For parties of 8 or more, we offer a Large Party Prix Fixe menu: a multi-course, family-style experience which features dishes from our seasonal menu, and is the best way to dine at Canon with a larger group. The service was nice, but I'm otherwise incredibly disappointed this is how I spent my birthday. I've never left a restaurant hungry still, and to think I paid $300 for the privilege - over deeply medium food, no less. I am utterly baffled that this place is recommended by any institution, much less the Michelin guide.

As always, everything was stellar with our meal. The food continues to be the best in Sacramento. My favorite is always the whole chicken, but the chicken drumsticks, pickled veggies, brussels sprouts, and hamachi were also all incredible, as was the special butter with the bread. I'd happily eat here any night!

Outstanding as usual. Took my husband’s parents here for dinner. Highlights were the homemade bread, butternut squash, and the swordfish. Everything was so good we had to indulge in dessert too. Service was impeccable and the outdoor patio was surprisingly warm with the heaters on given the weather!

We ate in the patio area which was less crowded and quieter than the inside restaurant. Even though it was a cool night, the patio area was very comfortable due to their fireplace and space heaters. The service and food were excellent. We ordered one platter (swordfish) and four small dishes and that was perfect for four people. This was our first visit to Canon and we will definitely be back.

As usual we really enjoyed our time at Canon. The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. The only complaint I have is the bar drinks were not as expertly prepared as we’ve previously experienced.

Had expectations that Canon would be much better. The service and ambience were good and other than the steak the prices were not out of line. Wife enjoyed her mixed drink but avoided the very high priced mostly non-California single glasses of wine. We are used to the tapas/shared plate process, so that was also not the issue. The problem was the food. The choices of small plates were not exciting that night, so we got the steak. The steak was cooked perfectly but was tough, chewy and loaded with fat on most of the meat. Should have sent it back. It was an effort to get it down which makes you feel cheated at $62. Albacore small plate was completely unmemorable with 5 little pieces of tuna and no flavor. The oysters were laughably small for $4 each. Tots and bread were good, but so what, how could they not be? We skipped the dessert since the rest of the meal had been so uninspiring. They were aware it was our anniversary since the reservation had it and they brought it up multiple times, but didn't do anything special for it. Apparently just used to congratulate you I guess. Wish we'd read more of the reviews BEFORE going to avoid a $220 mistake.

Heard good things about Canon, and it did not disappoint. If you're vegan, graze on the small plates -- so good! Great service, nice interior, not noisy. We'll be back.

In town again to visit our son, and of course we wanted to go to Cannon. Don't pass up the whole smoked chicken - best chicken we ever had. The beets and Brussels sprouts were also very good, but I'd pass on the albacore tataki (none of us were a fan).

The food was fabulous but the service was a little slow. When I ordered dessert and coffee, they didn't serve both together. I had to wait for my coffee which was a little annoying since my wife ate her dessert before my coffee even arrived. Otherwise it was a nice experience.

I really enjoyed the whole experience. The food was delicious, the outdoor patio was fantastic, and the service was great. My husband is a picky eater, and he thought some of the flavor combos were strange, but I thought it was fun, different, and fresh. I only gave four stars to reflect our combined opinions. I would love to dine here again, but I may have to come with someone other than my husband. :)

We ate on the lovely patio. Food was excellent, especially the charred pile beans . Our summer squash was missing the pickled raisins, but also good. Albacore Tataki was sublime!

The Jerusalem Artichoke dish was phenomenal, as was the Chicken Drumsticks. Best chicken I’ve ever had - so tender we pulled it from the bone with a fork. The steak was fantastic and prepared expertly. I’d like to go back and try more of the small plates.

Food was hit or miss. Seems to have a bit of an identity crisis and playing was more on looks than how it would pair for eating. The cocktails were great, we’ll balanced and beautiful. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Overall, overpriced.
