About Hapa Sushi Grill and Sake Bar Lodo
The name Hapa is derived from the Hawaiian term that describes a harmonious blend of Asian and American cultures. Like our name, our food reflects this dynamic combination. The menu is based on traditional Japanese cooking fundamentals which are then amplified, muted, or mixed with influences from many different styles of cooking until they are something completely new: they’re Hapa. We have stretched the boundaries of creativity to develop dishes that defy all the rules while holding true to our roots. We hope you will find our menu innovative, uninhibited, and distinctly fun! Incomplete parties will not be sat until complete.

Hapa Sushi Grill and Sake Bar Lodo Ratings and Reviews
We frequent this restaurant and love their selection of sushi and non-sushi items (my husband is not a fish/seafood eater). I love raw fish and appreciate that I can trust Hapa to serve up the freshest fish and also offers a gluten-free menu. We met friends there this last Friday, we were able to have a great conversation (not too loud), lovely ambiance, and our server Gabriela was the absolute best. Thanks, Hapa!
Very, very, very slow service-- from both the wait staff and the kitchen. We waited 10 minutes for a gluten free menu and then waited another 30 minutes for food. We had to eat so fast, because we had an event to get to, that we didn't get to enjoy our sushi. We just shoveled it in and left. Very disappointed.
Came from out of town looking for a good place to eat and we loved it here! Their sushi was great and the food was delicious. Loved the prices as well!
Only complaints were that the miso soup was VERY salty and the seaweed salad had more lettuce than seaweed.
I have always loved Haps. Mainly the Hapa in Boulder but for my birthday I decided to invite my friends out for a night out town and Hapa - Lodo was the restaurant of choice. Here are some things that I love about Hapa: they have a gluten free menu, they have gluten free drinks, they have gluten free soy sauce, I love the ambiance, service and I like the food! Here are some considerations for them to keep in mind: bigger booths are always fun for special occasions as they are more intimate but their booths only hold max 4 people I believe, the price of alcohol was a little too much, the chairs were pretty close together and found myself backing into the person behind me. Overall though service was great and our bills came out as expected even though they were a bit complicated. Overall I was happy with my visit!
Hapa is a great place for dates, business meetings, and casual bites. The two levels of the building can get loud so I would recommend either asking for a corner table in the back on the main level or a booth upstairs. The atmosphere is casual and professional. My favorite appetizer is "Monkey Brain" which is basically tempera avocado deliciousness. Their "Expert" rolls names can make a join woman blush but if you can get past those I would highly recommend the Multiple O's roll - when you go you will see a theme in my favorites - tempera and spicy mayo - so good but in moderation. Can't go wrong with ~5 rolls for two people. Have never been disappointed. I keep coming back because I know what I like, price is right, and of course ability to use Open Table is a huge plus! Don't go for wine or other beverages they have a most impressive Saki list. Check it out!
Took my wife here for her 1st time sushi experience. She loved it and is looking forward to going back again! The menu gives you plenty of choices to pick from that lets you warm up from beginner rolls to the more experienced (love the names!). The sushi, service and everything about the evening was excellent. We will be back soon.
When we first walked in, we stood at the podium waiting to be acknowledged (the hostess wasn't there). A bartender walked by us twice but didn't even say hi or better yet "someone will be with you shortly". The hostess finally came back from upstairs and seated us.
We had trouble getting drinks refilled and had asked our server for additional ginger but it never arrived. Disappointing.
The food was great tho!
Food was good & service was nice but this place is a magnet for loud drunks who don't care that they ruin the dining experience for others. We eat out downtown often, & we are not prudes, but this was just miserable. Would happily eat at another Hapa location, tho!
When I checked in for my reservation for a party of two, I made clear I was waiting for a guest, and described him. I was seated upstairs. I received a text from my guest 15 minutes later, who had been seated by himself at a table downstairs and outside -- wondering where I was. Whoever seated him didn't get the message that this reservation already had been seated elsewhere.
When we finally connected, service was very slow. Between the delay in finding each other, the delay in getting our lunch order taken, the delay in being served, the delay in having the check presented and the delay in cashing out, we were there for 90 minutes. A sushi restaurant should be able to handle two guests for lunch in an hour or less, so this was a little disappointing.
The food was great.
If you like sushi you must go here! Excellent food, cool atmosphere (DJ at night), good drinks. Went with friends & there was something on menu for everyone. Server was friendly but lacked some knowledge of menu items (maybe she was new?)...I would still recommend this awesome spot!
A great LoDo spot for great Soosh and Sashimi. Very creative rolls (along with the standard fare) and all was very fresh (which is critical for Sushi). Of note, the often overlooked "rice" was served "just right." Service was fast and friendly - great for business lunch!
We have frequented the various Hapa establishments along the front range for the last ten years. The LoDo location at 15th and Blake is our favorite, bar none.
We have fantastic service every time we come to this Hapa. We have some food allergies in our family, and the Hapa staff is knowledgeable and very accommodating.
Hapa has a very unique style, with their Hawaiian-Japanese-fusion menu. You can find traditional Japanese fare on the menu, but anyone going to Hapa should venture out and try some of their original offerings!
I've been here several times now, and it never disappoints. The sushi is spot-on, the service is great, and I'd definitely come back for a few happy hour drinks! Located in the Lower Downtown (LoDo) area it's easy to get to, and there are plenty of other bars in the area to check out afterwards!
