Citizen Rail features regional American classics and contemporary riffs. The concept of grilling over a wood-fire resonates deep within the American culture, and our guests have a firsthand view of the show. An impressive wood-fired grill that incorporates the use of native hard and fruitwoods is the anchor of the restaurant space, kitchen, and menu. At its core, Citizen Rail is a restaurant that connects with the soul and fulfills Denver’s desire for restaurants & bars that are genuine, authentic and reflect the true passion of the artisans behind the stoves.

Tonya did an incredible job taking care of us, a huge thank you to her!! Shout out to the great team you guys have, from the hostess to the bartenders everyone was super kind, accommodating and attentive. We will be back soon!!
Mussels had to be sent back, but we ordered chicken as replacement and it was really good. Waiter was fantastic, prompt service.
Decent food for the price. I feel bad because I think they had staffing issues related to Covid. I’d give it another chance…
Food was a little over priced for the quality but the service and ambiance was impeccable
Good food, a little pricey
We went for the New Year’s Eve Prix Fixe menu and the food was divine. Likely a little more pricey than normal but our party of 3 each received an appetizer, a main (with accompaniments), dessert. The staff was very attentive and if we lived here, would definitely try the regular menu.
They initially sat us at a small table for two wedged between larger tables against a wall. Very strange and not at all what we expected for our anniversary. We asked to be moved and they moved to a high top in the bar. Overall the food was delicious after we sent back a steak cooked medium well, but the staff and ambiance was really meh…
This is one of our favorite go-to romantic getaway restaurants, and it never disappoints.
Our waiter was outstanding and the food was uh-mazing!!! I can’t wait to go back to try other things on the menu!
Everything was great!
Horrendous, reserved 5 months ago and invited family for what was a supposed excellent restaurant, absolutely embarrassing, returned steak that was more like a slice of ham, horrible salad and poorly and slow trained staff. Do not recommend this place.
We dined on Christmas Day with our son and his friend. The prix fixe menu had many exciting choices for each of the three courses, including vegan, gluten free options. The vegetarian scotch fig, oysters, and celebration soup were enjoyed by all. The horseradish tomato sauce for the oysters had a heck of a kick. The soup was quite salty but tasty. Entrees included the 48 hr short rib and filet. I will admit that I regretted not ordering the scallops. The short rib was delicious and interesting with homemade kimchi, but really fatty and rich. The scallops looked big, juicy and equally delicious. The desserts were all good.
Citizen Rail had a great Christmas menu with lots of options available and the ambiance was nice. Some of the food was better than others but overall good.
The service we received was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant overall however the heat in our patio tent was extremely overused making it very hot. I had to step out several times during the meal as a result. My husband had the duck soup and his beans were hard. Not fully cooked. I had undercooked cauliflower in my appetizer. My filet was over also over cooked and had no flavor. We were so excited about our reservation and it was a true disappointment. I would recommend eating at the restaurant next door.
We had a fantastic meal at Citizen Rail. We had a group of 6 for a birthday dinner. The server was excellent. He was friendly and very accommodating to our group. The food was delicious! Would highly recommend!
Citizen Rail surpassed our expectations. The food was phenomenal. Superb.
Mo was a great server! Menu for food and cocktails creative and delicious.
Great place and amazing staff! The cocktails are amazing and the food is incredible!
Brunch was delicious; staff very attentive and friendly.
Strong crafted cocktails, great place for a celebratory event, date or friendly dinner.
We got the tomahawk and it was outstanding. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. The broccoli could have been cooked a little more but that was the only issue with our food and it wasnt that big if a deal. Got the banana brulee for desert and it was also outstanding.
Awesome thank you

Our server, Erick, was friendly, informative and patient with our table of four who found decisions hard.
The restaurant got busier as time went on, but that did not bother our table conversation. The menu was interesting and fit both the vegetarian leaning and those that needed traditional fare. With all the meat aging in the glass case, my order of fish might have been the wrong choice. I will return. The location is handy to those who take the train.
Great birthday experience!
Staff is incredible, food is great! Mussels and fries are to die for!
The duck was very good and my husband said the pork chop was good as well! Don’t feel like the food matched the price though!
Staff was wonderful, helpful and accommodating! Food, as always was fantastic along with the drinks. Never have had a subpar experience. Highly recommend
We loved eating at Citizen Rail! We started with a great cocktail at the bar and then continued into the dining room for a fabulous dinner. We were celebrating our anniversary so they brought us a champagne toast and a complimentary dessert! The food was wonderful and the presentation was great! Overall we had a great experience and would definitely recommend it!
Great cocktails. Great service. Food was uneven -- the starters and salads were top notch but the entrees were only so-so. We had the burger (solid but not amazing), the chicken (same), and the swordfish (well-conceived, but the fish itself was a little overcooked and disappointing). Next time I'd go for cocktails and appetizers and probably not spend the $$$ on the entrees.
We went a bit early but the place filled up quickly. We had a great dining experience. From the hostess to the waitstaff, everyone was friendly and attentive. I had an Autumn in Brooklyn cocktail and the swordfish. Both were excellent. The rosemary sourdough app was delicious and just enough. Give this place a try.
I ordered the roasted aged duck and it was very forgettable , meat was not at all seasoned and the meal did not complement each other at all. The flavor profile was overall bland. The drinks were well made and the mussels are the best I ever had. My wife did not enjoy her squash soup Aswell.
For the price, I was shocked how bad the food was for thanksgiving. I had the steak and all I could taste was smoke. Half the carrots were raw and burnt on the outside. My husband’s Turkey dinner was also just a smear of pale on a plate.
Good for Thanksgiving
It was Thanksgiving day and while we were blessed to have these good folks working on this holiday, the food and service was less than desirable. Food brought to us was cold, the vegetarian offering was cauliflower and mostly overcooked, service was poor. On another day, the whole experience might have been much better.
We joined for Thanksgiving and sat in the outdoor tent. The food was good but portions were limited. Between meals, drinks, and tip, we spent over $500 and went straight home to make ourselves more food.
Service was friendly and the courses were well-timed. The outside seating area was warm enough when they kept the heat on.
Delicious as usual - extremely friendly staff!
Friendly staff, great food, in a comfortable atmosphere. What more could you want?! Highly recommended!!
