We are not a ‘fancy pants’ establishment. Not in the least. We offer good quality, home-cooked, locally sourced (where possible) food. 90% of our menu is made on the premises. Certainly not ‘Pub Grub’ but not ‘Gastro Pub’ either. It’s good value for money. However, our standards are high, very high. Not only in the quality of the food that comes into and leaves the kitchen but also in the presentation, the delivery to the table and overall customer service. We’re definitely not ‘Silver Service’ either but all of our staff are attentive, smartly dressed and will always go that extra mile wherever they can. These are just some of the reasons we were awarded the Taste of the West GOLD award in 2019.
We are a dog friendly establishment, very dog friendly. However, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can place you in our Bar area , as opposed to our Restaurant.

Excellent, we decided to go with nibbles rather than starters which proved to be a decision well made, flavours in all four dishes were excellent. Our mains were outstanding, we chose wild halibut loin and tasting of iberico pork, both fantastic, full of flavour and really good portions, not sure how my partner also managed a portion of triple cooked chips, amazed we actually managed a dessert but rude not to! The dedication put into all the dishes is outstanding and service is always with a smile, this was a returning visit and we’ll definitely be going back

My two daughters booked this for us all for Mother’s Day…..I had been before but they hadn’t. On arrival they both said what a great setting it was and how nice the staff were…..then the food came out! They were amazed at the content, presentation and the level of service we received. The food was awesome. The breakfast cocktail was also amazing! We were even able to sit outside for our coffee as the weather was very kind to us and we enjoyed the fabulous view. We will all definitely be back soon, thank you.

I can’t really fault anything with our visit. The only minor minor complaint was that our empty plates sat uncollected for a while but this was only because the two servers - who were both wonderful - were maxed with plenty other tables. I’ll definitely be back.

To the rear of the building in our historic Cobbled Garden you will find our own brewery housed in the stables which were used for the horses and stage coaches as they passed through the village. From Ales to YPA’s, to Blonde beers we are a small producer using primary English hops brewing exclusively in house for The Hop Vine and our sister pub the Legh Arms.

Our countryside sister the Legh Arms is our latest addition to the family and is situated in the pretty hamlet of Mere Brow. Here we serve our trademark delicious home produced quality food and excellent home brewed ales. Just returned home from The white Horse me and my partner went there today to celebrate her 60th , The food was delicious, and fantastically presented good sized portions, the staff were amazing, we both loved it there and will be returning plus the little extra message and the Happy Birthday dessert was completely unexpected but was greatly appreciated thank you

The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room
