But yes, some of the worst service I’ve had a restaurant - we were seated 45 mins after our reservation with no offer of a drink/appetizer for our inconvenience. Service was slow and because 20% tip is already included in the bill, it felt like our waiter was simply tolerating us rather than serving us. He was very slow and took his time. Water came out 20 mins after we were seated. Forgot we ordered a bottle of wine, which was brought out after our appetizers after I had to remind him. We once asked if we could get a salad without oysters to accommodate a vegetarian and he said “we will see how it comes out, maybe it will maybe it won’t?” It ended up coming with the oysters on the side so it was fine but such an odd answer. Anyways I still loved the food - so much so that it managed to elevate my mood after the bad service.More infoBurdellPrice: Very Expensive• Soul food• Oakland•4.5

- GGeorgeSan Francisco Bay Area •26 reviews5.0Dined on Sep 5, 2024From start to finish, the experience was astonishing, almost overwhelming (in the very best way). Even the ingredients that I thought I "knew" were transformed. If you are a cook (even simply a home cook), when dining out you often ask yourself if you could make dishes at home. At Commis the answer for me was a resounding no. That answer — and the fact that the food is so delicious, so surprising, and yet (once experienced) seems almost inevitable — proved that making this reservation was absolutely the right choice. (I have always wanted to eat here, and it was a really good call.) I'll be thinking about these dishes every day until the next time I've saved up enough to return.More infoCommis Dining RoomPrice: Very Expensive• Californian• Oakland•4.8
- KKennethSan Diego •5 reviews5.0Dined on Aug 30, 2024I learned of this establishment from the recent Open Table Michelin Star article. This was my first Michelin two star experience. The dishes were beyond fantastic and the service was great. I will definitely be back.More infoCommis BarPrice: Very Expensive
