The restaurant was out of three entrées and numerous bar drinks that were all part of the regular menu. The duck confit was extremely dry. The service was good but the food did not match. We are not rushing back.
Starters were great, but main course very disappointing because the Coq au vin was everything but a Coq au vin( I am French and this was not French cuisine): bland flavor and chicken on lots of mashed potatoes.
There was a private party behind a curtain and it was very noisy. The waitress was nice, the wine was good. Pricy for what we got.
Bad food. It seemed bad for all four of us at the time, one of them actually got sick overnight. White flaky fish should never taste that fishy.
Coohills is my favorite restaurant in Denver. Trendy flavor-of-the-week restaurants come and go but Tom and Diane Coohill have stayed the course through thick and thin, delivering some of the best food in Denver since they opened. The restaurant says “excellence” in every aspect, from the service to the cocktail offerings to the wine list and of course, the food! If you haven’t made it to Coohill’s yet, do it soon and you’ll understand!
A French eatery in name only. French origin of "Coohills"??? Coq Au Vin in a spicy, near bar-b-sauce??? I ordered a salmon appetizer/side dish. Came on platter size plate with three separate dollop size suggestions of salmon. Server translated this was the artistic creation of the chef. Then go to art school. While for ought to be well presented, we came for French Cuisine not to visit an art gallery. (See photo). Not worth time or money. False advertising at best!
We have enjoyed our visit to Coohills on many occasions prior to events at the Pepsi center however this experience was subpar. The wait staff was slow acknowledge us initially and when we received our meat and cheese selections we had to ask him to explain what was in front of us and unfortunately he really had no idea. We had to ask for someone to take our drink orders as well as to bring us bread and crackers. Fortunately we were so looking forward to seeing Michelle Obama that the disappointing experience was unable to taint our unbridled enthusiasm for the evening.
Outstanding service and mouth watering dishes. Will definitely be returning to experience more.
Flawless from start to finish. Cocktails were amazing, food was impeccable, service was friendly and prompt. Will definitely be coming back for special occasions.
The chicken liver mousse and Pate were excellent. They don’t give you enough crackers to accompany it unfortunately. Additional crostinis came burnt and at $3 a pop. Not worth it.
Service was polite but very slow.
My date and I enjoyed Coohills for a quick dinner before a show at the DCPA. Service was prompt and efficient, and we were able to make full use of the limited Happy Hour menu. I wouldn't recommend the lamb shank (I should have opted for the pork belly special instead), but overall our food selections were quite good. I was a little surprised to there were TVs at the bar given Coohills' reputation, but the TVs and pregame crowd were never excessively loud or intrusive.
One note: Please be aware that the adjacent public parking garage quadruples their prices during events at the Pepsi Center. After waiting 30 minutes to finally exit the garage, I was disappointed to learn parking would be $24 instead of the $6 marketed rate. Had we known, we would have made other transportation arrangements.
Had a great experience!!! The staff were friendly and welcoming! Would definitely come back!
We go to Coohills prior to Avalanche Hockey games. We got to Coohills by 5:30 and were seated promptly. However, the service this night (a Friday night, with a hockey game and private party) was slow. We did not get out of the restaurant until 7:30 missing most of the first period of the game.
Went on a date with my wife. Did the chefs tasting menu and it was great. Will definitely come back.
The space they used for diners was very crowded. The service was not great. The tartine was overly sweet. The salted cod was cold. The lamb actually was delicious and was the best out of the food we ordered. They need to go back to cooking authentic French food like they used to when they first opened.
Always a wonderful experience! One of my favorite places!
Such a lovely restaurant! The staff including Chef Tom go above and beyond to make you feel like family. I am never disappointed when I stop in for happy hour or dinner.
Food too expensive for what it's worth. We waited 1h30 for a dish and the restaurant was half full...
Came from Michigan to celebrate our anniversary. Could not have asked for a better evening, with Bradley the best bartender in the world! If we lived closer we would make it a regular restaurant stop every season.
Our server did not greet, have knowledge of the menu and disappeared during the dinner. I believe he switched with another team member. I felt undervalued or unappreciated as a guest, and the experience was very disappointing.
We ran around the menu and tried many items, all of which were presented perfectly, timely, and were just delicious. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff, ready to assist and make recommendations. Excellent overall experience.
Great food! The chicken liver pate was perfect. Service was good, super friendly host staff.
The menu was very basic and disappointing. In addition the actual menu was nothing related to the online menu, which was the reason I made the reservation in the first place. My party left. The Vesper cocktail ( the original James Bond martini) was outstanding however.
Great food. Would have given 5 stars, but the Sever acted like she was mad at us from the second we got there. Could not have been less attentive and made us feel uncomfortable to be there.
The food was excellent. Service was very good until it was time to pay the bill. Our waiter disappeared. We waited way too long. Other than that, we loved it and will definitely go back.
Was here for a preconcert dinner and wanted to eat light. My friend & I decided to share the English pea hummus starter & we each ordered the lyonnais salad which was suppose to have bacon and goat cheese. The hummus was really good, but the presentation looked like a child threw some odd shaped pieces of toast on the plate. Then the salads came out. I could smell the garlic before she (the apathetic server) placed them in front of us. I looked at the salad & was, wait, where's the bacon goat cheese? There were 2 tiny pieces of bacon, 1" x 1/4". Goat cheese...maybe a half a teaspoon. One bite & I could keep the vampires away for a year. Sent it back. The next salad was described as having a fried egg...not. plus, my salad was at least a third larger than my friend's. But at least it was edible. Maybe a bad night there. Staff at the bar, especially Adam, was really congenial.
Service is fantastic and the food is amazing. This is our third time here, and we love it.
Amazing food and ambiance - not an over-complicated menu, just simply constructed and delicious fare!
The food was SO good. The service was perfectly balanced between attentive and hovering. Really knowledgable about wine. Wine list was amazing as were the wine suggestions.
I would go here 1x/week if I could.
Really enjoyed the evening at Coohills. From the craft cocktails through the meal, everything was fabulous. Too bad there was a private party on the patio because the evening was perfect for al fresco dining, so we'll be back to try it again!
Coohills was very crowded on the night we went - there was a rehearsal dinner/reception taking over the whole restaurant and part of the bar. It was too hot for patrons to spill outside (too bad - super nice patio!) so it probably just looked extra crowded.
Even so, our food came out promptly, looked like it was prepared with care (and well presented) and the right temperatures!
All servers, especially ours, were very attentive and friendly in spite of the chaos (my perception) and difficulty navigating the crowded space!
Very poor service. Nice people, but disorganized and unprofessional. The focus seems to be on large private events, to the detriment of individual diners.
This was my first time here. it was recommended by my boss. I liked the food and the beer selection. Great location right on the river. I did book a reservation for a birthday but the occasion was never brought up by the hostess or the server which was a little disappointing, but not a huge deal. I will go back and do the Chefs table, I would love to experience that! overall good experience and I will go back.
We had an amazing time at Coohills. Our server went above and beyond. Everything that we ate was so delicious!
It was real disappointing. Food was bad. Service bad.
Small portions for exorbitant cost. Our waiter had to be reminded several times to take our order and never returned to check on what was needed.
All in all, I would not spend the money for this experience.
As usual, this restaurant does not disappoint!! We love coming here because of the ambiance and fantastic food! The wine prices are very reasonable and the views are beautiful! We also have a special place in our heart for this restaurant since we had our wedding reception here. Will be back again soon!
We had a great night at Coohills! Our server was so fun and the food was delicious. We will be back for sure!!
Great service and well executed dishes for all four of us! Excellent value and some nice choices on the well put together wine list.
Had a wonderful time catching up with old friends. Griff was a fantastic waiter. That is always important to me. He was terrific! Will go again for sure! Food was on spot! Loved it!
