Nostrana—literally ours—invokes local. Simple food from honest ingredients. Pure, regional, Italian. Opened in 2005, Nostrana is Chef/Owner Cathy Whims’ love letter to Italy. This is a restaurant built on relationships: with our amazing farmers and purveyors, our dedicated staff, and of course with you, our guest.

We hope to offer something timeless and authentic in a beautiful space, the regional specialties of Italy deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest. We strive to be better every day.

We're currently reserving indoor tables and bar seating. When available, outdoor patio reservations may be subject to weather disruptions.

A Service Charge of 22% is applied to all checks at Nostrana, providing a professional and equitable wage for all team members.

From the OpenTable editors: Open since 2005, multi-James Beard Award-nominated chef Cathy Whims’s flagship restaurant still turns out some of the city’s best Italian food. Feast on wood-fired thin-crust pizzas and a 2.5-pound Florentine-style bone-in ribeye, plus seasonal pastas and mains in a lodge-like space with soaring vaulted ceilings and festive hanging lanterns. Toast the meal with a celebratory cocktail—Thrillist dubbed Nostrana “Portland’s capital of the negroni.”

    We were celebrating our 15th anniversary so our expectations were high. We've enjoyed many wonderful dinners at Nostrana over the years. It's the standard by which we judge all other fine dining restaurants. Our anniversary dinner was, no kidding, the best ever. Every course from salad to entree to desert was spot on delicious. Nice portions, not too big not too small. If you do as we did and make a feast of it you won't be disappointed.

    This place always delivers! I haven’t been in awhile, but it is always a treat to come to Nostrana. It is glamorous but in an understated way. Food is always amazing. The appetizers we had were outstanding. Pasta is always lovely as well. Our waiter was so great! Kind, patient, attentive. Drinks and N.A. options were also excellent. Thanks for a lovely night out.

    This was our first time dining at Nostrana. We had tickets to a concert at Revolution Hall that evening and had decided to have a light dinner beforehand, so we made a reservation. We were politely greeted and shown to our table. We found the restaurant to be attractive and upscale, yet it felt comfortable and welcoming. Our server, Ben, was pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout our visit. Our drink and food orders all arrived within a reasonable time. We really enjoyed the radicchio salad -- it's a standout. We're fans of wood-fired pizza, and we were very pleased with the fresh flavors of the mozzarella cheese and the tomato sauce, as well as the delicious pizza crust. All in all, our visit was delightful. We look forward to returning to try other items on the menu.

    Food was great, service was terrible! The main waiter was good but the sommelier and other waiter were in terrible moods and were extremely unpleasant to be around. I’m happy the service was bad so we didn’t have to interact with them much.

    Excellent experience! Service was wonderful, ambiance was relaxing, timing of dishes was spot-on, flavor profile of the dishes was balanced and inventive. Cocktails and wine pairings were excellent. Looking forward to enjoying our time there again soon!

    Ben!!! BEN!! Exceptional service. This was our first visit—just a simple date night—and from the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server, Ben, was knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly attentive. One of the things I love most about dining out is allowing the staff to curate the experience. I often ask for their recommendations from start to finish, trusting their expertise—and once again, this approach did not disappoint. Ben guided us beautifully, and the entire evening was elevated because of it. Pro tip for your next visit: Let the staff curate the experience with you—you might be surprised just how magical it can be.
