For parties of 8 or more, we offer a Large Party Prix Fixe menu: a multi-course, family-style experience which features dishes from our seasonal menu, and is the best way to dine at Canon with a larger group. It’s nice to see their menu change and new things to try. We like the family style dining where you get to try several different items. The service was really good once we settled in. We loved everything with the exception of the steak. We asked for a medium/medium well and it came out well done. We mentioned it…a bit of a let down to what was a very tasty meal otherwise. I would try Canon again just without ordering a steak.

Food is excellent and uniquely flavored. The focaccia bread was outstanding. Once it fills up, it gets pretty noisy.

We had an amazing experience! The meal started out with 3 small bites - ordering the spicy apricots, tater tots and wonderful focaccia bread. Since this was our first visit to Canon we were anxious to try lots of options. For main course, the four of us chose the pork platter accompanied by the potatoes and then ordered the chicken platter and broccoli selection. Needless to say this proved a lot of food and while we ate most all of it, just one protein would have been sufficient. Then we might have had room to enjoy a dessert. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Incredible culinary experience! Highly recommend the Sassenach cocktail, Pacific Black Cod dish and the Grilled Broccoli. The pistachio dessert was also outstanding. Oysters were a bit small but fresh and delicious. Charming food server Vaiva and wonderful host!

The food was amazing and the portions were perfect for sharing amongst 4 people. The servers were so helpful and we got just the right amount of attention.

This is a lovely place to go for dinner especially for groups as it is served family style. Delicious food and excellent service.

I have always wanted to try this place and I am glad I did. It was worth every penny spent. Food is excellent as well as the service. This place is now addrd to my list of places to dine in Sacramento. It truly deserves to be listed in the michelin guide recommended dining places.

Been here several times and this was the first time we weren’t “wowed”. Had a reservation. Sat outside as requested. Next to a noisy toddler who ran around constantly with alternating adults. Not the fault of the restaurant but it still erected our experience. Our server did not do the usual of asking if we had been there before and helping us to order. We ordered some appetizers and they took over an hour. I think perhaps the server was waiting for us to place our entire order before putting the food into the kitchen, but it would’ve been nice to have known that. Food was amazing! Service was meh

I will start this review out by noting that I and my group were slightly conflicted about our collective experience. We each wanted to love Canon. Never before has Michelin steered us towards a less than stellar experience. Unfortunately, after giving it a night for reflection the morning brings clarity, each of our 4 members shared a 3.5 star meal with underwhelming notes throughout the night. Please note there was no singular failure to point to as ruinous or even unpleasant, but equally significant was the lack of flair or creativity that would set this establishment apart from a well run chain franchise. Our reservation was set for 7:30, with very clear notes in Open Table that there is only an allowance of 15 minutes for diners. While we were a punctual 5 minutes early, we were not able to be seated until almost 8:00. This was fine, but there is very limited space inside, so we waited by standing in the pleasant courtyard area at standing height tables as there was no seating options outside. The seating was nice with a booth that comfortably sat 4 next to the kitchen in the corner of an open dining room. This was great for watching the energetic comings and goings of the staff; however as the evening progressed the volume within the relatively open atmosphere did make waitstaff interactions and even normal conversation slightly challenging. This was highlighted towards the end of our evening as an energetic group of young ladies celebrating a birthday were seated nearby. Next was the menu. We had reviewed the food options shown on Open Table prior to our visit and were excited to try the swordfish among several other delicacies that were described, our printed menus mirrored this. Unfortunately, our server had to inform us that the menus were outdated with Swordfish being replaced by a Cod dish. Food, the Cod was very fish forward and broth oily. The Steak was beautifully cooked, but lacked seasoning, which made the house sauce a needed element.
