What Insiders Are Saying
Come to Kokkari Estiatorio in the Financial District to feel like a big shot. Maybe even throw on a suit and tie. It's a Greek temple of lamb.
Just had lunch with a client and both the food and service were amazing. It had been way too long to have that lamb!
For me dinner at Kokkari Estiatorio is a special occasion dining spot. We celebrated my daughter's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed each bite. My only wish is that there would be a larger selection of wines in the $50 or less category.
Fantastic meal. Their whole fish is the best fish I’ve ever eaten!!
Wonderful restaurant in SF. Nice lamb chops and grilled octopus, experience but worth
Wonderful as always. Really great food and always great service!!
As always, Kokkari continues to be the best fine dining experience in town for both value and overall experience. Lamb chops we're not as good as usual, but maybe it's because my wife ordered them medium-well. Let's blame it on that.
Excellent food, excellent atmosphere... Definitely one of the best in SF Bay Area.
Really lovely menu with a wide range of Greek/Mediterranean dishes from starters to main courses. The food did not disappoint, really tasty lamb and fabulous side dishes.
The service was excellent.
Kokkari is next level - always a smash hit! Been going there for years and never tire of their excellence - excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance, excellent experience. Every. Single. Time. We especially love the zucchini cakes, the meatballs, the spanakopita, and the gigantes beans on the appetizer menu, the horiatiki salad, and the goat stew and the souvlaki. But seriously it's all so excellent.
Our first vacation
First rate. Well worth the $100+ per person tab. Although they do not have a dedicated staff for each table, the two person team in our section worked very hard to anticipate every need. Very impressed by the person who worked our table with the waitperson.
Valentines and 15YR Aniversary
It was good
Simply marvelous....never disappoints!
It’s was Valentines Day and our server was a little frazzled. But it was still wonderful.
Chose this restaurant for my wife’s birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. The place was full but our server was excellent, the food was on point and we had a great dining experience. I highly suggest making a reservation in advance if you want to experience a fine Greek meal.
Our waitress Leanna was amazing! It was her first week and she did a great job with recommendations
Excellent. Only one comment (not a complaint), was our server spoke quietly, making it difficult to hear. Otherwise, another excellent experience at Kokkari.
Since I am Greek I can say great authentic Greek food. Too bad it's so difficult to get dinner reservations.
We had the citrus salad, lamb souvlaki, artichoke souvlaki, and the gigante beans appetizer - all was absolutely delicious! The service was outstanding as usual too.
This restaurant never disappoints! Thank you, Kokkari!
Kokkari is an excellent restaurant. The ambiance is top notch, the food is amazing! We had the pork chop, sea bass and roasted chicken and they were all delicious! We were so happy to finally make it here!
The food was phenomenal! One of the best meals we’ve ever had. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great too. It’s worth the wait, i have zero complaints.
Great experience. Food and series’s great. Beautiful decor.
Kokkari is one of the best entire city. Get a reservation, it’s hard, but worth it. The authentic Greek food is second to none. The whole fish is always a great way to go. I had the special goat stew this time and it was rich and extremely flavorful. The fried saganaki is always a must to start the night with.
Had to wait 30m for reserved table
The service and lunch was very good. The take out halibut was too salty and fish was on the dry side. I had a very different experience with this dish in the past and it was a disappointment for me (especially for the price $35.00)
I have been trying to make a reservation for a long time without much success but finally got one. Our family decided to celebrate our Chinese Lunar New Year’s Eve dinner here. Food was delicious and service was excellent!
Kokkari never disappoints in every aspect—food, service, wine, overall experience. We go back often, and we feel the same after each meal.
Have eaten here several times, and will again. However this last dining experience was spoiled by a delay in getting our meal. A long delay, over an hour. And although the multiple apologies were appreciated, remain disappointed because we'd been looking forward to a romantic evening anticipating the high standards of timely excellent service. Next time.
Excellent service and delicious food.
I love Turkhis and Greek food, this is a great restaurant for.
We had the best waitress and the food is mouthfuls of heaven! I have traveled the world and this is my favorite dining experience!
Such a great restaurant. The food is excellent and the service was fabulous. It was a business/fun lunch and you guys knocked it out of the ballpark
The food is consistently good at Kokkari, but I think that without a lot of creativity, the prices are too high. It’s a common problem in the FiDi. I wanted a more memorable experience for my birthday lunch, that I delayed nearly two weeks because it was difficult to get a reservation.
When we walked in, the host didnt greet us . There was no line and no busy at all but the host just looked through paperwork and did not even acknowledged us. we waited for about 3 minutes until someone else walked in who was greeted immediately. The server must of realized that shocked us that she asked someone to seat us. We didnt make a fuss about it but it was very odd and unusual so i have dined with Kokkari a few times and never bad bad service.
When the server came to our table and listed out todays specials, one being a dolmathes with lamb. We decided to go with those but i asked if they had nuts as I have a nut allergy. The host said no and said he would let the chef know of my allergy. We get the dolmathes which my friend took the first bit and I followed. The second i took a bit, my friend had me spit out my bite informing there were pine nuts in them. We let another server know who questioned my allergy “well pine nuts arent tree buts” which i told her I was allergic to all nuts, pine included. Someone else (assuming a manager) stopped by asking if everything was ok. I said yes, but was lucky for that situation. They brought out another plate of regular dolmathes and theb our server came bu and said “im sorry i forgot!” I didnt know how to respond to that so i just didnt. We got our check no sincere apologies, no accommodations- nothing. ): extremely disappointing and I definitely will not be returning. My friend said the same.
Excellent Greek restaurant Loved the roasted lamb and loved the fact that they are roasted over a fire located in the dining room! Unfortunately gave the food 4 stars because the side order of potatoes were under cooked and the starters were really not great value. Small portions and very expensive. Would have rather stacked up on more lamb of sea bass.
Four of us had a very enjoyable dinner with three apps and entrees. The food was very good and the service was great except for the wait (we had a reservation). I don't understand why this is on the list of best restaurants in the country. Although the food was good, it was not special by any means. I wouldn't call this an upscale restaurant, certainly not a five star experience. However, the menu prices were not exorbitant like some places. It was a good value overall.
Not relaxing for such a nice restaurant. They were rolling in and out table tops, setting up tables and taking down tables. The back of my chair was knocked many times which made for many interruptions. Good and service was good.
Not enough veg entree choices on menu. Waiter was not helpful & rude. Aside from that great night.
