Husband-and-wife chef team Bradley Nicholson and Susana Querejazu feature ingredient-forward fare prepared with an elevated approach, influenced by their experiences cooking in acclaimed restaurants around the world.  The ever-changing, seasonal menus of Texas heritage cuisine spotlight local farmers and ranchers and reflect the chefs’ celebration of ingredients prepared with an understated simplicity. Located on the storied architectural landmark, Commodore Perry Estate, the restaurant's name is a nod to the estate matriarch Nannie Lewette “Lutie” Perry.  The experience melds warm hospitality with the convivial spirit of the property’s Jazz Age legacy, transporting guests to a contemporary garden retreat overlooking lush estate grounds. Walk In's Welcome.

Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent. The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Ambience is great, a good place to enjoy sunset and lake view. Food is good! I would consider increasing the proportions of the dishes, since they are somewhat rickety and also more variety on the menu.

First time back here since it reopened and it did not disappoint! Our waiter was really knowledgeable and helpful when it came to making decisions on the menu. We ended up getting the meatballs and clams for starters, both were awesome (my fav meatballs in Austin). I had the blue crab pasta for my entree and that was delicious plus a huge portion so I’ll get more meals out of it, but you could almost certainly split it with someone. The hot chocolate cake was the cherry on top of a great meal. Can’t wait to go back!

Our anniversary dinner could not have been more special at Aba. We started off with marinated olives and feta, accompanied with smoked garlic hummus, and their fresh baked bread was delicious. To top off our little spread of accoutrements we had the chilled cucumber with fresh mint, and a cashew sauce was out of this world. After that we weren’t as hungry, but we opted for the lamb and beef kebabs with a side of brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were a bit too sweet for me with the inclusion of the honey, but my wife loved them.

Everytime I visit, this place gets better and better. Incredible atmosphere, fun, the cocktails are delicious, the service is great, and I could live off of the Yamas chips. My go to spot every time we’ve got company in town!

The decor, service, food, & entire atmosphere was fabulous! The wine suggestion to go with our meal was reasonable compared to the other wines on the menu. My only disappointment was that I made the reservation during Happy hour but the discounts apparently do not apply if you sit at a traditional table and not outside( in 97 degrees) or the bar.
