The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent. The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Our server, Christian, was very attentive throughout the evening. We got the charred eggplant dip, which was delicious as always. This time, I tried the Salmon Kebab while my partner tried the Heirloom Chicken Thigh — we’re both very glad we ventured out. The zhoug was the star of the show on the Salmon dish. We’d never tried the Sticky Date Cake before last night, and it was the right amount of crispy, fluffy, and bouncy. Absolutely no notes on the Sticky Date Cake! I also wanted to send a special thanks to the manager, Madelyn Hayes-DeLuca for sharing some gift certificates with me following a previous visit. We finally got the opportunity to use it and try some more delicious offerings!
