Cocktails were excellent! Mussels were tiny and not very tasty. Brussel sprouts were mediocre. Overall meh
Great food, new server, owner stopped to thank us for the business great dri nks
We love blackbird! It’s nice to be able to go to one of our favorite places again!
Very disappointing experience. We had a reservation for brunch and were promptly sat down. They informed us that they did not have waffles, avocado or biscuits ... pretty essential for breakfast and brunch. Once they took the order, they informed us that they were struggling in the kitchen and it would take at least 45 minutes for the food to come out (all breakfast items). Two other tables in the proximity had been waiting for 45 minutes and they were offered to comp the food due to wait - and they were still waiting. Of course, all sorts of alarms went off in our minds as the place known for biscuits and waffles had none and they were struggling In the kitchen. We had to walk away and ended without a Fathers Day brunch ...
I will note that the server was very apologetic and polite - we felt bad for her being out in that situation.
Kitchen was understaffed and they were taking a high volume of to go orders. Seems like the fine-in customers were an afterthought. Had to wait over an hour for food to arrive after ordering. They were out of numerous items on the menu, for a Sunday morning brunch. How can you be out of biscuits and waffles...for bunch? They discounted our meal, but it was still far from worth it. If it wasn’t Father’s Day, we would gotten up an left much earlier. Very disappointing. Will not be back.
Excellent service and the food was incredible! I would recommend this restaurant.
It was great! Tables were spread out for social distancing, but because it wasn’t packed...we were able to spread out over two tables. Our server was amazing..she was the bartender too. The food was great. From eggs to pizza. From bottomless mimosas to whiskey drinks and beer! We all really enjoyed it. Thank you all for a great experience!
Brunch is consistently good at Blackbird. My favorite thing wasn't on the menu - but that has been the case in many restaurants lately - we are just glad to be able to dine in again!
I enjoy quieter restuarants so the reopening with limited seating was perfect. The servers were fantastic, the wait time was long due to a pizza kitchen issue. I was comp'd my first drink which was nice. Great food, great staff.
Always a wonderful visit. Brunch selections perfect. Always try to go early or late as it is a bit noisy.
I feel like this place continues to go downhill. Their menu is constantly changing and even a couple of the things they had available on their menu, they weren't adequately stocked up for. They couldn't make a specific sauce for one of their menu items because they were out of cilantro, a key ingredient and the main reason why we ordered that particular item. We didn't know until the food came out either. They're slower than normal, service has gone downhill a bit. Just not really sure what's happening with this place.
Wonderful neighborhood spot! Great beer, wine, and food selection. The French Dip is excellent!!
Everything was very good, except for the fries. They were old tasting.
It made me feel special that our table had our name on it when we were seated. It took until after we were half way thru our appetizers to get our beer and wine that was ordered prior to our food. Food was good. I will most likely return.
Food was quite good. A little loud, but it was Saturday night. The service could be better. Three times our waitress said she would bring more water. But otherwise I would recommend.
The Smoked Salmon Benedict was really not good. There was a small amount of ground up salmon under a poorly poached egg, on a mushy, small English muffin. There was a little sauce of some kind on it, that was hard to define. The breakfast potatoes were cooked well, but were seriously over salted. Unfortunately, my companion ordered the same thing, so I can’t address any other dishes.
I arrived for my restaurant week reservation at 7:30 5 minutes early. They were unprepared for the business it would bring. Hostess was taking names for walk-ins without seating 1st those with reservations. At 7:55 and seemingly no end in sight, I had enough and left.
Love the ambiance. Food was interesting and good but $11 for an ounce of scotch was ridiculous. Came with another couple and we both agreed we’d give it another try. Service was only so so
My lunch group really enjoyed our visit to Blackbird and would definitely go again.
Great place. Great value. Great food. Great service from Sam.
Blackbird is what Denver needs... neighborhood restaurants. I would love to see them expand the itialian food selections, but it's a great fun spot in wash park
We all had the Hamburgers. SOO Very GOOD. Service was somewhat slow and waiter rather gruff, but food and atmosphere made up for it.
Great brunch experience and great service! Loved the Colorado steak and eggs with green Chile and the blackberry pizza!
The group enjoyed their meals and did not feel rushed or not wanted. Our server was very knowledgeable regarding any questions concerning the menu.
We did trivia; fun place to do trivia.
Appeared understaffed: waitress had too many tables, kitchen overwhelmed with large party, wait for dinner was too long, food good,
But Overall, not great.
Great Happy Hour! Mussels, truffle fries, Brussel sprouts, Manhattan was all awesome!
Everything was great but it took a long time for the appetizers and the a long time for our entrees to arrive. Seems like they need more help in the kitchen. Everything was delicious and prepared perfectly.
Great brunch with cozy holiday atmosphere. Service was on point and super friendly.
Service, food and drinks were excellent! The oysters were fresh, the bar knew how to make a great Old Fashioned! The server was perfect!
Great brunch as usual. Thanksgiving weekend so not quite as crowded though noise levels always an issue.
Had my favorite Omelette Pizza with an extra scrambled egg to fill it out. Tiare was our waitress and suggested a side of green chili to go with it. As a dipping sauce was perfect! Not to spicy. And great for my leftovers
Thank you so much for the great review Lauren.
Good food, great atmosphere, friendly service, strong drinks!
Thank you Ellen for the 5 star review. Just awesome.
I really enjoy Blackbird. I have gone there with my family since the my parents moved to Denver. This past Wednesday we went to enjoy a nice dinner before Thanksgiving, and all was great until my boyfriend left his Yeti water bottle there. We called the restaurant no more than an hour later and they said they did not see it. We were some of the few remaining tables in the restaurant so I don't believe that our 6 top was sat at again. It's really unfortunate staff supposedly did not see it and return it to us. It was our fault for leaving it, but working in the hospitality industry, I continuously try to help people out and not take things that aren't mine.
Shannon - I am glad that you enjoy coming in and we are happy to have you. I wanted to clarify something on your review however. Our sever, Mary Kate, ran out to the parking lot and gave your water bottle to your friends who took it home for you and acknowledged it. We certainly do not take things that belong to our guests and hope you got it back. We love Yeti water bottles as well. Must be a Colorado thing. :-)
Normally I really enjoy dining at Blackbird but the service was pretty terrible this time. It took 20 mins to get glass of wine. We were there an hour before receiving our food while tables that arrived after us received theirs first. It would have been better had the server acknowledged it, but she didn’t. The wings are really good. The simple salad is good but definitely overpriced for what it is - “simple” is a very accurate name and not worth ordering.
Thank you Mitch for taking the time to review. We have sent this to our team to use as a training guide and we certainly hope you have better service next time.
Excellent grilled oysters, wine selection, chicken sandwich and service by MaryKay!
Service was slow (10 min to get a cappuccino) although for awhile we were the ONLY people there, we came when they opened on a Sunday. Then, they were out of 2 of the 3 things we wanted to order (shrimp, brownie). The server explained they had been hit hard after this week’s snow storm, but at the very least someone in the kitchen should have informed her before they opened, so she could tell us upfront what was not available. She tried to make it right by taking off 25%, which felt appropriate , but it was still a disappointing breakfast and I will think twice before trying Blackbird again.
This is a very nice neighborhood restaurant. The food we had -- the calamari, the brussells sprouts, and a pizza -- were outstanding, much better than typical bar food. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, and the service was pleasantly friendly. We will definitely go back.
Our waiter was the highlight of the meal but the bartending missed the mark when he made Old Fashioneds with Fireball Whiskey - yuk. I had a gin and tonic and a martini and both glasses were sticky. The food was good, not great, but the restaurant was a good central location for meeting with friends.
