Delicious authentic Italian gem with fun people watching. Service is a bit slow but loved by going there and will return
Everything time I’m in LA I make sure I eat here great Italian food...one of the best. Super consistent and I love the fact that if truffles are in season they serve them.
You will not be disappointed. The only thing I would recommend is to make certain you eat on the patio. What a great spot and the food is fantastic.
Good food but the tables are way too close together and the place is very noisy. Not great place to have a conversation.
Love this place. Great food, great location and ask for Felipe’s section. He’s a fantastic waiter.
Best Italian restaurant in La. Would recommended anyone local looking for Great pasta.
Excellent Italian food. Service was uneven, but courteous. Locale was a bit hot. Very noisy. Overall very enjoyable. Good place for people watching.
Amazing food and service! Every single dish was so delicious. Can’t wait to eat here again!!
The rissoto Nero had hardly any rissoto. The apple tart has a thin soggy crust and I don’t what was the apple compliment. Pretty tasteless.
Not as good as before. Too crowded and noisy. The so-called veal was not veal. It was not tender, but tough
Il Pastaio has been disappointing as of late. It seems to have become strangely pretentious and a meeting place for all sorts of weird types and wannabes. And the food is not as good as I remember from a few years ago. Sad!
Excellent food and service
The pasta is freshly made and delicious. The only thing wrong with this restaurant is the tables are so close you feel like you are in everyone’s conversation and they in yours. The noise so close to you from other conversations makes it difficult to talk. For a quiet dinner this is not the place. But the food is wonderful and worth the noise but not as a regular place for me to go.
Troppo caro ma siamo in Rodeo Drive e non si può pretendere di spendere poco!!! Locale un po’ troppobaffollato
Food was good but the portions were way to large for me, but I guess that’s how it is in the US.
The waiter was very attentive and charming.
The only issue I had was my reservation status. I booked through opentable. We got to the restaurant on time and was seated right away. However 30 min into our dinner, I received an email from opentable saying that I didn’t make the reservation. Hmmmm. Well, it was clearly a mistake so I went to speak to the maitre d to ask her to inform opentable that we did infact show up. However, the maitre d was really stupid and the minute I explained her what happened, she said “I don’t trust that app so I never use it”. Well, I made the reservation through opentable, even if she doesn’t trust the app, the restaurant clearly trusts it since they use it to take reservations. She was very defensive and didn’t want to admit there was a miscommunication between the restaurat and opentable. I wasn’t blaming her of anything. All I wanted her to do was to let opentable know that we infact showed up for our reservation. That’s it. All she said was “don’t trust the app” “what matters is that you are here and that’s all”. All she had to say was “Sorry for the confusion, I will take care of it and let them know” or something along that line. She was truly unprofessional and outright stupid. That was the only drawback I had with the restaurant. Food was good and all the other staff were nice and polite.
The service and the food were outstanding. The noise level inside was ridiculous. We were also seated next to an extremely loud who kept on sending her food back. She was disgusting and the waiters were extraordinarily patient and polite. They were notable.
Alles ok soweit nichts spezielles
This institution is fantastic. Food and ambience is perfect! Outdoor seating is best in my opinion. Great people watching. Staff all fantastic! Been here many times and always perfect.
Excellent food and excellent service! Hope to come back some day! I was visiting LA with my husband and kids and went to this fabulous restaurant! We had such a nice evening!
Amazing food and amazing service. Definitely the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. If not in California.
Wonderful homemade pasta. Extremely tasty and a wonderful mixture of flavors. Not sure we needed the reservation as they seemed not interested if we had one or not; but it was very busy by the time we left.
Visiting from Texas with my 14 year old daughter. I’ll Pastaio was a recommendation from a friend. Food & ambience was fine, nothing fabulous. I asked 4 times for a glass of wine before they brought it. The service was not attentive, particularly in comparison to other restaurants we visited. I would not return to this restaurant as their are too many options with better service.
One of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious!
Original service was fine. However when the server went on a break his assistant was terrible. Forgot about our food. When we complained they brought out the food and it was cold. Complained again to the manager who was not much help. Dine there often. Was very disappointed.
Beautiful food but very busy.
Went for my girlfriend’s birthday. Added a note on reservation asking nicely for some sort of dessert with a candle be brought out for her. I even offered to pay for the dessert (not even asking for the usual bday comp) and just wanted to have a candle in it for her. The hostess recognized the birthday and so did the waiter. Nothing was ever brought to her. On top of that, the bill was incorrect. I asked for it to be corrected then charged. Once they brought it back again, it had not changed and was charged already. I had to wait even longer for them to void it and re-charge the correct amount. Food is okay, wouldn’t recommend for a special occasion because it will be far below what you would expect.
Great truffle risotto although costly $75 better than the truffle polenta.
I love the food here. It is excellent . I’ve been coming for years, but now with the expansion, the service was terrible. We had to ask for a setup and bread both of which were brought after the appetizer course so my niece had to borrow a fork. Second glasses of wine were long delayed. We were seated next to a part of 12 and the noise was unfortunate. But again, the meal was delicious.
Food was amazing, service was great, everything good. Maybe not enough room, but it’s typical for European restaurants, so maybe it’s a style.
Awesome place, great food! Amazing service and restaurant
Love the ambience!
Have dined here several times over the years as it’s always on our list when we are on vacation to LA. Food always fabulous and extremely good value considering the location
Very good consistent in their food and always a terrific wines by the glass selection.
Excellent people watching
Amazing Truffle Pasta!
Excellent Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills, expensive but delicious with nice ambiance
It’s one of our favorite Italian restaurants with excellent entrees, salads, & pastas.
The food is amazing. Servers are snob-ish.
It was like a fast food restaurant. They brought our mains whilst we were still eating our appetizers and just stood looking at us. Pasta was less than al denté. Vegetables were ordinary. Overall disappointing. Our expectations were high as we went on recommendation. Impersonal.
