Wonderful flavors and great presentation in a farm to table setting.
Dinner was great. Service was a little surly. Wine list was excellent.
absolutely brilliant, a delicious feast. You can easily spend $100/per-person in a blink-of-an-eye.
Food was absolutely delicious and well thought out with ingredients. Service was wonderful and cocktails well crafted.
This was the first time I have been to Mercantile and I really enjoyed the experience. The food was good, the wait staff was attentive, and the prices were reasonable.
I am sorry to submit such a poor review, but this is what actually happened: The night before our reservation, we stopped by and just wanted to have a glass of wine outside on their patio sofas. Which were unoccupied. The hostess informed us there was 35 - 45 minute wait (which we assumed were for dining tables, not patio sofas). We live next door to The Mercantile and come here all the time for breakfast, lunch, and the occasional dinner. In the past, we have gotten a glass of wine at the bar and gone outside to sit on the sofas. totally chill. so on this evening, we thought we could do the same. My friend and I sat on the sofas and our husbands went to the bar to order our drinks. The hostess came out and VERY rudely kicked us off of the sofas, saying there is a waiting list for these as well. So, we went back inside and STOOD at the bar drinking our wine. We were there about an hour and in that entire time, NO ONE occupied those sofas. My blood was boiling. To be treated like second class citizens by a rude young woman is unacceptable. She saw us standing at the bar and knew those sofas were unoccupied. If she were my employee, she would be fired for treating my client in such an ill mannered way. We promptly went home and cancelled our reservation for August 19, and had a fabulous dinner at another new restaurant in the neighborhood, Avelina. I know Alex Seidel would be appalled at the way we were treated--all of their staff has always been superb so this was a real shock. With all the new restaurants opening in our neighborhood, I doubt we will return to the Mercantile for dinner.
Risotto was Amazing! Love the appetizers to share with people.
We had the most wonderful dinner at The Mercantile for my birthday. They had a birthday card and served all of us a glass of sparkling wine. The service was some of the best we have had and the food was exceptional. The Arctic Char if they have it on the menu is a "must have". I am so glad we decided to come for this very special occasion. One of the best restaurants in Denver!
Very good service, highly attentive staff. Great food and of course great atmosphere.
My wife flew from Houston to Denver to celebrate our 10 wedding anniversary and we decided to eat at M & P while we were there. We actually went back the very next night and the next morning for breakfast. The staff was great and the food was fantastic. If you go don't leave without getting the risotto.
Excellent food and service. Just a bit noisy to have conversation with friends.
This was the loudest restaurant I have ever been in, no atmosphere whatsoever for a very large price. The entree we got was more like an appetizer, was undercooked and actually made me sick later in the evening. Very poor. We will not return.
It was a birthday
I can not say enough good things about Mercantile! Everything in our meal was perfect! We shared a Market Provision Platter and a ricotta gnudi. Both were amazing. The entrees were wonderful but the key lime dessert topped off a perfect evening.
The bar makes delicious cocktails and Patrick, the sommelier, picked perfect wine pairings for each dish.
This is my favorite restaurant in Denver. The food is always delicious, the drinks are fabulous and the staff makes you want to return again and again.
Everything was outstanding here! My husband and I dined here for our anniversary last night. We were greeted with a hand signed card and a complimentary glass of bubbly. The food was extremely fresh and well prepared. A true farm to table restaurant with the food locally sourced. The tomato salad and octopus appetizers were delicious as was the duck entrees and the pistachio olive oil cake for dessert.
Perfect blend of great food expertly prepared and presented by a knowledgeable and caring service staff. Each dish is something special and delights the palette.
Unfortunately, Mercantile did not live up to our expectation.
Restaurant was VERY noisy with no ambiance.
Our appetizers were good but the main courses were average at best.
Very good, tasty, creative food. Very nice service, and great variety of food choices with nice and accurate descriptions of portions and preparations. Nice wine list, by glass or bottle, very nice desserts and excellent coffee as well! Nice location in the station, and huge windows for great light. SOme outside seating.
This was a return visit for a birthday celebration. As good as Mercantile was the first time - that's how bad it was the second time. We were extremely let down and disappointed. Not sure if I would be willing to give them another try! It's a very comfortable restaurant, but of what good if the food is bad???
Great experience. The chef and kitchen clearly have it together. Food was excellent and courses were delivered with perfect timing - no long delays. Wait staff was incredible - very professional. There is a skill to attending to the customer efficiently without hovering. This staff has it working perfectly. This was our first time @ Merchantile. We will be back.
The green pozole was delicious and surprisingly rich in flavor. The lobster tortellini was by far my favorite but the rigatoni was also tasty. If you want it was a meal though definitely double it. The pork chop was perfectly cooked as well as the vegetables but the sauce was a bit too salty. Service was fantastic. Our food and drinks were delivered timely. The server was knowledgeable, nice, cleared our dishes promptly after we were finished and kept our table very clean.
Excellent!! Staff even gave us all a free drink at the beginning of the meal and cookies at the end. Really lovely. Waitstaff was outstanding.
Interesting apps, try the octopus. Definitely different and delicious. Not a place for quiet conversation or business discussions. Probably the noisiest restaurant in town.
Visiting Denver from New Orleans and had dinner at Mercantile with local friends. The whole train station concept is very cool. Loved the restaurant design. Very friendly server. Average food. Noise level was kind of high. Wine list was very unusual and disappointing. Overall a good experience but not great.
Terrific birthday dinner at Mercantile. Everything was delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. Wonderful service as well. Highly recommend - a new favorite!
Lauren (our server) was knowledgeable and accommodating. She had great recommendations. The only thing I would prepare patrons for is that plates are small for the price tag. Very delicious and totally worth it, however!
All the food was beautifully presented. Excessive use of salt.... criminal use of SALT...perhaps the saltiest food I have ever had in Colorado. Wife and I had to drink 5 glasses of water when we got home.
My wife and I went here for our anniversary. Service staff watches every table so diners never have to wait for anything. Very fluid. The cocktails are perfection. We met the Beverage Director, who granted us a personal favor regarding our favorite drink of all time. This wasn't our first experience at The Merc and definately will not be our last.
The food is absolutely fantastic. The service is attentive and very professional but a bit impersonal. The cocktail menu is really fun and the sommelier was excellent.
Outstanding restaurant and a great addition to downtown/Union Staion dining. Wait staff was knowledgable, friendly and went out of their way to make the evening enjoyable. The food was excellent. Highly recommended.
The chef's tasting menu was exquisite and the view into the kitchen from the chef's table allowed us to see how fresh the food was and how hard working the staff are. Amazing!!
Food, service & design were excellent.
NOISE LEVEL WILL MAKE US THINK TWICE ABOUT GOING BACK.
Beautiful setting surpassed by a vast selection of superb plates in all sizes. Excellent service by Evan & the manager Angie gave us her utmost personal attention. A favorite in Boulder !
Service and food was great, however the restaurant was incredibly loud and hard to carry a conversation across the table.
great food. great service. good for special occasions. only complaint: too loud
but that;s true everywhere these days.
I thought Mercantile would be the poor man's kissing cousin to Fruition, but it wasn't! It was top notch, although a different vibe to it. The wait staff was very accommodating when we found something in a wine glass. She did an excellent job of explaining the food choices. She recommended a desert that looked very different than what I thought it would look like, and it was delicious (pistachio cake)! Being in Union Station adds a vibrancy and rush of people to the place, and I really liked the little mercantile shop-great jams, cheeses and meats. Overall, great spot.
Classy, yet down to earth goodness. Each plate is plated to perfection, the flavor profile of each dish is out of this world. Me and my family could not stop taking pictures and praising the food, the service, the ambiance, the surroundings, the location, everything. A multi course meal for 7 ended up being less than three-hundred, including tip. Amazing!!
We had been anxious to try Mercantile since Fruition is one of our all time favs! We were very disappointed. Our waitress had zero personality and I'm convinced didn't know how to smile. Our starter was great, Octopus, however very very small. Wine and dinner were average. My duck was very rare, had to send back. Didn't stay for desert as we had enough with this experience. If you go I wish you better service as for us this is key to great dining!
We loved the evening, as on other occasions, the food and service were superb, but the ability to visit was frustrating for 5 of us!
