We had a great meal last night at Nostrana. It was a bit cold since we were in the open corner. Even with heater....can’t wait to go back though!

We have eaten here pre pandemic and that experience was absolutely amazing . This experience was not as good because it was outside and the menu was a bit disappointing. I am gluten and dairy free and there was only one option for my main course-- it was delicious , I just like more options . That day there was only one choice for a secundo platter-- the other had sold out . When we dinner in --we had at least 4 or 5 choices. My son and his girlfriend remarked that the pizza wasn't quite as good. The radicchio salad was epic however as was the negroni. Over all a great choice for a Pandemic destination Celebration meal

Dinner was fantastic. Super safe with many CoVid protocols. Food was tasty, service was great, and as much ambiance as possible. Great time!

The space felt very safe and the processes used for ordering and serving kept us distanced from our server. There was plenty of air flow in the tent outside to feel safe but it was also plenty warm for a March evening. The food was delicious, although the desserts were not at the same level as the mains.
Once again a delicious meal. We decided to eat family style, so we’re able to partake of several dishes. They were all wonderful. Be sure to try the crab pizza!

We understand that service is different with COVID considerations, but Nostrana was just off. We read about their lack of "table side service" before we went, but the experience was even more lackluster than expected. First issue, when they confirmed the reservation 2 days prior, they provided a menu in the confirmation. Given that they are operating on a limited menu, and you have a limited seating time, it seems like the menu they provide you upon reservation would be the same menu they are serving the evening of your reservation - it isn't. Upon arrival at our table we were provided with a QR code. You're encouraged to order everything you want, all the way from appetizers through dessert when you place your order and pay. Additionally, the app requests the tip up front. We all reviewed the menu (which was not the same as the one provided earlier) and my husband was hoping to order the bone in ribeye, which was not available as the menu was different. They were already sold out of his second choice, so he ordered his third choice. We tipped 20% up front, but would not have given the issues we experienced. We requested our salad and appetizer pizzas to arrive around the same time. They delivered our salad, and gave our pizzas to the wrong table. They then brought the bottle of wine we ordered and left it on the side table. They came back 5 minutes later because they realized it wasn't the correct wine. Not sure how that happened, because everything you order is tied to a QR code, which is tied to a table number, which is sitting on a stand on your table. We all ordered the same main course. When the meal arrived, 2 of our meals were hot enough and one was stone cold. The food was good, but the main meal portion was much smaller than our many past visits. We all left hungry. This was our 5th visit to Nostrana, so we know how good it can be, and it just wasn't this time.
Nostrana is doing a terrific job of COVID protocols while bringing back dining in a tented space with heat lamps.
The pizza was absolutely amazing! That the pasta felt like home 💜 it was truly amazing I highly recommend this place I can see myself becoming a regular.

The staff at Nostrana provided such a well thought out and perfectly executed covid dining experience! This was our first date night in over a year and they made it perfect! The bartender even made me a vodka gimlet by squeezing fresh lime juice since they weren't stocked for this cocktail. No safety concerns whatsoever. They made a great investment to continue to provide their usual delicious cuisine in a new and wonderful outdoor atmosphere! Thanks all!
I usually enjoy Nostrana for pasta, pizza and salads. The radicchio salad was great, as always, but the trout I ordered this time was dry and overcooked and the garbonzo dish on the side was just "meh." Not worth $28. Next time I'll stick to reliable standbys.
Our dinner in the tent was a bit nippy, but the food was delicious, the service excellent snd the Covid precautions impressive.
We were disappointed. This is one of our favorite restaurants; our previous experiences have been consistently five star. The salads, appetizers and dessert were up to their usual standards but the entrées were not that good. I had a ribeye steak which was thin with a sauce that was mediocre. The system they had for operating during Covid seemed excessively cautious. With no paper menus, we had to figure out on our own how to use the QR codes to peruse the menu and make our selections. It was very cumbersome. And the fact that the waitresses would not put our food on our table but put it on a table next to us for us to retrieve also seemed excessive. The staff was very nice and accommodating but the whole experience was very distracting. We will definitely go back but not until their operation and menu selections are something close to normal.
They have done an amazing job of making a dining experience feel safe during the pandemic. From the drink small upon arrival to the side service table everything was wonderful.

When our food arrived, none of it was very hot. I’m sure traveling from the kitchen to the parking lot is part of that. But cold pizza isn’t appealing and Luke warm pasta is just ok. We won’t come back till we can sit inside.

Nostrana is more than just a culinary experience, it's a place for the soul. The staff is always incredibly warm and personable and the food is consistently top notch. The inside is cozy and harmonious.
More than a restaurant, Nostrana is a food mecca. If you like a superb, Pacific Northwestern interpretation of authentic Italian cuisine, then you have found a rare gem.
The food is made with mostly local/regional produce and, while every dish on the menu traces its roots back to the authentic Italian equivalent, there is always some playfulness and an original touch (whether it's the presentation or the use of an unexpected ingredient) in the way the food is prepared that makes it always delightful to the palate and a true taste discovery journey.
Since the start of COVID and the restrictions placed on restaurants, Nostrana has continually knocked it out of the park with outside dining, exceptional take out and take and bake meals for two people. Our most recent experience was with the outside dining where we were socially distant from other diners, warm and cozy in the large well ventilated tend and served fantastic food from the online menu. (You order and pay for the food, it's brought to you and placed on a table next to yours and you serve yourself.) All in all, the meal was perfect, the atmosphere wonderful and the experience cemented our plan to return soon.
Nice complimentary dessert for birthday guest. Awkward wait for our table- previous diners lingering exceptionally long which made our wait well past our reservation time. Apparently they were not able to accommodate us at a different table location. They ultimately set up a table outside the tent for the diners who were still conversing and then we just had to wait for the staff to clean the table for us.
This is my fav restaurant, but that night wasn't one of my favorites there. Just didn't have options that appealed to me.

The outdoor dining set up for Covid safety is actually quite beautiful. The tent is pretty and the floor looks tiled. Nice heaters and good ventilation. The food was as excellent as always from the Negronis to start, the radicchio salad and then the fungi and arugula pizza. Of course we ended with the butterscotch buddino. The staff was wonderful. We love Nostrana and the new Covid protocols took nothing away from the dining experience.
Very consistent in all regards.

I love love this place. Best salad (the Nostrana) best pizza, best fresh pasta. And gawd, the hot crisp!! It isn't free though, so save up your pennies before you come...

We LOVED our dining experience here!!! The ambiance was great in the outdoor tent with string lights (especially for COVID times...), the food was incredible, and the mulled wine was perfect. We will absolutely be back!
Nostrana is our favorite restaurant in Portland, with reliable, high-quality Italian staples. They did the best job we've seen so far of creating a covid-safe dining experience in the tent in their parking lot.
I've been here once before and am very impressed by the food! Everything was delicious. I was even more impressed at the level of safety in regards to COVID-19 changes. They took steps to limit waiter interactions at the table by having us order and pay online and would bring dishes to a nearby table which we could grab from. I was very impressed. We were seated outside though and it was pretty cold and there weren't any heaters; that was the only negative for the evening. Would absolutely recommend it, just bring a jacket!
