Independence Day, Thursday, 4th of July 2024 - CLOSEDLove and Salt is a story that begins with Cafe Pierre, a restaurant birthed by Guy Gabriele in 1977 to bring a taste of France to Los Angeles’ South Bay. While Cafe Pierre was a beloved part of the community for nearly 37 years, in 2014, Guy and his daughter Sylvie Gabriele, now the owner of Love and Salt, closed the restaurant to bring new life to the iconic space.Love and Salt is a philosophy: that food needs only two ingredients to be great. It’s a sensibility that informs the feeling in the restaurant and the dishes on the menu — Italian-inspired with Southern California soul. An approachable wine list and classic cocktail program similarly reflect the vibrant SoCal setting of the restaurant, located just steps from the Manhattan Beach pier.

Chicken was excellent! Meatballs very salty and I love my salt, and they were too salty for me and had to pair each bite with something else to tone down the saltiness. Drinks were good but second round of the same order tasted different than the first round. Melon should have been pre-cut. Very difficult to manage as a shared plate on a small four top table with various other dishes. Tiramisu was a bit dry for my taste and could have used a stronger coffee/liquer flavor. I definitely want to go back and try some other dishes. Very loud dining room as it is small and a lot of people talking at the same time combined with very loud music. We went for a business related dinner and it was our first time. If we knew we would have picked a quieter space so we could have a more comfortable conversation.
