Citizen Rail features regional American classics and contemporary riffs. The concept of grilling over a wood-fire resonates deep within the American culture, and our guests have a firsthand view of the show. An impressive wood-fired grill that incorporates the use of native hard and fruitwoods is the anchor of the restaurant space, kitchen, and menu. At its core, Citizen Rail is a restaurant that connects with the soul and fulfills Denver’s desire for restaurants & bars that are genuine, authentic and reflect the true passion of the artisans behind the stoves.

We were a party of four going to citizens rail on Mother’s Day. They did call us and tell us it was a Buffay and it was $65 per person.
We accidentally had a $200 Mother’s Day lunch. It was delicious but we didn’t realize that was the only thing they were doing that day. Regardless, it was great and we will return to try the regular menu.
Mother's Day Brunch - Inattentive waiter, very limited, overpriced and mediocre buffet. Prime rib looked gross and other than the shrimp, the seafood portion was not fresh.
$350 for brunch for 4 for Mother’s Day - with only 1 cocktail… ? WTF? Food was just ok - scrambled eggs were bland, chilaquiles were lame, yogurt parfait meh… Won’t be returning. Food was not memorable, but the bill was.
Been looking forward to trying this place for quite a while and finally got an opportunity to go for brunch. Loved the atmosphere and the food and my whiskey cocktail was fantastic. Only issue we had was how long the food took to come out. It was not full by any means and our brunch order took about 30 minutes to come out. Brunch should be much quicker than this.
So disappointed. There are a few servers that are great. The food is mediocre at best. Manager is terrible.
Amazing as always! The beet and goat cheese salad was amazing.. with hazelnuts I think for a little crunch. The Mary’s roasted chicken is a half roasted Mary’s chicken with the crispy potatoes. Don’t miss the banana dessert. Brûléed bananas with vanilla bean ice cream, berry sauce, whipped cream....awesome.
We had a fabulous dinner for our anniversary, the steak and tuna were both cooked to perfection and the pea risotto was outstanding! The drinks and wine were amazing as well and the service was great! Highly recommend dining here
Food was excellent the service was great, and the atmosphere was great. I would recommend this restsurant.
Excellent courses and perfectly cooked ribeye. Cocktails were so fun and the staff and our server had amazing attitudes and energy! Overall fantastic dining experience.
Great place and nice environment. They staff could have more help but it was busy for brunch.
Wonderful food, great drink, convenient location right next to Union Station. We had a great spot by the bar.
We visited citizen rail during denver dining week and absolutely loved it. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic.
Great value for the price, and we got the dry-aged steak option which was delicious! Great wine options too. some of the apps were served in bowls that were hard to use is the only reason why I didn't give it a perfect score.
Overall Citizen Rail was... OK. I think you kinda have to give places the benefit of the doubt during Denver Restaurants week, since they probably have a ton of business paired with a potentially different clientele than is standard, so I can't knock them too much for a less than perfect experience. That being said, food missed the mark a bit.
I ordered the 3 course meal deal with the chowder, sausage, and aged rib eye steak. Chowder was... On the colder side of lukewarm, sausage was not super heavy on flavor, but the steak was pretty good. I was with two other people and it was hit or miss for everyone. I thought our charcuterie board was good, and the artichoke app was good, someone else ordered the chicken main which was really good, but my buddies steak... Man was that thing was really undercooked and really fatty.
It was ordered medium rare, but was on the very rare/black and blue side of the "rare" spectrum, while being super super fatty and... Yea overall pretty substandard steak, I felt a little guilty that I recommended it...
Service was good, drinks were good, atmosphere was good, but will have to go back during normal operating procedures to get a better idea on the food. Restaurant week adjusted rating 8/10, normal times rating 5.5/10.
Outstanding all around. Went to check out restaurant week and had a great experience with food and service. The place was busy and had a great vibe. Tiffany, the manager went above and beyond with hospitality to make sure we had a great lasting impression. Can’t wait to go back and check out the regular menu!
Great service but closes at 10am on a Monday.
Went for a birthday dinner for my friend during restaurant week. Food was well curated and served at a good temperature. While it wasn't "the best meal I have ever had" it was definitely top class. I especially enjoyed the clam chowder. The pork chop was tasty however I have found a trend here with the meats having more fat on them than I would like. I understand that it is essential to the cooking process to render the fat for moisture and flavor still when it isn't rendered off all the way or most of the way it is a chewy part of the meat I like to avoid. Compounded with the ambient lighting (we were in the tent) it made it difficult to cut around it. I know that tent is temporary - could use some more finesse with the disguise of 'I am eating in a tent'. Server was fantastic (can't recall her name) and the bruleed bananas were outstanding. Just the right amount of sweet and crunch! Will always come here when I am in town as it is a sentimental place for myself and my best friend.
We dined during restaurant week and the first two courses were great. The balance of the meal was not. 4 of the 6 people in our party hade mussels and clams that were inedible and the other entrees were simply not good!
tried it out for Restaurant Week, one of the best front of the house and waitstaff i have encountered in Denver.
the food was outstanding
Open Table let us set a reservation for the restaurant week menu for 2:00 on Sunday. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told that the restaurant week menu was only available at 5:00 or later. They comped the cocktails we already ordered but wouldn’t do anything beyond that.
We asked about getting a steak and we’re told no - only the brunch menu. We decided to go somewhere else (STK). Open Table did nothing to get me my points even though it was their mistake in presenting that menu and time. Very disappointed at both Open Table and Citizen Rail.
Brunch food was ok, nothing special. waiter forgot to take our order but was nice about it and gave us free coffee. Wouldn’t rush to go back.
Terrible service. Food came out cold. No refills on drinks. Side of fruit with breakfast was a slice of hard, not even ripe cantaloupe. Will never go back!
Just a glorified hotel restaurant
Great food and service. Cool part of Denver and will meet expectations of any foodie.
I hate rate it should so low. Was there for restaurant week. Appetizer was good. Then there was a Yukon potatoS a heavy appetizer that was amazing. I could not wait for the entree. Unfortunately nothing on the entree plate met my tastes.
Thanks Angela, Brown Butter Oyster Soup was amazing! Loved the Dry Aged Ribeye as well!
Great atmosphere. Server was very helpful and friendly
Good place, outdoor seating. Food was tasty too. Would go again.
Was there for breakfast. Not too many options but good
My favorite steak house, awesome atmosphere and everyone is always so nice and accommodating
The tomahawk ribeye is outstanding.
Food was good but way too expensive
Great staff!!! Super helpful and accommodating to a large party. Thank you!!
Our Server Elliot was perfect! Really made for an enjoyable Saturday morning
Very friendly bar staff with amazing cocktail creations!
Service was very slow. Pork chop was very good. Aged ribeye was definitely not worth the price.
Super tasty brunch... Dutch baby and chilaquiles on point!
