- MmatthewvipVirginia •24 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoMerrimans is still the best food on the island. We eat there about every 6 months. There is no substitute for expert farm-to-table food. The seafood as well as the steak or lamb is as good as it gets and now that they are back to an ala carte menu…even better. Some folks want more choices but I think there is something there for everyone. The price is up there but not really when you consider the quality of the servers and the food. As usual, when going to Merrimans, dress as though you will be in Ireland…prepared for warm to cold at anytime. In the evening they keep the windows open and the cool breeze at elevation feels great in room center but chilly on the edges.More infoMerriman's – Waimea – Big IslandPrice: Expensive• Hawaii Regional Cuisine• Kamuela•4.9
- LLynnvipSeattle / Eastern Washington •35 reviews5.0Dined 7 days agoFORC, or Farm, Ocean, Ranch, Cook. was a delightful find last night for dinner. They opened in 2021, a tough time to start a farm to table restaurant. We started with Goat tacos with goat cheese, and a bartender's special of a Dragonfruit Margarita, upgraded with smoky Mezcal. Both were superb. Next up the house salad with pineapple brown butter dressing, also excellent. Their baked fresh daily Portuguese bread was warm and tender and perfect for scooping any leftover sauce on our Mac crusted lamb chops and a wonderfully smoky and tasty pork loin. Ended with a caramel Mac nut tart with a scoop of vanilla. All in all a great meal, good value, nice folks, bit noisy, but is popular with the locals who clearly enjoy being there. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the Big Island.More infoFORCPrice: Very Expensive• Farm-to-table• Kamuela•4.5
- RRaymondvipHawaii •19 reviews5.0Dined on Sep 2, 2024Last breakfast before checking out and going home.... Went for it and had the Classic Eggs Benedict (comes with salad!). The best part was the service and friendliness of the waitstaff who already know me by sight. I had breakfast and dinner just about everyday during my 4-day stay. Wonderful service and great choices on menu.More infoWSW The Steakhouse | Breakfast, Sunday Brunch & DinnerPrice: Expensive• Steakhouse• Hilo•4.4

Discover Hilo
Warm weather, stunning views, and friendly locals make Hilo one of Hawaii's must-visit destinations. But what many don't know is that a fantastic collection of restaurants also populates the area. Noteworthy Hawaiian dishes can be found in abundance in Hilo, as can solid Japanese and American fare. Hilo's best offerings are perhaps all-you-can-eat buffets, which are featured around the area and bring together an array of international options and fusion cuisines. You can't go wrong with authentic Hawaiian food, though, with dishes like poke and luau stew on the menu. And if you have room for dessert, Hilo's strawberry mochi is sure to leave a positive impression.
