   We had reservations at 5 which turns out to be the starter happy hour! The happy hour menu had a wide variety unlike some places. Excellent food and excellent value! I did think it was rather noisy and even the 20 somethings had trouble hearing across the table. The entrance was rather awkward and difficult it get out of since the door swung inward and blocked the pathway out. Food was great and I’d go there again.

   I have always enjoyed Cattivella. However, the last day of restaurant week was not a good time to go. It was very crowded and although the service was good, the kitchen appeared to be somewhat disorganized and the food suffered as a result. My first course was a polenta and cheese dish. It consisted of 2 tiny cubes. I have never seen such a small serving. My second course was a grilled Caesar salad, which arrived 20 min after the appetizer and which I had to ask about. It was large but not grilled. My main course was the pasticcio which is a wonderful dish normally. However, the bechamel sauce, which is a key ingredient, appeared to be missing. The chocolate budino with almond gelato was delicious but I got that because they ran out of the creme brulee, which is what I had ordered. Overall, Cattivella did not live up to the usual quality and I was disappointed.

   Even swamped for Restaurant Week the food and service were excellent. Enjoyed our meal sitting at the Chef’s counter and had front row seat to the kitchen, it is amazing how hard they work in that small space!

   Cativella never disappoints. Our counter seats provided a front row opportunity to watch the chefs who were hard at work preparing our four course meal at an incredibly fast pace. Observing the camaraderie of the talented chefs and chatting with them a bit was just as much fun as the delicious meal was to eat. We savored the Polenta and Tuscan Chicken Liver Mousse, followed by a flavorful Tomato Mozzarella Bisque and a tasty Grilled Caesar Salad. Next came the Butternut Squash Gnocci and Carbonara. Both were incredible. Dessert was their award winning Tiramisu and a Chocolate Budino Torta with Almond Gelato. We shared a bottle of Sicilian red blend wine that was medium to full bodied and featured as part of celebrating Women’s History month. Dining out should create memories. Good ones. Cativella did that and more!

   Another spectacular meal at Cattivella. As always, the food was amazing - interesting flavors, appealing menu that makes it hard to decide what to order because it all sounds good, served perfectly plated and hot from the kitchen. The service here also stands out as exceptional. We had a remarkable evening where everything was just right. Cattivella remains my favorite restaurant in Denver.

    We loved EVERYTHING except the focaccia. Having lived in Italy we can say for sure the pizza crust that was served was NOT focaccia. Everything else was amazing, and our server, Tim, was exceptional. We will be back!

    Always a go to for good wood-fired Italian food. We had a couple of hiccups recently but promptly rectified. The Salumi pizza with sausage was recommend by our waiter; it was amazing! The staff is attentive and very good about recommendations and pairing wine selections to the dish of your choice. Never a bad experience.

    Cattivella never disappoints. Simple as that. I’m a repeat customer and love to sit at the counter and watch the kitchen in motion. It really gives me a much greater appreciation for the truly magnificent skill and expertise of every single one of the staff in there. And the degree of timing and communication required to keep great food like that coming out fresh and fast all night. Not to be missed!

    My guest and I visited Cattivella for Denver Restaurant Week. The food was excellent but portion size was tiny. Even with a 4-course meal, neither of us were full. Our Server, Ben, was amazing!!

    We dined at Cattivella during Denver Restaurant Week. We felt the portion sizes were extremely small, and not a good value, except for the pasta dish on the kids menu, which was ample but a bit spicy for a 6 year old. We will order off the regular menu next time.

    We are regulars and love this place. We are never disappointed. This last visit however we were super rushed. We got 4 courses in an hour, the appetizer before the drink. They need to slow down just a little:))

    It was restaurant week so maybe they were just totally swamped. Second and third course came out on top of each other, 20 minutes between courses 1-2 and 3-4. Didn’t get asked if we wanted more wine until dessert was on its way.

    Nicely sized portions for Restaurant Week!! But nothing except after dinner coffee was hot. Soup was barely warm, nicely subtley smoky, deliciously rich.

    The absolute best happy hour anywhere! Elise wiggins has put her heart and soul into this restaurant, and it shows! Our family’s favorite go to for a great happy hour with great food and excellent drinks. The staff is friendly, attentive, and professional, and the restaurant is always exceptionally clean and well organized. Love, Cattivella.

    Very busy ValDay crowd, overworked, understaffed personnel. Appetizer consisted of two little shrimp in a pool of room temp butter garlic sauce, with a sauce-soaked stone cold piece of charred bread to accompany it. I know the sauce was butter garlic but the menu description, but I tasted very little of either flavor in the dish, Entree took another 30 minutes to arrive, and during the wait, other wait staff came by cheerfully bringing pre-entree appetizers and even dessert. Entrees finally arrived: two woefully unseared unseasoned scallops, two small shrimp, on a bed of bland, toothsome risotto. Waiter dropped off our desserts half-way through the entree. The check was delivered quickly, but the CC took a long time to return to the table. Very loud atmosphere, harried staff, and very very little atmosphere to accompany the spirit of the day. Very disappointing experience all around.

    Absolutely delicious. We shared 5 different plates - all superb. Great value as well. We sat in the ante room with the 3 huge red chandeliers, it was too bright. But, other than that, fantastic evening.

    The food was fantastic; the server (Tim) was attentive but not intrusive. The only downfall was the noise level. It was a little difficult to hear my dining companion. Then again, maybe that was just my personal age-related problem.
