La Plazuela at La Fonda on the Plaza
Delicious steak and enchiladas was especially good tonight. Prepared perfectly and very tasty.
La Plazuela is a magical place for dinner. As kids we used to look in at the lucky people eating dinner there and imagine ourselves in their places.
A great setting in the hotel, but the food was mediocre and pricey as well. Service was excellent but the kitchen was very slow so this took longer than it should. We did not enjoy the special and the waiter understood and removed the charge.
Our La Plazuela visit was, once again, absolutely delightful. Our waiter recognized us from our last visit and welcomed us warmly. We always try to take our out of town guests downtown to La Fonda so that they can experience some of the beauty and elegance of traditional Santa Fe.
I would recommend it as it is in a lovely hotel but I would warn them not to expect too much of the food.
We love this restaurant and have never had a bad experience here. The service is great. The food is out of this world and always unique w/ local NM flare. The restaurant is truly Santa Fe in style and approach. And they offer coupons for birthdays and such that make it all the better. It's an upscale experience but with a casual local feel. One of our very favorite restaurants.
Great service, delicious food. Order the guacamole prepared at your table-- so good! The room sparkles at dinner. A very Santa Fe place to eat.
The usual great food and the service was extremely good
Romance!! The atmosphere is so romantic. The food is delicious. New Mexican cuisine at its best.
The seating was fine. We were old friends Merton with our former boss who was 91.
Service was fine. We had to send back plate ,and we should have more, because the plates were cold and the food was NOT hot. Even when we sent back the worse one, the plate was ice cold and food reheated but NOT hot.
Why would a kitchen send out warm not Hot food on a cold plate?
Not a great experience.
Excellent food, including authentic northern New Mexico dishes, and a great specialty margherita menu. I had a smoky margherita and it was amazing. Th room is a beautiful high ceiling indoor courtyard. The restaurant was highly recommended to us by a friend and lived up to the recommendation in our opinion.
Such an awesome experience at La Fonda. I’ve been dining here for two decades and it just gets better. Our server, Francisco, was excellent...very kind and professional. The food speaks for itself. The ambience is the best is Santa Fe.
Solid family-style hotel restaurant, part of the Santa Fe experience. Typical Mexican-style entrees, nothing necessarily special.
Our waiter was excellent but it took almost an hour to get our food. Way too long. This is the first time we've had this problem there and have been there several times. Also, they were out of avocado which is a serious problem at a restaurant that specializes in Northern New Mexican cuisine. One of their best items is guacamole prepared at the table. One of the reasons we went the other night. So a disappointing evening all in all.
Our family loved the tableside guacamole, enchiladas, crab cake, filet and enchiladas, chicken tortilla soup, 1855 top sirloin, margaritas, and sopapillas with honey! Delicious food, great service, and beautiful ambiance!
Outstanding food and sharp and courteous service. Ingredients truly fresh and well sourced. Amazing wine list at fair prices.
Literally the best Chile Relleno I ever had. I live over 600 miles away and I'm pondering making the drive again just for this meal. Get it Christmas style. So wonderful!
We absolutely loved our dinner! The table side guacamole is a must. Such a treat during the Christmas season with the New Mexico decorations! We have made this a Christmas tradition!
Atmosphere is pure Santa Fe and the food is excellent!
The perfect meal in every way. I am a picky diner and I was so pleased with every aspect of this meal. The hostess had our reserved table ready for us. The waiter Angel was a true professional who had just the right timing for every course. We had the filet and enchiladas which were very good. The guacamole made table side - excellent. About 250.00 for dinner for four including cocktails and wine. The ambiance was amazing in La Fonda. Reservations suggested.
Food was excellent, as expected. The service exceeded expectations and was superb. The options on the menu were great; something for everyone. Definitely recommend finding time to dine here when in Santa Fe.
Both of us ordered the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon and were disappointed that it was over-cooked. To make matters worse, there were two dogs at the table next to us, and they kept barking throughout our dinner. On the bright side, our server was great — polite and attentive.
We loved our first dining experience at La Plazuela. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! You must have the fresh guacamole made right at your table! Really good margaritas too! We will be back!
Service is exceptional and the restaurant is never noisy and is always charming.
Cesar salad was quite good and my husband’s top sirloin was perfectly cooked.the wagyu beef appetizer is minuscule at best. Not for a moment with $16.00.
This restaurant was one of the best restaurants for good value and excellent food. The food is still good but it’s a shame that the restaurant has followed suit and raised the prices like so many other restaurants to gouge the tourists and prices the locals out.
Wonderful place to eat. Drinks used to be somewhat better.
Andres ( I'm not totally sure of his name ) our wait person was absolutely wonderful and made sure we had the best time. We were at the table just next to the kitchen. The Guacamole was the best. The man who made the Guacamole was so friendly. The chicken was really good. The vegetarian dish could use more development. The previous tamales were moist and the masa was perfect. These tamales are artistic but lacked volume and flavor. The Cashew Cake was also lacking in volume! Overall, the dining was excellent. We were having our traditional holiday dinner there at La Fonda and you can notice the change. The Christmas Decorations were sparse and the restaurant was only 70% full for the middle of December at 6:00 pm. The women who greet people were also very friendly. We also had a margarita. I normally do not drink but I was surprised on how little alcohol was in the drink. I only have a margarita maybe once/twice a year.
Our favorite for Friday nights in Santa Fe. Great food service and dining experience
Food, service and ambiance continues to be excellent at La Plazuela. The new menu has many new options, and some old favorites, to please the most discriminating dining guest. A very pleasurable dining experience awaits you at La Plazuela!
We were in Santa Fe for a romantic get away. The service was excellent and my husband enjoyed the chicken fajitas. I had the pork special which would have been much better if it hadn’t been too salty. The peach torte dessert was on the house and was very good. It would have been nice if the lights could have been dimmed a bit. The restaurant was very bright for dinner. Again the server did a great job and was very pleasant but professional. The food at the restaurant the night before was better but the experience at La Plazuela would make this our choice for a repeat.
Prices don’t match food quality.
Good solid meal, although red sauce seemed a little tame
Best Service, great ambiente, always great food, will be back for sure again.
Can’t beat their northern nm selections. They are all really good, but the rellenos are outstanding. Their corn muffins are wonderful. Service is great.
Great food, the space is beautiful
Lovely space. The food is mediocre and I am still trying to figure out how they can charge $17 for their "house guacamole."
Great Thanksgiving exoerience! Margie was wonderful!
Some people tend to look down on hotel restaurants, but this is probably one of the best restaurants period in Santa Fe. And it just keeps getting better year after year after year. We recently dined two evenings here--a traditional Thanksgiving dinner one evening and prime rib and fish another evening. And five breakfasts, plus one lunch. Service, food, and drink are all first class. Thanks La Fonda and La Plazuela for a memorable 2019 Thanksgiving week. You are the best.
Gaspsr was attentive, professional, polite and kind. His timing was impeccable. I would ask for him next time.
Great Margaritas. Really cool vibe in the dining room. Good New Mexico comfort food.
Food arrived at the table lukewarm at best - almost like it had been given a quick pass in the microwave after having been plated earlier. Guacamole was discolored and no flavor. Service was fantastic and attentive in a low key way highlight of the dining experience. A real letdown after hearing glowing reviews from friends for years.
