Black Powder Tavern
Price: Moderate•Contemporary American•4.5(2,141)Since 1746, the building that houses this tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation; first as a respite for stagecoach travelers expanding westward and later as a covert rendezvous point for George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette, and other leaders of the American revolution. It is believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, a major figure in the Continental Army, master military mind Friedrich Von Steuben, designated the tavern as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. All the while, the tavern continued to provide food, shelter and cheer to the hungry, weary soldiers fighting for their independence. Today, we honor our historic tavern’s tradition with a mission to raise the spirits of our guests. We invite you to experience the small and large plates, craft beers and revolutionary hospitality that is Black Powder Tavern.White Dog Cafe - Wayne

- RRonaldPhiladelphia County •21 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoOutstanding service. We were seated in a booth in the bar. Very quiet and almost had the place to ourselves. The bartender/ waitress was outstanding. She could not do enough to make our stay one for the ages. She was very patient in taking our bar and food order as we were too busy catching up with friends we hadn’t seen in a while. She and the rest of the staff moved in a way you would see a dance team. Everyone preformed there task like an orchestra hitting each note to perfection. When it came time for dessert, she showed us photos of the dessert on her phone to help us decide what we wanted. One couple ordered a dessert and I asked if they had dessert in chocolate. She said no, and I passed and asked for coffee and cappuccino for my wife. She brought our drinks and dessert as well as a dish of chocolate ice cream and four glasses of sparkling wine as well as we we’re celebrating my wife 72nd birthday. Unfortunately I do not remember her name. But you are lucky to have her working for you. She is outstanding and has the type of personality you want in your industry. She is a 5 Plus. Discover Wayne
The Philadelphia suburb of Wayne lies close to the western border of New Jersey. Featured in the 1940 film "The Philadelphia Story," the town was chosen to portray the image of America’s jet-set lifestyle. Visitors to the area can enjoy a variety of authentic Philadelphia fare along Wayne’s Restaurant Row. Here, you can find all the flavors of the mid-Atlantic, including fresh farm-raised Amish chicken and locally grown vegetables. Interested in trying a local favorite? Scrapple is a good place to start. This dish includes cornmeal mixed with pork that's baked in a loaf pan and then pan fried. And, of course, you can’t miss the original Philly cheesesteak, which is a popular option throughout the region.
