BALEEN - Naples
Incredible food in a beautiful atmosphere
You pay for the location and the ambiance
Great views of the ocean and sunset! High level of service.
Outstanding sunset view!
One of my favorite spots when people are in from out of town!!
Beautiful evening, Baleen is an all round outstanding dinner destination. Carlos was our server and took good care of our table. Grouper, salmon, and shrimp (Prix fix) were tasty, nice portions. Short ribs came up short, but desserts outstanding. Recommend the key lime pie!
Salmon dinner was somewhat raw, as I didn't eat much of it. I was disappointed to say the least.
Baleens is always great!
The service, ambiance and food don't disappoint!
This place is my favorite in Naples. We come back every year and it never lets us down. They started charging for bread this year. Not good!
Someone was smoking a smelly cigar. Vladimir was a good waiter.. The grouper was great but for a main course my husband only got 3 scallops.
Our server Jorge was fabulous. It was loud...we sat outside under the overhang. Hard to hear across the table without yelling.
Beautiful beach setting and delicious food.
Adriano is an amazing server--prompt, polite, professional, always with a smile on his face. He was patient and willing to take many photos of our group---over and above his waiter duties. We will be back and we hope he will again be our waiter.
The outdoor part of the restaurant, very busy. Service was great from our brunch waitress. Food and drinks were great.
1. outdoor ground floor can use some serious power washing. Its frequent walking path is very dark and discolored
2. tables are set too close to each other. So one's conversation is readily audible to others and vice versa
3. valet parking service, slow, appearing to be understaffed
We stop for a meal at Baleen every time we visit Naples. The view from the veranda is one of the nicest in Naples. Unfortunately, in recent years, the quality of the food has deteriorated. My husband's french toast brioche was accompanied by a syrup that seemed to be corn syrup based, not the real maple syrup we would expect. The hollandaise sauce on the egg's benedict was tasteless. The setting is lovely, but the food is mediocre at best. Go for the view.
Great place and beth good food if you can sit outside. Third annual visit with reservations and third time told we had to wait at least 30 extra minutes to get our table outside but that a table was available inside immediately. Possibly a trend so as to try to fill the less desirable indoor dining room? Even if not, why is it so hard to honor a reservation three times in a row? I think we’ve decided that is one too many strikes despite our fondness for the location and good food.
Fantastic location and excellent food and service. The server went above and beyond for my birthday dinner and comped my dessert. Not necessary but it was appreciated and just added to the enjoyment of our evening.
The server, bartender, and ambiance were wonderful. Beautiful seating and friendly staff.
The server even treated us with a delicious desert for our anniversary. My dish (the grouper) was amazing. The bread basket and calamari were also fantastic. Drinks were creative and phenomenal.
However, my husband’s dish (the special, which was cobia was small and the sauce overly sweet and syrupy.
We definitely recommend the restaurant, but recommend sticking with the “regular” items on the menu.
Was really cold on the inside restaurant, so opted for outside. Also, really noisy inside from the bar
Great restaurant in every way especially on beautiful night. Valdameir great waiter, anticipated needs, kind
Artichoke app, tomato salad and beet salad all very good.
$16 martinis skimpy.
Entrees very disappointing - grouper special very spicy and over cooked, lobster Mac & cheese overpowered by excessively Smokey chorizo, grilled tuna cold.
What used to be a fine dining restaurant has morphed into a BBQ place. Go there for the views.
The seared tuna is excellent. I recommend having it prepared med-rare.
Food was VG. Mussel appetizer was great, as well as Tuna Appetizer. Ambiance is the best for spectacular sunsets. Been there many times, and will be back in a few weeks
MARIO is the best !
Always enjoy Baleen. The food was great and the atmosphere can't be beat. Looking forward to returning.
This always a favorite luncheon location for my wife & I. View is perfect and food is great.
Friends visiting from out of town
Great place for sunset watching if you can get an outside table.
The food and service are good too.
Everything was wonderful. Only item: We were expecting a slice of Key Lime Pie For dessert. But were given a key line square ... fat from a slice of pie. We were told a slice of pie is usual unless on the price fix menu. It is a square.
Sat out on the porch enjoying the beautiful beach and blue Gulf water! It was a wonderful afternoon and so was our food. Our service was attentive but not overstated. Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and the salmon special were both outstanding! Perfect way to spend lunch with a dear friend.
Service was poor forgot our bread order. Food was good but not great,
Wonderful ambiance on the patio at sunset. Always great service. Recommend price fixe dinner.
The service was so poor it took away the joy of eating with a beach view
Great view when on outside patio. Food and wine prices are high. Food is delicious. Our waitress was wonderful so service was outstanding.
Great choice for breakfast, outside beachfront dining, yummy pancakes & brioche French toast. Great service & hostess during the breakfast service. Only negative was mandatory $5 valet PLUS tip, so $8+. Valet is free everywhere in Naples...even though you give $5 tip, it's better not being mandatory.
Really lovely evening at Baleen, celebrating our anniversary. Our waiter was brilliant, knew all the dishes and advised us with careful consideration. The meal was excellent in lovely surroundings. The only slight negative was that we arrived slightly early, I prefer that than being late, so we sat at the bar and had a drink. This was ok but couldn’t transfer the tab to the meal, and then had to go to the checkin desk fifteen minutes after our booked time to ask for our table
We made the reservation some days ago. When we arrived we were told that there was no outside seating available. We could wait but they had no idea how long we would have to wait. They put us at a table right at the door going to the patio. Every time the door opened cold air rushed in.
Service was ok but not as good as in the past.
Several weeks ago I made a reservation for Easter dinner for the entire family. I asked the hostess about outside seating for that day and she said no it was first come. That is not satisfactory so I canceled the Easter reservation also.
We’ve eaten at Baleen many times. Last night, however, might be our last. We arrived fifteen minutes prior to our reservation time and were directed to sit at a high top table outside to watch the sunset. The high tops were full. We returned to the hostess just in time to see her rub her nose with the entire length of the palm of her hand — and then not wash her hands! When I asked her if we could be seated early (the bar was full) she looked at me like I had three heads, but did seat us.
The restaurant was full throughout our meal. The hostess walked through the tables every five to ten minutes with a tablet noting where each table was in their meal, I assume. Very distracting.
Our salad/apps showed up very quickly (too quickly - we were barely into our first glass of wine). To make matters worse, our entrees were delivered to our table while we were halfway through our salads. We sent the entrees back — our server assured us that new entrees would be made, although that might delay things a bit. Well, the entrees were delivered on a scalding hot plate right after the salad was cleared.
After our entrees (delicious!!!!) were cleared, our server dropped off our check without asking if we wanted dessert/coffee/etc.
Overall, we felt very very rushed and poorly attended too.
One more gripe — the $5 charge for valet parking (there is no other option) after spending $$ in the restaurant. Very insulting IMHO.
We usually love Baleen but our server had too many tables to give the kind of service we are accustomed to there
Mario and Adriano were a fantastic pair of servers, lots of fun and great knowledge of the food and wines!
