NYE seemed like a great time. Was a little hesitant due to the $85/per person but thought it would be well worth it. Well, we were wrong. Our server was less than professional, spilling wine while filling glasses. It was very obvious he spilled yet he completely ignored his actions. I was also extremely surprised at the quantity and quality of our 4 course meal. My girlfriend and I chose the lamb, and it was very good. The Wagu tataki tasted like it was prepared the day before and left in the walk in for the night. We chose both available deserts (Cotton Cheesecake / Rice Pudding) and unfortunately both were awful.
Linger maybe worth a visit on a non event evening, however, I highly advise not visiting during a preset menu. My party was extremely disappointed in the service and quality of food offered.
What a fabulous and amazing meal, staff, drinks, and spot to spend NYE 2017. Wow. The meal was incredible, but honestly, we were most impressed by the staff. They were friendly, exceedingly helpful and pleasant, so much so that we bought the staff a few cases of beer when we left for our NYE celebrations. We loved just sitting and being together and they servers weren't in our faces or pushy. The food was A++ but the staff is truly the reason why I'm going back every time I am in Denver.
The food was amazing. Always a little twist, an unexpected ingredient. The Spanish Gin & Tonic was bright and refreshing. Their take on the Corpse Reviver was a little too dark for my taste, still finished it mine you, but prefer the more citrus based drinks.
Never been to Linger for lunch before. The steelhead trout bento box was beyond delicious. I tasted the Impossible Burger my mostly plant-based eating friend ordered. The "burger" was totally convincing to this carnivore. Also, although it was crowded as always, the energy level seemed more lowkey at lunch than it usually is at dinner. I'm so glad this restaurant is a long drive or I would go much too often.
Fantastic staff at Linger. They managed to pull off a delightful anniversary surprise for us, which my daughter had arranged. Everyone there is so friendly and attentive.
And even more fantastic is the food. Everything we tried had rich layers of flavor.
The only downside…it's a bit noisy for conversation. but we enjoyed the exposed kitchen work. And there's a great view of Denver, too.
We’d been hearing about Linger for about a year before finally visiting. The one good thing about it is that the kids’ meals are very good and served with plenty of veggies. We appreciate that because we isually have to calculate portions off a regular menu to ensure our kids get a healthy meal.
However, while the regular menu items sounded interesting and tasty, the execution of our dishes was quite poor. I had tom yum soup which was very bland and soggy pad thai with tough vegetables. My husband had lamb chops, served room temperature. Non-alcoholic drink options were few. Poor table service. I suspect that the kitchen can’t handle the too-varied menu.
My husband and I were visiting Denver for the first time. A friend recommended Linger to us so we went for lunch. We were starving and Linger did not disappoint. The bacon wrapped dates and drunken ramen were phenomenal. We had a lot of good of eats in Denver but we both agreed that Linger was by far our favorite!
