Opened in 2005, Nostrana is Chef/Owner Cathy Whims’ love letter to Italy. This is a restaurant built on relationships: with our amazing farmers and purveyors, our dedicated staff, and of course with you, our guest.

We hope to offer something timeless and authentic in a beautiful space, the regional specialties of Italy deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest. We strive to be better every day.

Supporting a good local restaurant during the C-19 restriction challenges is important. There is a 90 minute limit on dining which results in not a great experience.

We have been to Nostrana many times and really enjoy everything. The wait person was helpful but it took us probably 40 minutes to order. Very frustrating to say the least.
We understand the extreme COVID circumstances but it would have been way easier having someone explain food and wine. We’ll wait to return until things get a bit more normal.

Nostrana is back! Our dinner was divine and the staff was not only gracious but extremely careful about health issues so safety was no issue at all. We enjoyed the outdoor tenting and greenery that surrounded it.. The outdoor setting in no way interfered with our comfort or the quality of the food. All dishes were lovely, especially the cappellini with Marcella Hazan tomato/butter sauce, the radiatore. We are still swooning over the butterscotch budino. We will be coming back soon!

Absolutely awesome. Even during Covid. I actually LOVE the ordering system and could totally get behind that as a long term option. The food was wonderful and the patio was charmingly appointed. It was a lovely experience

I always love the food at nostrana and it just wasn’t as good this time. The bread was stall as were the cookies. My pasta was a little over cooked. I get the mama’s butter pasta every time I go so I’ve experienced it before many times.

Great food, good cocktails and excellent service. The competition is tough in Portland though...so many great places with new and exciting dishes/drinks. I think there is some room for some expansion of ideas here.

wonderful evening spent at Nostrana. They took extra care to keep everyone safe during COVID and they have it down to a science. Mobile ordering and table side service yet they still managed to make us feel welcomed. the Negronis helped. Our food was delicious and well prepared. Thanks!

Love the food, but ordering from a phone just ain’t it. Understandable COVID adjustments to keep the community and staff safe, but seemed a little over the top

The CV Tent was well done, as upscale as practicality would allow... food delivered to a side table was OK... I had to tip the guy moving the food from the side table to our table. (that would be me ; )

Food was tasty as always... could have selected a different Rosé Sparkler... probably should have brought my own.

The outdoor dining had a weird smell, it was warm enough but the smell was off putting for sure. The food was just okay, nothing to write home about, the broccoli was definitely over cooked and soggy, the pasta was cooked well but was cold and the ragu was basically sauce less. The best part was the dessert. Came from out of town and was recommended this restaurant from our hotel. The covid protocols were a little intense and having little to no interaction with staff kind of takes away from a dining experience.

The raddicio salad w Cesar dressing was great. Braised pork was flavorless and stuffed pappardelle was mediocre. Service was rather sparse. The whole experience was disappointing unfortunately because we really have had fun there in the past. I wish them the best and will try again when everything is back to normal.

Went there to celebrate out-of-state family member's birthday. We sat outside in an open tent so plenty of fresh air. They have heaters so we were cozy. Love the ordering system, scan the barcode on the table then open the menu on the phone, choose the items then submit. We consolidated the order but it's a great system even when going dutch. Foods were delicious, esp pizzas. Caveat is you can't select the tip amount, it's fixed at 20%...What if you want to tip more? Friendly staff bring out the food and place them on a table set up next to yours, then you can pass the food around, like family style. It's obvious they really gave thoughts to how to adapt to this Covid situation, and glad we found a place where our fam can get together to dine out to enjoy good food & good company, safely.

Perhaps it was a covid thing but I wouldn’t waste my money and or time on this place. Pork chop was served cold and rare, YES RARE. 20 minute dessert wasn’t even cooked. Sorry Nostrana but Ava Genes is far superior.

I love that Nostrana has created an outdoor dining area with heat lamps. But there is so little contact with the servers, and I felt the overall experience was lacking. They put your food on a table near your table, they stand 6 feet away from you, and it just feels rather cold. I look forward to when they reopen at full service. the food was a bit cold. This was expecially noticeable with the pizza. I think that they may need to adjust their temperatures to account for the fact that they are serving outdoors and quite far from the kitchen. Overall I think I will wait until their dining room is open again to eat here. If you are not yet vaccinated, it could be a good option, because it's quite safe.

After receiving my second Covid shot, this was my first dinner out that I was not eating on paper plates at a picnic table. Nice to go back to one of my favorite Italian restaurants even before Covid. The safety measures were in place, you ordered your food via phone and they placed the food on another table next to you. Tables were far apart and many plants and heaters added to the atmosphere you were dining out. The tuna and chickpea starter and the famous radicchio salad are always my favorites. Their tiramisu is a delight.

We were disappointed. The ordering system was not working well. We had to get support from the staff. A simple glass of wine snagged our entire order. The staff was apologetic, but it took us a long time to complete our order for 4 diners. In addition, the food, which we have always loved (pre-covid), was not up to par and definitely not up the the pricing. We won't give up on Nostrana but we will wait for regular dining before we return.

Nostrana's has remained one of our favorite restaurants for the last 15 years! We were a bit hesitant, since it was our first dinner outing during the pandemic, but they were great! We felt very safe, and it was clear that they take the health of their wait staff seriously too. And the food was as amazing as ever. Wonderful!

It was our first real sit-down restaurant in over a year so a great treat to feel safe and have an exciting menu to choose from. When were entered the tent we found the music too loud to have the conversation we'd hoped for. My friend mentioned that to the person showing us to our table and, by God, they accommodated us and turned it down! We had a lovely time, enjoyed the food and liked the Covid changes.
