Deep Roots Winery & Bistro
Quaint and casual with metal tractor seats for chairs. Food was OK, but a little bland. We had a risotto dish and gnocci. The red wine was good, but slightly expensive. The staff never asked if we wanted anything else and simply took our plates and brought us the check 10 minutes later. A couple of the desserts looked tempting and we would have had another glass of wine, but the waitress couldn't be bothered I guess.
They advertise themselves as a tapas restaurant, but they definitely are not. Don't know if our server was new to serving or just very shy, but the interactions were extremely awkward. We finished our main drinks during the appetizer and were never asked if we wanted another drink. To her credit we did get our water glasses refilled once. I do highly recommend the Baked Brie. Would be a good place if you're interested in trying new wines, as they make the vast majority in-house.
Charming and unique.
We enjoyed our date night dinner at Deep Roots. My wife had a wine flight with food pairing and I ordered a few dishes and individual glasses of wine. Food quality was good, but a little pricey consider plate size. The noise level was pretty high, thus I would not call it a romantic venue. However, the service was good, and we enjoyed our time. Definitely a place to go for after work drinks. We will be back.
This was our second time here. Overall it was good. Would have liked our server to have explained our charcuterie board when she brought it. The temperature was very cold both times we went. The Barbera wine is so good!
This place is a gem! We were a party of 4 and got to taste many items with our wine choices. Every item perfectly prepared and great matches with delightful wine choices. Do not miss: a wine flight, bruschetta bites. Finishing with the Red Wine Truffles a must and quite memorable!
Teara. Liz, Steve and Camron - wonderful hosts, as well as great educators. A lot of FUN!
The service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable; the pumpkin ravioli is amazing and we enjoyed the rose as well. The pizza was tasty, but it was a bit undercooked. Overall, we had a great time!
Fun, quiet spot. Lovely wines.
The wine was great. Between my wife and me we ordered three different wines and tasted two more. They offered to let us taste more but we were done. All delicious. Great staff. Only problem is that seats are not comfortable. When I return to Denver I will go back. Food was delicious too.
The service was excellent, we had a lovely waiter. Food was delicious and you could tell is was personalize. Wine selection was excellent, I chose a make your own flight so I got to try 5 different wines. I chose a delicious cabernet in the end.
The food was great! We were able to catch happy hour and try a few different items. Our server was very patient and helpful with choosing our wines. We can’t wait to go back!
Service was stellar, food was pretty good too. A great and not-too-crowded spot with classy vibes.
It was my wife’s birthday. The service was impeccable, with everyone wishing her a happy birthday and having the table arranged for her. Everything we ordered was amazing, with massive portions and great flavors. I’ve been here before and the wine is always some of the best in the town, but their recent 2019 bottling shows just the range they can get to. This is an essential downtown spot that I hope stays a secret but because of how good it is I know will soon be a popular go to for all wine enthusiasts.
Excellent food and service. The red wine flight was wonderful and we both thoroughly enjoyed the charcuterie selections. Really nice ambiance for a date night. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great glass of wine with equally great food.
Great location and great atmosphere. Had a light dinner before the basketball game and it was perfect. The wine flight was great and the cheese board was fantastic. Service was great too.
We chose Deep Roots for a Girls Night Out before catching a show at the Paramount and it ended up being the perfect experience! The ambiance was spot-on, the waiter was very helpful with our wine selection, the food was delicious, and even the hostess went out of her way to help us find our way to the Paramount. I will definitely be coming again!
Great food, great wine, great service. They also provide military discounts. Can’t wait to go again.
Cold place with the winery vats1. Really uncomfortable tractor seats! Very hard and it was distracting from our food.
Deep Roots was enjoyable. On the evening we went (a Wednesday), there happened to only be one serving the entire place that had many guests. There were very long stretches inbetween getting food or wine. Since this was my first visit, I can’t say if this it typical service level. If we didn’t have a schedule to keep, it might not have mattered. I will go back to try it again.
We went for restaurant week. The staff were extremely accommodating for myself as a vegan and my girlfriend as a vegetarian. Food was delicious although portions were small. Wine pairings were excellent. Would definitely come back!
We were there for restaurant week. Food was disappointingly just okay. The wine was okay, but nothing spectacular. It was kind of pricey for the quality. We will not be returning.
This was a change of scenery from what I'm normally used to, but it was a good experience with the food. Great tasting food and wine. The waitress was very short with us and didn't seem very friendly. That is my only complaint.
Went during Denver restaurant week. So money value was good. Didn’t look at the regular menu however. Food was delicious nothing out of the ordinary. Ask for pairings of wine. Best part of meal for sure!
We went during Denver restaurant week, so who knows. It was a fixed price menu with a couple of choices for each course.
At least for the restaurant week, the wine pairings were included in the menu. The food was served in small portions, perfectly presented and flavorful. The paired wines were good quality.
Overall though we were disappointed. We'd been let down by our babysitter at 5he last minute, so she cam along. As a 10 year old, she has few needs, we asked for some plain chicken, baked or pan fried. As they had a chicken wrap on the menu, so this didn't seem much of a special request. They couldn't help.
Restaurant Week renew. Wine is fantastic. Soup was not cool and not hot. An awkward room temp. Dessert was large and the main dishes were small. An odd balance. I would be back for wine, but probably not food.
We had a wonderful time and superb service tonight. Thank you for encapsulating what restaurant week is supposed to be! Trying and sampling the wonderfulness of a multitude of foods and house made wine that is above par from the regular menu! The wine pairings were awesome! The food to die for! We'll definitely be back! Perfect noise level for conversation as well!
The wine and food were both great. The atmosphere made for a wonderful place to talk and enjoy the food and wine.
We had a great time! I had the pumpkin ravioli and made yummy sounds after each bite. The wine was fantastic and the service was both personal and fast. Plus, the place is quaint and beautiful.
Wine tasting was fun and selection was good. Food and service was a bit slow, but it was early in the evening, so perhaps they just weren't quite ready. I'd ignore it except it was a Saturday evening in December, so they should have been. When the food finally came it was very good. I'd definitely try it again.
As we drank our wine flight, we we're amazed to learn that they make all their own wines. Each one was incredible. The food was phenomenal. The owners/staff were gracious, friendly, attentive, and overall wonderful.
friendly service, great wine, good prices . nice atmosphere .
A hidden gem. The staff are passionate about their wine and their food. Very knowledgable. The quality is outstanding, the atmosphere is on point for a wine and tapas room.
Excellent! My husband and I ordered the flight of red and the flight of whites so we could sample more. The food pairings the staff added for each were unbelievable!!
Great wine and wonderful hospitality! Thanks Cameron!
This would be a great place for all choices for an occasion! The food, service, and ambiance was wonderful. The wine and food paring was fabulous.
Wine was great! Food pairing was overpriced and basic. Probably won’t return for food but definitely the wine.
Service was mediocre. Considering it's a wine bar, I would have expected some knowledgeable staff and suggestions.
Tomato soup was watery; charcuterie plate was okay. Service was very good and wait staff was friendly.
Wine and food were amazing!
Great staff and Happy Hour menu!
