The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

I had the Koji dry aged ribeye. It was excellent. I’d definitely rate it under top 5 steaks I’ve had. The service was amazing. The staff is very attentive and took allergy concerns seriously. I’d rate the exp 10/10. Will definitely go back when I’m back in Austin.

The hostess really rubbed us the wrong way when we came in. We drove for over an hour because it was pouring outside with several street lights were out with power outages throughout the city, we walked in the door at 5:31 for a 5:15 reservation after calling 7 times on the way there with no answer. We went to the hostess stand and told them our party was under “Rachel” someone walked up that we hadn’t been speaking to and said oh “Tracy” and we said no Rachel and she made sure to tell us that she already no showed our reservation because of their 15 minute window (which is totally understandable) she said the table was still available but acted like she didn’t want to seat us because we were 16 minutes late instead of 15. She stated “well you’re going to have to leave before 7 because we have other reservations”. The delivery was just very very poor. If the table was still available why did she even need to mention that she no showed us, also when it’s clearly pouring outside with power outages throughout the city. Just not tasteful and not what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Everything else was amazing after we sat down.

Aba never disappoints! Such a beautiful restaurant, and the food is fabulous. The only negative is the super expensive parking! Aba gives a parking discount of $2, but at $10/hour, if you are a minute over 60 minutes, which you are pretty much guaranteed to do - $18 parking fee is pretty steep. We go to a lot of high end restaurants, and never pay anywhere close to that amount - and those places have valet, versus this being self-parking! FYI - there is some limited street parking nearby at much lower prices - but good luck getting one! We love Aba so much it's worth it - but it is irritating how expensive it is!
