Kevin Taylor's At The Opera House Ratings and Reviews
The KT opera house restaurant in Denver and in Central City is only open to the public on opera nights. We always look forward to our opera nights at both locations. The entire restaurant organization is exceptional, including the management and some of the best wait and bar staff anywhere. We have befriended a couple of them who make our visits extra special. The food is always inspiring, beautifully presented, unique, and delicious. Thank you Kevin Taylor and family.
The menu is beyond weird with totally unrecognizable items - milk jam? coffee crumbs? shortrib croquette? carrot cake donut hole? We allowed 90 minutes for dinner. Did not order drinks, and still barely made it to the opera on time. Our entree finally arrived one hour and five minutes after we got there, and had to bolt it down to get to the opera on time. Waitress was very helpful and apologetic - not her fault.
Our dinner Friday evening at Kevin Taylor at the Opera was a major disappointment. We placed our dinner order before 6:00 but were not served until 7:10. We had just enough time for a couple of bites before running to our 7:30 opera. Although the manager was very apologetic and covered our meal, we would not return.
This is one of my favorite places before the symphony. Everything was exceptional. We had their salmon perfectly cooked. The salad was a heirloom tomatoe and it was terrific. Decided to share a dessert, very chocolate, very tasty, and delicious ice cream too.
Kevin Taylor's is an elegant dining experience. The decor, table spacing, and ambience make for a quiet, intimate evening. The food is high level cuisine and each dish is as beautiful as it is delectable. The wait staff is knowledgeable, attentive, yet unobtrusive and pace the meal as befitting a truly special occasion.
Just outstanding, from the ambiance, the food, service, and our very pleasant waitress, and staff. It could not have been a better evening, and, we lingered for 3 hours at our table because of our enjoyment, and never felt rushed.
Thank you for a most memorable evening!
We went during restaurant week and they did not skimp on anything. The food was delicious with complex flavors, the service could not have been any better and nothing beats the atmosphere here. If you have never been here, do anything you can to experience it....you will not be disappointed!
I consider myself a foodie, and this was one of the, if not the, all time best meals I've ever had. I could eat the Butternut Squash Gnudi every day and still love the complex depth of flavors. The fact that the atmosphere is so stunningly gorgeous and peaceful add even more to the experience. To die for!!!
I recently dined their for the first time for Restaurant Week with a group of five. The restaurant was nicely set up - interesting how if it's right by the opera room. The food was wonderful and so was the service - for the most part. We asked for split checks however, and that created a bit of an issue. Management was there and helped a lot but it would have be nice to have been given an update by our server. We could hear her complaining about the process but she never came back to the table after the whole experience. I understand splitting checks can be complicated (we were willing to do it ourselves, but she said she could handle it). Overall though, I know we are not the first and wont be the last to request multiple tabs, so best to not complain so close to your table. Food was great though.
The room is wonderful with large space between tables and interesting art lining the walls. The service was outstanding. It was our first visit and so we took advantage of the restaurant week menu of NY strip loin and lamb loin. Both were tender and cooked as desired. The twice baked sweet potato soup was extraordinary! Everything was delicious except for the desserts. The crème brûlée had a large blob of marshmallow which I was unable to cut to put in my mouth. The pretzel was so hard I couldn't break it with my teeth. The cheesecake scoops really didn't taste like cheesecake at all. When we told our server about the disappointing desserts, she brought a small carrot cake that had fondant on outside which tasted like wax. The Kevin Taylor restaurant is a great place to eat. Hopefully they will get a new dessert chef!
Loved my meal here on Friday from restaurant week, my only complaint would be the atmosphere. It really feels like an event space as it is really large with bright lighting. Not a cozy upscale dining experience like I expected. Our server (and his beard) were phenomenal.
This is a big room. Tables are spaced far apart, so your conversation is easy and private. My wife and I love this but our other couple wished for a little more contact with others, a little more bustle. There are oodles of too-noisy places, so enjoy this.
The food, excellent. The cocktails, excellent. The service, excellent. Pure Kevin Taylor concept and execution. Creative and delightful dishes, not just a piece of meat accompanied by a pod of potato and another pod of veggie-of-the-moment. Wonderful desserts, too, by the way, at once luxurious and light.
Easily on my list of best restaurants in Colorado. An upscale treat.
The only downside is that it isn't open six days a week. Opening coincides with performances at the Performing Arts Center, so call ahead. But it is definitely worth seeking it out.
I love dining at Kevin Taylor's at the Opera house. Staff is attentive and accommodating. My date needed a diary free option to their Denver Restaurant week menu and they had no problem with making the needed modifications to meet out needs and the was really no drop off in the quality and taste of our meals.
Great room, feels like a high end old time elegant restaurant. You feel like ti would be great for a black tie event. Outside of theatre hours, always easy to get in and get a table, staff is great and accommodating, kitchen always helpful with dietary restrictions.
Great food, appetizers were definitely not big enough, they're meant to get the stomach going and that was not complete with these appetizers for the price a little more quantity wouldn't hurt. Servers were so so definitely didn't listen to my request of doing the set wine list with each course and one class of my choice extra dude just kept charging me and giving me the same stuff.
I have been going to Kevin Taylor's since it first opened. I particularly like it when they have short ribs and polenta and wish they had it all the time but the other food is excellent also the wine list is extensive however most of it is by the bottle and for one person a bottle is too much wish they had a more extensive list by the glass I have also been there for several parties and their munchies are wonderful as well as their desserts but I am one of those weird people that doesn't like chocolate so would like to see a few more non-chocolate selections in the dessert munchies I love the location because you can go there and be right at the opera house so just need to go upstairs from the restaurant without having to go outside and walk blocks and blocks it isn't inexpensive but it is excellent
