Catch LA Ratings and Reviews
Went there for my anniversary had an 8pm reservation. Was there a little early figure 7.50pm. Saw multiple groups of two people checking in Around then for 8 and 8:30pm reservations. Fast forward 40 minutes it's now 8:30pm and still have not been seated but countless groups that came after us were. This one couple had an 8:30pm reservation and got seated at around 8:20pm so I have no idea how they decide to seat people. Fast forward another 30 min it's now after 9 and we still have not been seated. Over an hour and 10 min so far waiting while now drinking just to pass time. My significant other is getting more and more upset totally making what should have been a great date night out for our anniversary horrible. Finally we get seated sometime after 9, the seats they bring us to the heater is broken so for the next 20 min yet again my significant other is upset because on top of that wait now she's freezing. We order a decent amount of food for two people figure some sides some appetizers and two entrees. Had a couple of issues with the food I guess reading errors on our part. Like we ordered crispy shrimp and it says under it "spicy mayo" we assumed that it meant with spicy mayo we were mistaken they were soaked in it. We tried it and it wasn't for us. The crispy cauliflower is amazing though. I definitely recommend it. The organic crispy chicken had a super weird sauce on it that was not part of the description on menu not to mention I saw other people getting the same meal without the sauce on top of the chicken so super confused about that. The menu said thyme jus that was not. I had one bite from the chicken and nothing else. The salmon was fantastic! Definitely recommend it to finish we had dessert which was decent. So all in all I ate maybe 4 small bites of everything except the cauliflower and the bread (which was amazing) so most expensive garbage meal I've ever had not to mention coupled with the wait it was just insulting.
PSA only go for the drinks!
We waited almost 45 minutes to be seated at our table. It seemed like we got more attention from the busboys than our server. I understand that their order systems were down but I think the service could have been better. The food was good and the ambiance was nice. It was a surprisingly loud space and the music selection was rather strange.
It's a trendy-flashy scene. Chanel and Gucci bags are the essential accessory! The atmosphere is lively and charged. The menu is quite diverse, with lots of tapa style dishes, fresh sushi and even some healthy vegan options. The service was mediocre, yet understandable and tolerated, due to restaurant being brimful. My one and only complaint is that they don't allow you to bring your own bottle of wine to the accompaniment of dinner, and their wine list is pricey!! Expect to pay$300+ a bottle. I suppose that's the price for dining with the "In crowd" of LA.
We loved our food and our server was very good as well. Unfortunately, we felt like we were rushed out of our table after having spent a ridiculous amount of money on food and drinks. Plates come out quickly and are taken away just as quickly...and they are delicious. Once the dessert plates were cleared, the clearing process began. We paid and left a very nice tip...yet as we were drinking water, there went our water glasses! Gone. I feel like when you spend that amount of money on dinner, it should be a relaxing experience. This started out great but ended on a sour note. We do not plan to return or recommend to friends for this reason.
The 2 girls at the counter were very rude and unaccommodating both on the phone and in person. They did not want to honor our reservations and totally ignored that it was a special occasion for my wife's 40th birthday party. They rolled eyes and attempted to overlook our reservations. The reason they gave was because the whole party didn't arrive at the exact same time. They then tried to put a time limit as to how long we were allowed to sit at the tables we reserved, even though we had not been waited upon yet. Our only request was that we be seated near each other, no excuse since it was first come first serve with reservations and we were literally the very first people to enter when the doors opened. After upsetting my wife to the point of tears they finally allowed us to speak to the manager. Very disappointing to say the least. Especially considering we came from South Orange County to visit this restaurant.
The manager Janean was awsome!! She promptly made sure that my whole party was seated as requested. This took no effort as their were many seats available at that time. She apologized and was very understanding of the circumstances. After all we only wanted to be seated near each other. Had not been for Janean those "Club" girls at the front counter would have ruined our night. The other waiters and bartenders were all great. The food was great also. I suggest that you only employ people in the hospitality business and fire the 2 Brunettes that were at the front counter on Saturday Night Dec 9 at around 5-6 oclock.
After talking to many of our friends who happen to be pretty big names in Hollywood it was confirmed that African Americans tended to be treated more harshly and with less tolerance than their other counter parts. Primarily when it came to dinning reservations. Im sure this is due to the club girls in the front who no nothing about hospitality.
This message is to the Managers in New York and LA
Traveled to LA for my daughters 16th birthday and wanted to go to a trendy restaurant. Our overall experience was good and our server Al was very helpful and courteous and the bartender made some special drinks for the kids underage. The only issue we had is that one of the dinners came 10 minutes after everyone elses so we waited to eat and the food got a little cold. They compensated us that portion which was good but overall the experience and the ambiance of the restaurant was very good. We will definitely come back when we are in LA again.
Made reservations for 10pm but actually got seated an hour and fifteen minutes after. I’m a host as well, so I totally understand why we had to wait, but it was just extra long, however, we met G-Eazy and Robin Thicke outside in the smoking area (crazy fan girl moment) and also saw Toby Maguire. So we’re even.
Catch is a great place trendy, beautiful, good food, good vibe
On this night though I felt very rushed - they dropped the check without me asking for it & kept returning to see if we paid.
It was a table for 2 they were plenty of others available - no one was waiting for ours .
This is not ok
Hostesses (all but 1) were very rude and acted like they could care less about the fact they sat us over an hour and a half after our reservation. Almost like an arrogance that you were in one of the hottest restaurants in LA and they don’t really care if you have a reservation. When asking how much longer, the look of “you are lucky to be here” so we will get to you when we get to you was pretty common. Then they sat 5 at a booth made for 3 people and table made for 4 when adding a chair at the end (which they did for the 5th person in our party). Food was good and service was good. Had a random person come up to our booth petting a stuffed lamb and speaking jiberish to us. She was accompanied by a friend who was hammered and when asked to leave us alone and move on, they became verbally combative. All good but this was witnessed by a server who didn’t really do anything. I’m all about a scene and keeping it fun and interesting when dining out, but from top to bottom they could do a much better job of managing people and their expectations - especially when you drop over $1500 on a Monday night dinner.
I had a good experience overall but i didnt like how we had to wait an hour to be seated when were on time for our reservation. I honestly felt like they overbooked, but they recognized how patient we were they sent over a complimentary dish to our table which was a good gesture. Our server was really nice and very pleasant he kept a positive attidude with being super busy and all
