Thank you for making the night spectacular. Great big steaks and you will probably need to get a to go box. Such great food
I have been going to Lawry's for years and it never disappoints! Good food and great service.
Very COVID conscious and very attentive for a birthday!
They bring you a pre-chilled salad for which is very thoughtful. I'd pass on the spun salad for split pea or lobster bisque next time. Main Event: Ordered the Prime Rib Traditional Cut with bone in by request. The cut is very generous, said to be 10 oz but it looked like a 14oz, The steak was expertly done pink, satisfying and enjoyable at every bite I didn't need to add spices. Though I'd order the Petit cut next time, as it was even too much for me or just split the cut with your partner as it will be enough. I loved that you get a dinner with salad, one side and Yorkshire bread included for one price. That's how restaurants use to be. Note: Horse radish will definitely has a surprising amount of zing!
Absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is of that old traditional fancy restaurant. The service is incredible and the food is fantastic. The dessert is to die for and they wine and port or some of the best.
Everything was good, but one of the stuff claim there no other choice of dessert. By the time we leaving. We see other stuff bring out like 5 different type of dessert offerings other table of guests. So we don’t understand why will our server only offer 3 kinds and end up only 2 kinds.
It was our Wedding site and my Husband's "Beef Bowl" memory. We come several time a year. We loved dinning alfresco until able to dine in!.
This was the biggest disappointment I have ever had. I loved Lawry’s and looked forward to dinners there. The restaurant was fully open, but the pandemic took its toll. The restaurant no longer exudes the wonderful ambiance you used to have. The bar was closed and the room where you could get meatballs and other appetizers was filled with kitchen equipment. The salad was skimpy and lacked dressing. The prime rib had no taste and didn’t taste like the old prime rib I remembered. The waitresses outfits looked old and shabby. Sorry to say I won’t be going back for sometime.
Service was off..waited about an hour for our salad ..a very long night.. food was not prepared as requested ..very disappointing
Lawry’s have a our special occasion restaurant. Although we ordered takeout during quarantine it was not the full experience. The food was excellent and the service superb!
Had dinner here on Father’s Day Sunday 2021. Reservations at 4:30. Service was nice. The family seated next to us brought their DOG. Not sure what that was about? No one in the family looked to be physically challenged and dog was not wearing a dog service vest. I don’t like pets inside restaurants. Prime rib was good. I like mine medium but waiter recommended it medium rare. I shouldn’t have listened bc it was too raw for me. Salad was awful. It only comes with one choice of dressing, what seemed like thousand island. It was awful. They forgot to bring us steak knives so we only had butter knives…. Wouldn’t return. Don’t recommend. I understand if you have never been and want to visit once. There’s tons of better places in Los Angeles
There was a limited menu because of father's day, wasn't advertized that if you sit outside the service is different, and there were lots of things they didn't have that were listed on the limited father's day menu. On top of that our drinks weren't refilled.
Great place to celebrate with loved ones. Service was awesome (especially Mark) and food, as always, was delicious.
It was excellent all together. We enjoyed our meal.
Father’s Day menu was very limited and no customization allowed. Experience was better on a prior visit.
I go to Lawry's several times a year, but usually during the week, and the service and food are usually reliable and great.
The Father's Day service was unfortunately really bad. First, nothing was tableside - not salad, not carving. Salad came out very late, very wilted - it was limp and soggy and like an expired supermarket premade salad - also the chilled forks were room temperature by the time we were served. One person got her entree about 20 min after everyone else. So since we waited, our prime rib was already cold. No individual popovers, instead they were cut in to 4s. The kicker is the LIGHTS went out in the dining room (not the entire restaurant) multiple times during the service, and there was no announcement, no concession, not even an apology. It was ~$90/pp and we were sitting in the dark waiting for the missing entree to arrive. Really not a great experience and I felt bad for the fathers in our group we were there to celebrate.
We have been coming here for almost 40 yrs. I was so disappointed with the salad. Other than bland in taste it didn’t seem fresh either. Food was not hot. The ladies bathroom was dirty. I am not sure if I would go back again.
The hostess is horrible. I asked if I could sit inside since I have really bad allergies and that I was willing wait a bit longer if I had to. I informed her that I stated my seating preference when I made the reservation. She said that my preference could not be guaranteed and that if I wanted to sit inside I’d have to wait 45 minutes. I asked to speak to the manager and he was nice enough to seat us inside right away. Some hostesses think they own the place, WRONG!!!
the food was fabulous and the server was excellent
It was my first time here and I ordered the Lawry cut Prime Rib and it was amazingggg. We had a reservation for 4 on Father's Day for a friend's birthday at noon but got there a bit early. We were seated around 10 minutes and promptly looked after. Once the food was ordered, the first dish came out within 5 min with the main entree coming 5 min after that. Eric was attentive and polite. Would definitely recommend and go back again.
Been coming here almost 20 years now. First time being back since the pandemic started. Felt so good to return. Service and experience were wonderful.
Open table asks if you want to sit outside or inside, I marked inside. I arrived 10 min early for my reservation. When we were going to be seated, they were going to be seated outside, I let the host that I requested inside, she replied that there was nothing on my reservation and really it is whatever is available and we would have to wait another 30 min if we wanted to sit inside. We could not wait. The service outside is significantly different. All the food is brought out plated vs. being plated at your table. No spinning salad, no meat cart, etc. Your food is marched out through the entire restaurant, down the stairs through all the people waiting to be seated. The salad was mixed and plated way before being brought out as the lettuce was soggy. The prime rib was cold. Just felt like second class citizens sitting in the driveway.
We had a great time
Father’s Day dinner. Crowded, but we were able to make reservations, however we still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated inside. Eating Outside in the parking lot was all they had available at the time of our reservation. That was fine, but we were surprised at the poor service and amateur feel of the night. It felt like they were not prepared to open again after COVID restrictions - no spinning salad bowl presentation, instead wilted room-temperature salad plates were given us; no steak knives with our prime rib - had to ask for them and then the waitress brought a few and said she would have to “look for more” for the rest of us. What?! We had to ask again for knives as she never came back. Then they didn’t have any Yorkshire pudding available and brought it out after we were already almost done with our meal, and then it was all undercooked and gooey inside! We sent it back and skipped it. Then when we got our bill we saw that they had already tacked on a 20% service fee…for poor, amateurish service from such a reputable restaurant and pricey meal for 7. It was underwhelming and disappointing. Won’t be back for a while. Sad. It used to be a favorite.
Perfect as always
Great job! Yummy but missing table side carving and crisp salad…
Everything was very good. The service was exceptional. The food was delicious.
We haven’t been to Lawry’s in at least 15 years, and we were so thrilled that we were able to have the excellent service and quality of food that we have had ago. Highly recommend the restaurants it will not disappoint!
Superb as always. Fun as always. Best prime rib outside of London itself (where I grew up) as always. Equally great for a friendly business meeting or a fun, upbeat (but still romantic) date. Just love this restaurant!
The food was great, I missed the cart and the salad made at the table, but the prime rib can’t be beat!
After years & years (>50 years) of patronizing Lawrys last night was such a huge disappointment! Understanding the temporary situation with Covid restrictions, NO TABLE SERVICE, we still expected the food to taste delicious as always. NOPE! The salad did not even taste like the traditional salad, the prime rib was so tough we had to request steak knives and the Yorkshire pudding (which I love) was raw & mushy in the center.
Sadly, I left over half my meal uneaten, as did the rest of our party. Service was excellent but couldn’t make up for the horrendous meal.
Very nice restaurant to have a pleasant dinner. Prime rib portions have gotten a lotsmaller over the years but the meal was still filling with a good flavor. Nice date, special occasion spot. Great staff.
Thank you for your review! Coming from you, PickyDiner, it means a lot! Please come back soon :)
Have been here many times over the years. This time was disaster. Salad came with our drinks - we sent salad back. When we got our salad, lettuce soggy, croutons more so - obviously, plated and left sitting until time to serve.
Mashed potatoes were blah , prime rib was ok, nothing to write home about. The horse radish, I just know used to be good - not now. Best part of meal was the yorkshire pudding. Maybe when they go back to using the carts, it might be better.
Was a total disappointment.
