First time with my parents for Father’s Day. The food was fantastic and our service was very good for how busy the restaurant was at the time. Everything that we ordered was excellent!
I would definitely come back to this restaurant and try other exciting menu items!
Worst service and experience at Il pastaio. We’ve been regular customers for some time but the staff hired has the worst and rude attitude. We understand everyone wants to sit outside which is why we always have a reservation we’ve always expected to wait even with a reservation but training your staff to be polite and respectful should be the highest priority next to food quality. Amazing Food in LA comes on every corner if you want to keep your business treat your customers with the utmost respect.
We had an early dinner before a performance at the Wallis Annenberg theater. The meal was excellent. Our server, who was quite good, apparently was helping a private party because he would disappear for long stretches, but others, particularly a woman named Heather, jumped in to help. Otherwise, we had a terrific experience.
Have been eating here a lot recently. This night, I have to say, service was lacking. Our server paid a lot of attention to a 2 top of regular Italians, one who actually tipped the maitre d when he was sat.
I ordered a cocktail that the server completely forgot about. I finally flagged down the manager who went to the bar and got me my drink.
This was the case with some food items as well.
Unfortunately, in many Italian restaurants who have Italian servers, they tend to ignore the (What looks like) non Italian diners. In this case, he was wrong, as I understood all of his conversation with the next table.
The food was as excellent as usual, which will get me back there again, but if yet another night of poor and ignored service, it will be my last. Too many really good Italian restaurants in town now to be ignored and creating a poor dining experience.
Although the pastas are always good, and I should have stuck with what works, two of us had dinner salads with shrimp. BIG mistake. Although the shrimp was fine, salad was tasteless. When salad was delivered to table we both said there was no dressing on them. Server said yes there was but brought more dressing. Instead of sending salads back we foolishly added dressing. It was tasteless. we called waiter over who said he knew what the problem was and instead of bringing us new salads, he brought over another container of dressing. Same but this time with vinegar in it. Our bad for accepting this.
I and my family had a dinner last Monday,
The food was very good especially the Truffle Pasta,
The waiter (Nino) it was great professional and very friendly, I Hope to come back soon...
Walter from San Francisco
Enjoyed everything about the place. Able to sit outside and hold normal conversation.
Ate at the outside tables. Friendly busy buzz. Had one of my favorite dishes: the tagliolini pasta with shaved black truffles which was fantastic as usual. Great summer evening dinner. Mix of regular diners like us and tourists also. Always a pleasure to visit
Best pasta place ever!!
Tradition to come for my daughters bday. We sat in the new area and it was lovely
Happy we got to sit outside. Food was good but not as mind -blowing as we remembered.
I like the vibe of this restaurant. However, the food left me scratching my head. I ordered the chicken milanese and it was a dry, big brown object with a couple of veggies underneath. I asked for some red sauce to moisten it and it was a charge of 3.50. I also asked to split a caesar with my friend and that was $3.50 to split the plate. That was sort of irritating. The caesar was good. My friend got raviolis and she said they were ok but not great too. Last time I was here, about a year ago I remember it being really good. I will give it one more try since I love the location and the atmosphere.
Always a great experience !
ARRIVED EARLY for my reservation and was accommodated immediately. Served got to the table quick and took the frst drink order. Allowed us time to catch up with no pressure to order. Food was awesome. Can't wait to return.
Not sure what the fuzz is about. Service was mediocre and food was not great.
Giaovanni made it great, he is wonderful.. Food spectacular... location perfect. Can’t wait to come again.
Heather, your receptionist was able to seat us and make us feel at home..Don’t ever change.. Price is fair..
Amazing food and ambiance. Our waiter Max was so helpful in making suggestions. A wonderful experience
The food, service, ambiance were great! Loved anything I had.
They have delicious Ossobuco. The Veal Shank is very tender. The Risotto Alla Parmiggiana is perfectly cooked, not soggy, but with the perfect texture. The best risotto I ever had.
The special ravioli is very sumptuous too.
The service is excellent.
Great service and pretty good Italian dishes!
Expensive, below average food
Great meal as always. Wait staff are always outstanding, food uniformly well done and atmosphere fun as the BH crowd, normal and weird, descend as the night wears on. Been our standby for years and never fails to be fun and good...
This is our favorite Italian restaurant in the LA area. The food is always excellent , as is the service. One cannot go wrong no matter what they order
The sat us with such a friendly couple they were Awesome from Dallas we had great conversation with them and a great corner table food over the top!
We have been here many times and have always thought the food was good and the restaurant a good value. This time, I was disappointed with my pasta dish and my husband who had the same dish felt it was not up to the usual standard. (I shared mine with our friend who had Joined us.) Our waiter was not very accommodating and when one of our friends who had ordered a gin and tonic mentioned that it was not tonic but soda water, he did nothing. When going over the bill, we realized that we had been overcharged by $50 a piece since we were splitting the bill in half. The bill was recalculated but I doubt if our friends would return. I had made the reservation as it was close to The Wallis where we were headed and we have always enjoyed it in the past. Our friends urged me to write a review.
Every aspect of dining at Il Pastaio is amazing .... expect the best food, wine, service and ambiance, as they never disappoint!!!
Mother’s Day dinner!
The best Italian restaurant by far! Takes you back to Italy! Love and will recommend it!
The restaurant is in a street with a lot of nice restaurants. We were seated outside which was nice. Really professional and friendly staff, nice menu and good winelist. All in all a really nice dinner with a street view (valet parking). Not cheap but good value.
Love this place. Classic!
It was wonderful food and enjoyed the patio
The food was delicious absolutely everything! We were dining with friends we hadn’t seen in a while and our waiter didn’t rush us in the least. Definitely recommend!!
Honestly a little disappointed I look forward coming here when in LA, I came last night and was seated promptly waiting for a outdoor table. As the server who we started with said was being sent home another server will help us. Boy what a terrible server he was replaced with, bad attitude , had little to no recommendations, I asked for more truffle as I see people asking and receiving it online he said $40 more that’s ridiculous he ended up adding small amount after I was half way through. It’s unfortunate I have to find another spot to dine in or cross my fingers to get a better server next time if this server doesn’t want to be there then he should have been sent home with his bd attitude. I asked for water 2 times before he filled glass seriously!!
Always happy to be back at my favorite italian restaurant. Great foods and service.
White truffle pasta in cheese wheel
Great food. Great environment.
I took my boyfriend here for dinner to celebrate his birthday. I had requested outside seating ahead of time and when We got there, they said nothing was available even though there were empty tables outside. Not long after, other people were sat outside in the patio. So that was frustrating. The dishes were very tasty, we enjoyed the food. But, our waiter was so bland and rude. I felt like he was trying to rush us and we just wanted to enjoy our night out due to our usual busy work schedules. It was my first time coming here and he didn’t make my experience great.
We enjoy this restaurant twice a week. Tonight we had a 5:30 reservation. We waited forever for the waiter to come to us. Then he said we need to order everything immediately .
I told him I would walk over to the owner who was nearby and ask him if this was the new policy. He backed off.
I had to get up from the table to find the waiter a couple of times.
We will pass on the restaurant for a while.
My favorite Italian restaurant in LA! I always make it a priority to eat lunch there when I’m in town and I enjoy sitting outside for people-watching in BH. Tortellini de zucca is awesome and the apple tartan for dessert makes for a perfect dining experience!! Yum yum yum!
