We are not a ‘fancy pants’ establishment. Not in the least. We offer good quality, home-cooked, locally sourced (where possible) food. 90% of our menu is made on the premises. Certainly not ‘Pub Grub’ but not ‘Gastro Pub’ either. It’s good value for money. However, our standards are high, very high. Not only in the quality of the food that comes into and leaves the kitchen but also in the presentation, the delivery to the table and overall customer service. We’re definitely not ‘Silver Service’ either but all of our staff are attentive, smartly dressed and will always go that extra mile wherever they can. These are just some of the reasons we were awarded the Taste of the West GOLD award in 2019.
We are a dog friendly establishment, very dog friendly. However, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can place you in our Bar area , as opposed to our Restaurant.

Excellent, we decided to go with nibbles rather than starters which proved to be a decision well made, flavours in all four dishes were excellent. Our mains were outstanding, we chose wild halibut loin and tasting of iberico pork, both fantastic, full of flavour and really good portions, not sure how my partner also managed a portion of triple cooked chips, amazed we actually managed a dessert but rude not to! The dedication put into all the dishes is outstanding and service is always with a smile, this was a returning visit and we’ll definitely be going back

My two daughters booked this for us all for Mother’s Day…..I had been before but they hadn’t. On arrival they both said what a great setting it was and how nice the staff were…..then the food came out! They were amazed at the content, presentation and the level of service we received. The food was awesome. The breakfast cocktail was also amazing! We were even able to sit outside for our coffee as the weather was very kind to us and we enjoyed the fabulous view. We will all definitely be back soon, thank you.

The Hop Vine formerly the ‘Royal Hotel’ was built in 1874 and was the main stopping off point for goods being transported to and from the old Turnpike road the A59. The Royal as it was known has served the community and travellers alike. The cocktails were absolutely amazing, I can also recommend the Tuna starter as it was just fantastic. Same with the fish and chips. The tables are arranged very closely where we sat, so there was a little bit of bumping into one another. Overall it was great, I can absolutely recommend it!

Excellent food at reasonable prices. I had the sesame crusted tofu with katsu curry, coriander rice, pickled slaw and tempura tenderstem broccoli. It was absolutely delicious. My husband had the venison burger with bacon, brie, and sweet potato fries and said that was outstanding too. We took our dog with us and were able to buy 2 sausages in a dish for him for £4! Outstanding food, great service and good atmosphere. We really wanted to try the desserts as they sounded delicious but we were too full to indulge! Thank you very much, we will definitely be back.

Just returned home from The white Horse me and my partner went there today to celebrate her 60th , The food was delicious, and fantastically presented good sized portions, the staff were amazing, we both loved it there and will be returning plus the little extra message and the Happy Birthday dessert was completely unexpected but was greatly appreciated thank you

It was clear staff wanted to go home. I get it my son is a chef we are well aware of the hours worked but even so. I know our booking was late in the evening but that’s the time we needed , it was offered - be prepared that you might have to work a little later. Overall we wouldn’t let it stop us goings again , we’d hope for a different experience. That said our guests that were with us were very happy with my choice of restaurant.
