Pizza was good, especially if you like that style. It is overpriced. Unfortunately, there are no Gluten free options in pizza. Some of the wait staff appeared very attentive, but not our server. Some of the tables are crammed on each other.
First impression is our waiter. He was very attentive and just overall awesome. We ordered the caprese salad. I expected more on the plate for the price, but the mozerella was fantastic. We ordered 2 pizzas for 3 people. It was a lot of food and I was blown away by the taste. I will absolutely come back to this place if I can.
Pizza is great. We sat in the back room. There was a group next to us dining and having a great time. However, the room echoed and made the experience noisy for me. I asked the waitress if we could move. She said no. I did not ask for the manager. He came to our table and said no. I did not feel the love. There are better ways to communicate bad news.
The food is delicious, and has many options for various tastes, including vegetarian. We were seated in the back room, and that was perfect for friends getting together to talk. Our waiter, Grant, was friendly and engaging, and had great suggestions for food and wine.
Fabulous food and awesome waiter
Table was ready, when we arrived, waitress was courteous and helpful. We were on a time constraint due to theatre timing and staff provided our meal with plenty of time to spare. Great experience.
We were both amused and annoyed with our server. Perhaps she had too much Xanax in her system?! No emotion and no interest in interacting with our table. Very disappointing. Drinks were served AFTER food was already served. Salads never appeared until a manager came over to our table to apologize. Oddly, we had never even made a fuss. Thank goodness the pizzas were delicious!
Service was slow. Brought out two of four appetizers. Had to go find waiter for other two. 2 pizzas came out cool. Overall food quality not great. Do not understand why this restaurant is rated so highly. One and done.
Ordered chicken wild mushroom risotto,, not much risotto or mushrooms & chicken undercooked!
Service was a bit slow. Tables on both sides of us came after we were seated and both had food first. Waitress would disappear for long stretches. Grilled Salmon was good but vegetables over seasoned with pepper. RIGATONI BOLOGNESE did not have enough sauce. Barely sauced. Stuffed shells fell apart and had too much sauce. Pizza Georgio was very good but needed more sausage. The large meatball appetizer was okay or very good depending on who you talked to at our table. Not bad price, but expect a bit more for this price. Made reservations through Open Table and noted Birthday as special occasion. Not a mention of Birthday recognition. I might try this place again as it was our first visit to see if it has more to offer. Seemed very busy so I doubt people come here for service. More likely location.
Great place for dinner before a show at DCPA!
Pizza Republica was fantastic! We met friends there for dinner before going to the DCPA to see a play. The food is great! They serve one of the best salads in town, the Beet and Kale salad with candied walnuts, it is amazing! Wonderful and affordable wine list- delicious food—great service! We love the casual atmosphere however we didn’t feel overdressed since we were going to the theater. I highly recommend this restaurant! Very convenient location downtown, Denver.
Great pizzas, salads and drinks prior to DCPA show “Hamilton”. Explained to our great server, Ariana, our party of 4 had a theater time line. No problem and we were out in a timely manner. Thx and will return again.
The food and service was good. The staff was very friendly and I will come back.
The restaurant and decor was pretty nice. The main thing I would have issue with is that the food that had a tomato-base was extremely bland. Seems like they just spooned out some crushed tomatoes from a can. We had two of the tomato-based pizzas and bruschetta. The crust on the pizza was pretty good. Again though, the tomato sauce seemed like it was straight from the can. Bruschetta was extremely bland. Just a piece of French bread with some chopped tomatoes on top. Not a disaster by any means but we will probably not go back with so many other choices around.
Food was great and our server, Jeff, was terrific!
Out first time here and it was very good. We made reservations before seeing a show and the location was perfect. We could park and walk to the restaurant and then walk to the venue to see the show. A show is more enjoyable when you have had a good meal and this did just that. Food was very good and the service was excellent.
This is one of very few options within one block of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. and it is an outstanding choice for pre or post theater dining.
This was my third time here and the food has been excellent every time, but unfortunately not the service. First time the service was outstanding, but the second and third time, was severely lacking. We waited a very long time for our drinks, even though I could see them sitting on the bar ready for quite some time, the waiter forgot my lemon for the water three times, just like the previous visit. The prices are ok, but I honestly would expect better service. Food is excellent so the service does put a damper on things. I tried to signal to our waiter several times when I wanted to order a second glass of wine, but he seemed to be completely in his own world. Once he left our table, it was like he disappeared and it was extremely difficult to locate him. The waiter at the table next to us was superb and he was actually the one who finally brought the lemon wedges. I guess we've been unlucky with our servers since the first visit. I would say - if management is listening - to be a bit more discerning with waiting staff and provide training. Perhaps have a manager oversee the tables, as I don't recall seeing a manager on either occasion that we were there. I'm not sure if we'll return - great pizza but frustrating service.
Great, enjoyed the meal before the theater.
Convenient if you're attending a DCPA show or play. Steps from light rail station.
We're always pleased with the choice to dine at Pizza Republica. Nice staff, delicious food. Would recommend a reservation if you have tickets to the theatre, it fills up even on weekdays.
Have had many excellent experiences at other Pizza Republica locations, however we did not at the downtown location Saturday night 2.24.18. Having dinner prior to symphony event. Customer service was terrible. Took forever to get acknowledged, water, drink orders.
Never received bread we ordered w/our salads and pizza was delivered luke warm. NEVER checked on our table again. Had wanted another round of drinks, but was never given the opportunity.
Really disappointing experience. Will not return. Too many choices for pre/post theater dinner options.
The food and service were great. It can get a little excessively noisy when busy but not to bad. The pizza's are delicious!
The setting is lovely - relaxed elegance. Perfect for a date or evening with friends. We shared the barata and the olive and almonds appetizers. They were both fantastic.
We also had the kale and beet salad and caesar salad, both excellent. I really enjoyed the gluten free margarita pizza. But my husband and one of our friends had the short rib with polenta and found it disappointing compared to the same dish at Humboldt Farm, Fish, and Wine.
Great, attentive waiter. Good food. Very nice ambiance.
The food was great but poor service. Our waiter pretty much ignored us once he took our order. Fortunately another waitress helped us when we needed something and our waiter wouldn’t even look at us.
Great pizza - especially gluten free pizza! The pizza's could have used a bit more cheese though.
Going to theater
Best pizza in Denver.
It was just meh. Pizza choices look good in writing but fail to deliver on taste. One kind of Italian beer, Moretti on tap and mine was totally flat. The asparagus appetizer wasn’t tender but it did have a lovely flavor. The salad was overdressed, I only ate a few bites.
I would go back for the convenience to the Buell, otherwise it wouldn’t be even a thought.
Our waitress was excellent - friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, fun and helpful. The food was served very quickly and was all very good. The room was a little cold, but not too bad. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.
Efficient, friendly and attentive service.
Meal was delicious. Wait staff was generally attentive and noise level was good for a full restaurant. Conveniently located for a night at DCPA.
We had Caesar salads that were way over dressed and bad lettuce((brown). They took charge off menu so that was good. Just felt like food was over done—too much Dressing, too much garlic, etc. our waiter was efficient and I did appreciate them taking off salads. We just wanted a nice experience on Christmas Eve and it was a bit disappointing.
We always eat here when we go to the theater. The servers always ask if we are going to a show and pay attention to timing. The fresh Burrata is out of this world. Very nice wine list.
I came here with six girlfriends last night for my birthday and before a show at 6:30. I asked for a table for six when I arrived at 4:30 and was told no, despite the restaurant being empty. When the six guests showed up, we were told by the host we had to leave because we were a fire hazard at the table they’d seated us at.
In the time we were ordered several rounds of drinks and appetizers which came out quickly and tasted fine, but then when we ordered the pizza it took nearly 40 minutes, so we asked for it to be put in a box. When the host told us a second time we had to leave, we grabbed our pizza to go and ate it standing in the bar area - to which we were told we were not allowed to eat our Pizza Republica pizza out of a Pizza Republica box because it “was bad for their image.”
Given that all of the problems were their fault, it was pretty frustrating that we got blamed for everything. I’m surprised they don’t have more experience serving people who have to make it to a 6:30 show, given that they are the restaurant next door. Will not be back.
Pizza Republica is a fabulous place to enjoy pizza and a little wine before going to productions at the DCPA. The location is just a block or two from the theatre. Pizza Republica has an extensive menu with some usual and unusual items to enhance your pizza. Very good and tasty.
The staff provided great service with just the right touch of attention. Because of traffic in Denver, we arrived late for our reservations. I did call them and they were very accommodating to push our reservation later as needed.
Perfect place to go before heading over to the Buell! Outstanding service and pizzas were exceptional!! Will definitely return.
