A come back restaurant!!
I had a great meal at Gwen once before, and decided to host my birthday dinner thereafter. What a mistake!
Despite the fact that we were the largest group at the restaurant, our waiter NEVER check-in on us throughout the meal.
He warned us that the steaks take about an hour to prepare. Nevertheless, the two steaks we ordered (Porterhouse and NY Strip) took 90+ minutes. After the serving staff delivered our knives, it took another 20 minutes for the steaks to come out.
The server simply didn't care about our experience and couldn't didn't deliver the birthday dessert until well after we had paid the bill.
After spending $800 and feeling lousy about my experience, I have no intention of going back.
379$ for an average diner.... hated the set menu
We went to Gwen for the Valentines Day prix fixe meal. Everything was wonderful, down to the bread and butter. The first course, a market greens salad was enhanced with grapes, pomegranate seeds and watermelons radishes. The dressing was subtle but tasty. The main course, Tasmanian trout was perfectly cooked. The accompanying broccolini was a surprise; I usually find it bitter but this was nicely prepared and with a subtle taste. The dessert was a revelation - woodsmoke infused chocolate cheesecake. What a stunning combo.
The service was immaculate, the restaurant is elegant. A spectacular way to celebrate VD with my wife
We made a reservation at Gwen for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. The thing that caught my eye when deciding to book at Gwen was the aesthetics and the decently priced menu. This place DID NOT DISAPPOINT! When we arrived the hostess asked if she could take my coat. I felt so special. Then we were able to relax in their lounge area before our reservation and enjoy an appetizer. We were checked on consistently by the bartenders wait staff. Our server was amazingly attentive and had great recommendations for each of our courses. The food was made to perfection and we ate every bite. Thank you for making our dinner amazing! We can’t wait to come back!
We enjoyed the five course tasting menu and every course was just right - both in execution and taste!
Highly recommend this since it gives you a great way to sample the different items they have.
The five-course tasting menu was a winner. Each course highlighted a unique aspect of the menu beginning with the charcuterie board. The duck fat potatoes and beets were perfect sides for our perfectly done NY Steak.
We have been to Gwen several times and have always enjoyed the food and service. This last visit, we found the restaurant to be very noisy with small children in a large party. I love kids, but at the price point of Gwen, I am not willing to sacrifice my dining experience. We chose the tasting course and found that each course was presented in a rushed manner with the explanation being delivered quickly with no eye contact. As we had a first timer to Gwen with us, the service was really disappointing. Our waiter was great, but he did not serve the food. Writing this review as constructive criticism as we love Gwen and have come to expect great service from them!
The food was delicious and the service top notch. I would go back again!
Loved it all.
Food was fantastic! I'm still thinking about the meal 2 days later and want to go again.
Everything was well prepared and very good quality, from the meat entrees to the house bread. The kurabota pork chop had a fantastically flavorful coating made of black mustard and herbs (rosemary, etc. And the house bread was oven-hot, and had a nice crispy crust that was buttery and salted.
Second visit. This is a perfect restaurant!
Steak and experience both great. Very special touches, a restaurant you are sure to remember, from picking your own steak knife, to the gorgeous open style kitchen. Loved.
Great food and great service. A happening place. The drinks were the bomb. Best Vesper I have ever had. Expect to drop some big bucks at this place but it is worth every penny.
Of course I would not take my vegan friends.
Lovely decor ! Great experience and awesome food ! Great service just a lil pricey but will go back again !
Why haven't I been here before? I have always been curious, loving both Maude and Curtis Stone's Share restaurant on Princess Cruises, but hadn't tried Gwen yet. We tried the Dine LA menu though the Taste of Gwen also looked amazing. We ended up trying the Dine LA as it featured the special wagyu beef we wanted to try. Service was amazing, all the servers were pleasant and professional. The room decor is very pretty but not too formal. There is counter seating at the theater kitchen if that interests you. The stars of the menu to me were the charcuterie and bread. Oh my, the bread was the best bread ever and the board of meats and pickles were delicious. The wagyu been was meltingly tender and cooked perfectly. Servers did not ask what temperature to prepare the steak, it just came the perfect medium rare. By the time dessert came around, we were very full so asked the server to only bring one dessert and box the other to take home. What a nice surprise when we opened the take out box to find two dessert portions! A treat. The dinner was a 5 star experience. My only suggestion for Gwen is to please add a Malbec to your wine list! My favorite wine to have with steak. We will be back.
The best bread ever tastes like movie theater popcorn, crispy duck fat potatoes in a delicious vinegar dipping sauce.
Had an amazing date night with great food and amazing service. Went for dineLA and the course meal was excellent. Did come in underestimating the amount of food we could eat and was only able to take a single bite of dessert near the end. Still overall amazing. 10/10
Great until we were hustled out after spending nearly $1000, while other tables were empty.
Went during DineLA week and ordered the lunch on the DineLA menu. Delicious salad with a light vinegarette dressing with pomegranate seeds. Main entree was half roasted chicken with potatoes fried in duck fat. The potatoes were piping hot and crispy! Dessert was a delicious pear sorbet. Would definitely go back to Gwen!
Everything was amazing!
Taste is fine nothing really stimulating the taste buds. NY steak fine although ( bearnaise I believe was lacking and totally not enjoyable) Also wonder why tomatoes are featured in a Dorade in January. Dessert, Frangipane and Blackberry Tart while sounds fine was really ordinary and lacking any excitement.
Lamb Ribs were Excellent.
The food was excellent as usual. My server, Amanda, was amazing! She was on top of her game with ensuring my guest and I were happy. She also made great drink suggestions! I will absolutely recommend Gwen to everyone.
Beside it was a bit fresh in the Restaurant, everything was very good.
The flame cooked meats were unbelievable. Still a pricey institution, but worth every dime.
This was my second time there and it was outstanding as was the first. Highly recommend for Carnivores!
Incredible waiter, delicious food. Great table as well. The only negative was that we were chilled most of our meal. Overall a top notch experience.
The service and food was spectacular. We celebrated our four year anniversary.
Highly recommend Gwen for any occasion.
Make sure you know you will be a paying a few bucks before you go otherwise worth every dollar.
The food s amazing!! Truly one of the best steak places I've ever been to.
I've been quite often and adore it. The waiters -- some are great, som not so much, which is usual for anywhere these days. Even the not so much are better than most.
This is very expensive but worth it.
Excellent food, Service and ambiance. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful, as always!
Great NYE dinner experience. That Wagyu was to die for! Highly recommended
One of the loveliest restaurant spaces in Los Angeles. The food is creative, thoughtfully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The service is excellent. It is not inexpensive, but for any special occasion, it’s my first choice.
Thank you for an enjoyable holiday season dinner. Pleasant, helpful & efficient staff.
Great experience. Food and service was great as usual. The lamb ribs, oysters, steak, and blackberry frangipane were the highlights.
A pleasant Christmas meal offering for the holiday season. Very memorable food
It's fine. There are better steak places in LA but this one has a nice Bearnaise sauce .
Not really. Expensive and lttle effort to justify the expense.
