    Food - there was plenty of it, but unfortunately it just wasn’t good. With the exception of the sopapillas, those were delicious. Service was slow and once he dropped off the check, he was non-existent. He was polite and knew the menu well, perhaps he just had too many tables.

    Father's day, shift change so we exercised patience. We had reservations and were seated within 5 minutes, but 40 minutes before our order was taken.

    I made a reservation well in advance for this Father's Day lunch with our son and daughter-in-law. They gave our table to someone else and then they waned to seat us inside as a wait-list group. I said I requested outdoor seating, they walked us back to the front desk and they told us there is a mix up that it would be a couple of minutes. Ten minutes later, my husband went back up and said what is the problem, we had a reservation? We were then seated in the far BACK of the outdoor patio and we waited and waited. We had to get our own water from an empty table that had water already and as a recurring guest, we were ignored and had to speak with the manager. He was exceptional in handling the situation.

    I was one of those folks that would defend El Pinto. Not anymore. We were greeted by arrogant hosts, followed by another arrogant server. This would be ok as long as food was good. Sadly, food was not. I ordered the brunch burrito with undercooked hashbrowns, rubbery bacon, and weak chile. They forgot an item that came with my meal and the server argued with me that it was there, until I showed her it wasn't. Basic Hospitality: Rule #1 - Cook food properly Rule#2 - Don't argue with customer (especially when you are blatantly wrong) Rule#3 - Don't act like you are doing the customer a favor. We are doing you a favor by keeping you employed.

    We were sat on the patio away from everything so ambience wasn’t what it usually is. However it was a last minute reservation so that was ok. Our server was absolutely amazing! I don’t remember our servers name but he was from Chicago and super outgoing and attentive! We never did not have a beverage. The only bad part were the steaks that were ordered rare, barely had any pink and the salads were served AFTER the mains were served. This happened last time too :( Food is decent but it’s always cold.) We love the ambience and our server made it worth the effort.

    My husband & I en a late lunch /early dinner last Friday, after arriving in Albuquerque to visit relatives. I had been last year with friends & once again it was wonderful. Love the setting. Ambiance is amazing. In upper 80’s weather, the shade & fans made the dinner quite enjoyable! ( We’re from Dallas and had considered eating inside. Glad we got to sit in a beautiful area with a stage, possibly a wedding venue? Great server, who didn’t rush us. Cute flowers on table. We had the queso, salsa & chips to start. I loved the salsa, but queso was too hot for me. Surprisingly, my husband loved the queso, but he felt the salsa was too hot. I ordered Chicken Quesadillas which were amazing! He got Enchiladas with mild sauce & it was perfect. Nothing left on his plate. Complimentary sopapillas with honey were nice. I would prefer cinnamon sugar on them, but maybe that’s Tex-Mex? Our daughter & family from Colorado recommended El Pinto to me last year after their visit! Hope to return for more next year. .
