The Parkside Grille has been a perennial favorite chiefly because of its always solid food, but in addition to its plentiful free parking, and its magnificent redwood trees. Yesterday we had their halibut special: best ever (including even in Alaska), just perfectly cooked with sublime mashed potatoes and very tender asperagus. As it was a 'special', you are unlikely to get on your night, but it is an indication that the chef is a master. Go, even if it is a bit out-of-the-way, at the very back of Portola Valley: you are unlikely to be disappointed. A slight, very slight, qualification: the service personnel are very busy, always moving, but this sometimes means delays and very abrupt presentations.

My experience with Evvia since 2010 has been one thing. - consistently great. My usual. - Taramosalata, grilled Lavraki, Greek Coffee (metrio) & rizogalo. Every fish - fresh & grilled expertly. Taramosalata (made with bread, not potato!) is perfection paired with thick pita & gardiniera. And the rice pudding rivals my late father’s. Each meal here is like coming home, even though I live on the East Coast.

Wife and I tried the new RH Rooftop after my follow-up appointment at Stanford...and it will definitely be on our shortlist of places to eat in Palo Alto going forward! Sophie was our server and was the perfect blend of personality and great service. Food was great...had Di Stefano Burrata starter, the Mulholland Drive Salad (amazing actual chopped salad!), a side of French Fries and for a desert we shared the Housemade Chocolate Chip Cookies (warmed up!) and the Affogato! The view and vibe of the rooftop patio (both inside and out) are amazing!
