Citizen Rail features regional American classics and contemporary riffs. The concept of grilling over a wood-fire resonates deep within the American culture, and our guests have a firsthand view of the show. An impressive wood-fired grill that incorporates the use of native hard and fruitwoods is the anchor of the restaurant space, kitchen, and menu. At its core, Citizen Rail is a restaurant that connects with the soul and fulfills Denver’s desire for restaurants & bars that are genuine, authentic and reflect the true passion of the artisans behind the stoves.

Amazing food and service
We enjoyed brunch and the very friendly, professional staff!
Everything was perfect. Service was great and food was delicious.
Food was cold. No seasoning. Very expensive for the quality.
Excellent food and sitting at the kitchen counter was very entertaining and helped solidify our menu selections.
Our pre-concert dinner was fabulous!
Our service was lacking and the food was too expensive for us to have been treated that way.
Family in town
I wasn't all that impressed with our meal. The service was good and the wine was excellent. Looks like they had some really interesting and delicious cocktails but I didn't have any. Overall I'm not sure I would be back It seemed a little spendy for what we got.
Relaxing atmosphere and delicious food.
Food was not worth the price. Best thing we had was the sourdough with the house made ricotta.
We went out for a date night on Wednesday night. The service was slow, my $65 ribeye was over cooked, the $45 pork chop was so unevenly cooked that my wife didn’t want to finish the dish. By having these prices you expect a little more from a restaurant.
Duck was very salty. They comped a round of drinks to make up for it. Overall great service. Parking in that garage is VERY expensive & they do not validate. I was told they did, but later found out they meant some other garage further away.
My husband’s aunt and uncle came into town and we had an early dinner at Citizen Rail.
Positives- the service was quick, efficient and all who worked there were very friendly and accommodating. I am one of those people who tends to change ingredients up in drinks and food dishes and they didn’t blink an eye at my requests. Food was tasty overall, but for the price point I expected it to impress a bit more.
We had: French fries- good. Could have been slightly more crisp
Smoked salmon and salted beets- delicious although it was a pretty dainty portion compared to the price
Aunt and uncle had ribeye with broccolini and mashed potatoes. They said it was okay- a little in the bland side
Husband and I had the pork chop with banana mole’. Again, good but lacking in flavor.
Ambiance was good as well
Negatives- other than the price point being a little on the high side and the food being a little bland I have no complaints.
Not busy at all, the service was horrible we came for a quick brunch for 4 people and we ended up being 2 hours since the service was so slow will not be coming back.
Beautiful restaurant with great food and service
Food was good overall but Bloody Mary’s were not good and avocado toast was bland. My husband enjoyed Dutch pancake. I will certainly try again.
Camille was an absolute gem of a host, Eric gave great service, and the kitchen staff were extremely kind and accommodating.
Do NOT eat here. My boyfriend and I ate here on our trip to Denver for his 30th birthday, dropped $150 and did not enjoy our meal. Our ribeye wasn’t cooked properly, and the cut of meat was terrible. Save yourself some headache and choose another spot for dinner.
Wonderful time at Citizen Rail. Made reservations for my girlfriends birthday and was greeted with Prosecco and complimentary banana flambé spilt. Excellent wait staff, would recommend
I had their sour dough bread salad and dry-aged beef. It was incredible
Great food - loved the Chilaquilles! Food was running late because of a surge in orders but they comped us appetizers and were very friendly. Wonderful brunch!
We ate outside - that's why it was quiet. The food was inconsistent: The mussels were great, as was the pork belly. The pork chop was okay but the mole, which was a good idea, could have been more interesting. The ricotta dumplings tasted like tissue paper, dry and tasteless. Still, there are possibilities here. The worst part was the we feared our food would never come. Might have been pandemic/understaffing, but they just seemed disorganized. They comped our meal - and were seriously embarrassed - so they cared. I'd go back but maybe not right now.
The food is always great here. Dessert menu needs some work. I wish they had a few more fish choices but always great service and quality food
Get the mussels
Undercooked burger and over priced
Amazing meal, one of best restaurants in Denver
Service was ok, got the steak and it was impressively over cooked and not good. Real disappointment
Decent food. I feel like I could get better food for the same money elsewhere.
This was the best vegetarian meal I’ve had in a while. It was nice to have an entree option I could pair with good sides that wasn’t just a salad! The Citizen Rail really treated me well, the service was great and everyone was helpful. The banana split was anything but typical (in fact, the entire meal was thoughtful and carefully made) and was SO good. I’ll certainly recommend to others and make a point to visit on my future visits.
Food was average and overpriced. Service was good.
Wonderful experience sitting at the bar with Austin and Sarah! They make great drinks, the recommendations were spot on. All together wonderful!
We sat at the counter where we got to interact with the chef and staff and ask questions about everything. They were all
So gracious and nice and watching them do their thing was amazing! We ordered the duck and grilled tuna for our entrees, pork belly and sourdough as apps. They were all outstanding.
Menu choices were excellent.
Great Food. A little pricey but quality was there.
Great! As always
Fourth time here. First time in 1.5 years. Quality of the food declined significantly in that time. Wife’s fish was over cooked and my duck was tough and good, not delicious. In the past every dish of every meal was fantastic.
