Koi Ratings and Reviews
Koi is simply awesome. It never disappoints with the quality in all aspects always at a high level. My wife and I go a few times a year for a special night out. We took a close friend this past Saturday night to celebrate her birthday. It was perfect. Each dish we ordered, brought a laugh from us at her food orgasmic response. She is a foodie and knows restaurants but exclaimed it was the best meal she had ever had out.
The service was impeccable, both quick and courteous. We always have the feeling the servers there love working there, since we experience their big smiles and upbeat attitude. The atmosphere is so great. Relaxing and upscale without feeling pretentious.
We have never had a dish we didn't love. It really comes down to what foods excite you. Key amazing dishes for us is the Sticky Rice with Tuna, Salmon Carpaccio, Kobe Beef Potstickers, Baked Crab Hand Roll, Shrimp Tempura Hand Roll and of course for appetizers Edamame and Roasted Shishito Peppers are a must.
Koi is the best sushi in all of LA in our opinion. It is essentially our favorite restaurant here period. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this wonderful West Hollywood gem.
I have to say I’m a bit disappointed.. we came once few years ago and it was very expensive and we dine out a lot and spend money. We decided to come back and it was the same. The drinks are much smalller then your average drink, 3 sips and we were done, usually 2 margaritas and I’m buzzed, had 4 and I was fine. Sushi was really goood but all the beer dishes we got were below average and expensive. $400 and left hungry. Service was good. Prefer katana any day.
I made a reservation, they called and confirmed my reservation and I let them know that we were celebrating my dads birthday. I asked them to do something special. When I got there they couldn’t find my reservation. I had to talk to 3 different people who were too preoccupied with other things before confirming my reservation (rude, poor customer service). Finally got seated and the waitress was at least helpful but they didn’t do anything special for my dad’s birthday despite my request over the phone. Very disappointed. For what I paid, was expecting a decent night. Didn’t get that. Won’t be coming here for special occasions next time. What a disappointment.
As visitors to LA, Koi was recommended to us by a local. It did not fail to impress with its chic but relaxed ambiance and its wonderful food. Service was top-notch, too, with a charming server who was on-point without being intrusive. Even the cocktails were exciting (Try their "Lychee Heat" creation). We selected a series of hand rolls and each one was tastier than the last. We could not have enjoyed the evening more. You cannot go wrong with a meal at Koi.
Service was excellent food was good but drinks were TERRIBLE which really killed it. I think a place like this should at least have decent drinks after sending back one round we had another round that was just bad not terrible. A place with such good food deserves better cocktails.
