   Dining at Arcana was a rather disappointing experience. After an excellent cocktail the food was disappointing overall, starting from the banal starters to the partly burnt and fully ruined lobster main dish. No match for the Ten Ten down the road, not to mention truly outstanding restaurants such as Black Belly or Black Cat.

   We ADORED Lena and the congenial team who took great care of us...so much so that we came back the next day for brunch. My mouth still waters thinking about those little masa something or others with the chile verde pork chunk magic. I could cover all of my meals in that. Ok...we swooned over it ALL! Can you please set up shop in Pasadena, California?

   Arcana is usually top-notch in terms of quality and creativity. On my last visit I was not quite as impressed, mainly by the "Sugar Steak" on the menu being slightly "off" in texture. They warned me it was a skirt steak but even with the marinade it was too tough and chewy. Also, I'd say that the flavors in everything our table ordered were too "tame" not lively enough. I will definitely return bc Arcana is usually SO good, and hope for the best.

   We ordered from the happy hour menu options and a burger. The simple green salad it was just lettuce with not even a slice of cucumber or garnish. The dressing was vinegar with no oil or very little. My crab hush puppies were just breaded and fried bread crumbs there was no taste of crab. The burger had blue cheese and bacon, neither of which was listed on the menu. In addition, In addition, the meat was ordered for medium rare, but arrived rare. Service was great; the restaurant looks really nice, but , sadly, decor came before great tasting food. (This is becoming a pattern in Boulder).

   Nice dinner on 12/7. Initial service was a bit slow but once waitress came by things were fine (to be clear the place was packed, and the wait wasn't all that long). Food was delicious and a decent value. Waitress was happy to share her recommendations and was well-versed in what was/wasn't gluten free for my date. There was a mixup in my beer order that I did not make an issue of because I had not (I assume) made clear enough that I wanted a draft vs. can. Received the booth that I requested through Open Table. This is not a quiet, romantic spot like Black Cat but still great for a date as long as quiet conversation isn't a priority. Will keep it in my Boulder restaurant rotation along with the Black Cat, Bramble and Hare, Wild Standard, Salt, Blackbelly.

   Our favorite restaurant in Boulder. Inventive dishes. Sugar steak? Marinading in sugar and salt gives a crunchy crust (not sweet). We took our out-of-town friend here. We all loved it.

   Our food was delicious and I would give Arcana 5 stars except that it was so noisy that my husband and I couldn't hear each other without leaning across the table.

   This is the best meal I have had in Colorado! Took my mom here and we both weren't too hungry, but ended up practically licking the plates for every dish. Couldn't recommend enough! We had the mussels, the acorn squash, and the lobster...do not miss any of them!

    Another great dinner experience at Arcana! The Beet with Noosa Yogurt was amazing.
