Dobson's Bar and Restaurant is a hidden treasure in the heart of Downtown San Diego/Gaslamp Quarter. For the last 40 years, this has been the hot spot for business lunches and frequented by many local and nationwide celebrities. Paul Dobson, the namesake for Dobson's bar and restaurant, is one of America's few professional Bullfighters. The food is California cuisine with a touch of Italian, French, Spanish and Asian cuisine. One thing that both local San Diegans and Zagat can agree on is that this is one of the top restaurants in San Diego. Due to the limited seating and popularity, reservations are highly recommended. Owner Paul Dobson "works a room better than Sinatra", which explains why this "local tradition" downtown remains, "after all these years", a "high-powered, hobnob spot"; the Cal kitchen "serves up delicious, innovative food, along with old standbys" ("have the mussel bisque and think of heaven").

Saint James French Diner offers a charming dining experience with its delightful ambiance and stylish decor. The atmosphere is vibrant, featuring good music, though it can get a bit loud. Reservations are a must as the place fills up quickly. Service: While the staff ensured we received everything we ordered, the service felt a little slow at times. Food: A mix of hits and misses: Starters: The tartare and onion soup were excellent and set high expectations. Entrees: The bouillabaisse boil with fries was flavorful and satisfying, but the ratatouille on the side was disappointing. Dessert: The chocolate soufflé was enjoyable but not particularly memorable. Overall Recommendation: Saint James French Diner is a cute spot worth visiting at least once, especially for its unique vibe and some standout dishes. Despite a few misses, the food is generally good, and the ambiance adds to the experience. Rating: 4/5 stars

Great wines and service for the wine and bar bites tasting. The food was good but the portions we literally just one bite each. It was a fun event and you do get 3 full glasses of your choice of the featured wines. The music was a bit distracting and we were glad that we were seated away from it. The customer service was great and they really did take care of us. We would definitely do another wine event with them.
