Took a group of 7 people. Service was great! Server was friendly along with the manager who came over to check up on our table. Would go there again. The deep fried honey lavender cheesecake was delish too. We also loved their indoor herb garden wall. Thanks for a great evening!
Meal delivery to our took over 40 minutes. Ordered bottomless mimosas but it took forever to get a second glass. Ran out of glasses!?! When food came most were missing a part of the meal. One ordered fish Benedict special - which had no sauce and only one poorly picked egg instead of two eggs and no potatoes only extra side that was ordered. Another meal (pancakes) came with no fruit or cream. Side of bacon came halfway thru meal. Third order was over cooked - burnt toast and hard dry scrambled eggs. It was replaced but our guest got her meal well after everyone else at the table. Overall it was not our best experience at Boca.
Solid Visit. Cool atmosphere. They use a lettuce wall but it wasn't very well maintained/clean. Cocktails were solid but not great. Good old fashioned but not the best(the goes to Craft Street Kitchen). Barrel aged Manhattan with HW double rye was not good. Didn't even taste like the Double Rye which I drink often. Very weak in flavor for being a barrel aged cocktail. Wife's tequila cocktail with blood orange liquor and champagne was very good. Mussels were solid. The tuna entree with black rice was well presented and great flavors. The short rib with spinach pasta was ok. Not bursting with flavor but cooked nice. Fried Cheesecake was really good. Their bread pudding was served cold which was unusual, I even asked the server if that is typical and she said yes. Never had cold bread pudding before. Food was good but $30 entrees left a bit to be desired. We would return for some apps and bar flare but not dinner.
Was in town to tour U Tampa - wanted something unique. I live in the New York metropolitan area so I didn't want the same type of selection I have at home - which is everything!
Didn't want a steakhouse for sure.
Chose it because menu looked interesting, and atypical. Boca did not disappoint.
Enjoyed each dish we ordered, and really enjoyed the unique cocktail I tried. It was called "Hello Beautiful" :)
Our server was well versed with the menu, was able to steer us. Service was very good/attentive.
The atmosphere was very casual, and definitely rustic, which was cool.
This place is worth trying. I think you will be pleased.
We have been to Boca - Tampa location many times in the past. Food is always tasty and interesting. Drinks are normally good as well. At this visit the service was sub par. The server was robotic in their description of specials and extended periods of time were experienced when ordering drinks, etc.
The service is always friendly here and the staff is attentive. The food is rather hit or miss for me. Most of the time the food is good, but sometimes they add their own flair which just does not seem to hit the mark. The best example is the Boca Cubano. It is a Cuban sandwich. The sandwich would be fine except they add an IPA beer mustard which simply adds the wrong flavor and overpowers the other ingredients. But overall, excepting those small changes, the salads are great, the flatbread and soups are also very good.
It is a farm to table restaurant, but I thought the food was not as fresh and interesting as it should have been. The flatbread had a heavy tomato paste taste, the meats were not flavorful and overall it was ok, but not fresh, clean tasting. My husband had a burger and loved it. I think next time my expectations will be adjusted and I will get a beer and a burger. Loved the ambience and the service was great.
Our waiter was very rude from the get go. We waited about 30 minutes just to get our drinks. I had to go up to her and ask her if she can bring the drinks to us. When i asked her about the alcoholic drinks she was very rude, dry, and short with me. While we waited I noticed she was hugging other employees and having side conversations with her other coworkers. She didnt even check on us. The only person that was nice and more attentive to us was the manager. Ive been to Boca before and never had such a bad experience. It was so bad i barely tipped. It was very disappointing.
We have eaten here several times and we always enjoy it. They do always try to sit us at the worst 2 top table by the door next to the patio. As we were the only ones in the restaurant due to our early seating, I don't understand the policy. Also, our 2 Manhattans for $28.00 were only half full. Even the waiter tried to take them back before serving them. I can understand cost pours, but for that much money, you shouldn't appear cheap.
To this location's detriment, I've frequented the Boca in Orlando (Winter Park, FL). The service there has consistently left us with a farm, invited feeling. The food was good - well prepared selections, and decent portions. This location, however, missed the mark, due to their quality of service. Our service was just awkward - our server just seemed like she would rather spend her attention on other things - very inauthentic. Some of the other staff bussing or passing by don't make eye contact or acknowledge you, which is uncharacteristic of Boca staff. Our server did perk up just before the manager came around (and before the bill arrived), which is unfortunate. Since we were there for a special occasion, and had higher expectations, it put a damper on the evening. I do have to say: the manager was very warm, and expressed genuine gratitude for us coming in. I can respect that, and would possibly visit again, because of his concern and professionalism.
Our new favorite restaurant! Love the menu, love the food, and LOVED the service! My spinach salad was inventive and fresh and my husband said they definitely know how to do pork belly. Meatloaf was fantastic and husband had the special - cherry bourbon glazed pork chop that was fabulous! Brussel sprout hash was so good as was the loaded potato croquette. Would have given ambiance 5 stars had we not been seated next to the door to the outdoor dining but will know next time to ask for a different table. Diana was our server and she made made some great suggestions and was spot on with the service and personality! No microwave or freezer for this place - everything was as fresh as it gets. Well done Boca!
First, if you do not have space for your customers to park, they should not have to pay $5 to valet. Second, the music was very loud and the place was not full at all. It was very difficult to have a conversation without shouting. Third, the brunch special was bottomless mimosas and bloody mary's, this would have been fun if our waitress paid attention to us. She was very inattentive and only came by our table once. I was very disappointed in the visit and perhaps others have been as well as the restaurant was pretty empty.
We had a reservation for 8 which turned into 9 for brunch on Sunday morning. The service was a bit slow but we were in no hurry at all and we could tell our server was busy. She was pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu. Never left empty plates or glasses on the table for long. And the manager had come by to help out she was also extremely kind and pleasant. On the weekends they have bottomless mimosas for 15 dollars and they taste great! I was very impressed we will definitely be back
