The only drawback in a wonderful lunchtime with friends was the VERY annoying fly (flies) that kept bothering us during the entire meal. Other than that--great time!

The building was a grocery from its inception in 1820 all the way until 1973, and was also a tavern, boarding house, and restaurant along the way. Ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, with much of our produce grown on our own farm during the spring, summer, and fall. We even have our own flock of laying hens and use as many of our own eggs as possible! Saturday and Sunday brunch is a must with both classic brunch dishes as well as creative re-interpretations, and, of course, the perfect bloody mary. Our bar focuses on creative craft and classic cocktails, as well as wine, serving the best examples of many varieties with a large selection of wines offered by the glass. We have a very nice selection of beer, both on tap and in bottle, that even the most discerning will love.

I had a great birthday dinner at The Hard Shell! The atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and comfortable. I got the Simply Prepared Shrimp with Roasted Potatoes and Broccoli. It was delicious! I even loved that they gave a free dessert for my birthday! I picked the crème brûlée, which was delicious as well!
Located in Midlothian, The Hard Shell Restaurant is known to locals as one of the best seafood restaurants in town. With a new fresh look; The Hard Shell features sleek booths, lots of light and a vibrant city feel. The Hard Shell has Richmond's widest variety of fresh and local seafood. Le Yaca began in a tiny, country village(Courchevel)in the French Alps in 1964.Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided that it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans they told the hopeful restaurateurs that they were crazy to think that people would drive 8 kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for 3 months and then decided: “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “ il n’y a qu’a le faire” which basically means “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag. But the name caught on with customers, who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms ” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States & opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge; and to top it all off “Alain D

Farewell to one of the Beach's finest. Wife and I participated in their final night before their 17 July closing. Bittersweet but up to their extremely high standards. Exceptional in all respects. Our server Janelle outdid herself and we expect to see her soon in another top-notch Beach establishment. Hats off to the Chef for his special selections. We have chosen both the Williamsburg and Beach Le Yacas for many of our special occasions and have never been disappointed. Thank goodness that the Williamsburg site remains. Best of luck to the owners on their move to FL.
