Humboldt Farm Fish Wine Ratings and Reviews
This was my second visit and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time! The calamari was as good as I had in Palau, and the scallops were amazing! My only complaint was that the risotto had a bit too much salt added, and had enough oil in it that I was overfull and couldn't have any dessert! But I'll come back for that dessert!
I've visited Humboldt a few times now and have had lovely experiences each time. Ben the bartender is so friendly and knowledgeable, he really makes your meal an experience, not just "eating out." On my most recent visit Claire took care of us and she provided perfect service. She gave great recommendations and knew a lot about the menu, in addition to being so unbelievably sweet! The food has always been spectacular. The beet salad is delicious! I can't wait to come back.
We have enjoyed frequenting Humboldt over the last few years thanks to their exceptional service and delicious fare. Our most recent visit added yet another enjoyable experience to the list. Initially, I was sad to see the scallops were no longer on the menu, but was delighted to find they are included in the specials and the risotto recipe has changed to include more vegetables. My husband selected the surf and turf option, which was also amazing, but we both concluded that I "won" with the scallops. It was a chilly evening, so we were looking forward to the warm ambiance. However, on this occasion, it seems the air conditioning was on and we looked around to find many of our fellow diners wrapped in their coats. Even so, everything else was top-notch and we even splurged on dessert because the key lime pie is just too good to pass up! Thank you for a fun date night, Team Humboldt!
I have enjoyed every lunch and dinner that I've had at Humboldt. The food never disappoints. The service is always good, attentive but not intrusive. I've been able to get in and out in time to go to a performance but I have also lingered for a leisurely meal. The only downside is the high noise level. I may try the atrium area.
I have enjoyed my three visits to Humboldt's. I write this for management. Each visits makes me less excited about this restaurant. At our last visit, I had the short ribs. They were neither overly tasting nor were they tender. My wife had the whole Colorado bass, she commented nothing special. And while your mixed drinks are good, they are not great. Oysters and chowder are great. It feels that with a little more attention and modification of some recipes, you could be a great restaurant. I like your atmosphere a lot!
First timers, we were Strings regulars, and it was fabulous. Nikhol, our server, was exceptional! Her presentation of the specials menu was so beautiful, we ordered 3 of them and they were exactly how she described them. A wonderful time was had by all of us. We will return. Thank you.
If you are a vegetarian, don't bother eating here. When I told my waiter this and asked for recommendations (since there was not ONE vegetarian entree), he told me they used to offer a risotto, but don't any more. He suggested I order a few sides or appetizers. I did. The shishito peppers were shared by the whole table and were not bad, but a bit greasy. The brussels sprouts I got were burned. I like a good char, but the actual vegetable taste was lost.. it was a plate of black leaves. I also ordered another side, of mashed sweet potato, which had no seasoning or real flavor at all. My family all enjoyed their dishes, so I think the food is good? But for vegetarians, this is a waste of time and money. I'm surprised too, given that the restaurant's name made me think it was farm-to-table.
Everything was delicious, but staff seemed to be a bit distracted/not attentive. We had to flag a waiter down. In addition, the couple next to us were belligerently drunk and arguing the whole time...which was sort of entertaining to watch but they should've been kicked out of the establishment.
We have not visited Humboldt in a couple of years. I forgot what we were missing and will be back again more frequently. We were there New Year's Eve. The food was tasty, creative and well presented. The service was perfect- just enough attention and good suggestions.
Excellent dinner with a couple bumps. Though the Steak Diane was great, it was not technically "Diane." I haven't been able to find real Diane since Rialto dropped it and Catacombs in FC closed (Cooper lounge is close but not quite). Real Diane is prepared tableside, with the sauce adjusted per the guest's taste. Extra training and equipment, but worth the price of admission. We also delayed our usual dinner time just to reserve for the Saturday Supperclub Jazz. But then were seated in the back room- never having eaten at Humbolt before, we didn't know there was a back room. The ambiance was lovely and conversation at a comfortable level, but zero music. Our waiter mentioned it can get very loud with the jazz, but we couldn't hear even one stray note. How about pipe it in?
Now onto the great: the said Diane and braised lamb both tasted excellent, and appropriate sized. Haven't had citrus with panna cotta before but it was very good. Service was the right level of attentiveness, tables not crowded, et al. Parking was easy for us, though I think we lucked out. The restaurant offers valet if you don't want to hunt on nearby streets or like esp long dinners (2 hr street limit).
Definitely worth a repeat, just specify your seating if you want music or quiet in particular.
We had a party of 10 that covered all of the basis. Ages ranged from 7-67, and included a few well traveled foodies. Everyone loved their meals and enjoyed the restaurant. My ribeye was better than 99% of the meals I've had at the elite steakhouses across the country.
Humboldt will be one of our regulars from now on.
For a restaurant that is named "farm fish wine" it was lacking. The apps and "Farm" portion was really good. The "fish" was farmed. If I am billing myself on my name then I expect wild fresh fish...not frozen and farmed (maybe I have it backwards and the Farm refers to the fish and not vegetables). Finally, the "wine" list was just ok...nothing special - not huge- just ok.
I chose Humboldt Farm Fish Wine for a small (5 person) family get together over the holidays. After driving by and checking out reviews, I thought we'd try out the place that replaced Strings. It was a excellent choice. Dining out with hearing aids users is often difficult because of noise levels. The group next to us was a little loud at start, but once they left it was really pretty easy to have a conversation. Everyone was happy with the menu options, the food (ahi tuna salad and the hamburger got especially positive reviews), the wine, and the cocktails. Our server was excellent and let us monopolize the table to closing time without any pressure. Would go back.
Enjoyed a nice Christmas eve meal. Service and food was excellent. Seafood was fresh and well prepared. Oysters and Tuna poke was a big hit at our table. As the restaurant filled-up, it got a bit noisy, but not enough to stifle our table conversation. Only downside was the evening wine special was already sold out, by 5 pm.
We went for an early dinner, before the Blossoms of Light. Our party of four included a gluten free diner, a “meat and potatoes” guy, a foodie and me. We al loved everything we tried. The happy hour choices were only $1 less but excellent. We had the crispy broccoli and truffle fries. The manager insisted we try the smoked trout dip and gave us a generous tasting, gratis. We also had a side of polenta which was divine! My son had the rib eye and said it was fantastic. My husband and daughter in law both had the braised lamb special and loved it. I had the short ribs, which were perfect. We split desserts- key lime pie and flourless chocolate torte with yummy ice cream. We were thrilled with everything we tried. Our waitress, Claire, was fabulous! She helped ensure we had a perfect experience!
Very quaint restaurant that many locals seem to enjoy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food portions were the perfect size and did not fill you up before the main course. Manager stopped by to ask how the food and service were. A bit noisy but expected during dinner hours. Overall great dinning experience.
Great place for a fresh fish special! I had the New Zealand sea bass - wonderful although the server said it came with polenta and it was clearly mashed potatoes instead. It was delicious all the same. Definitely use the Valet parking as the street parking is scarce unless you want a walk.
I so enjoy the atrium room at Humboldt's! It is light and inviting. Even though tucked away from the crowd in the atrium, our server was attentive, gracious and timely. We enjoyed the fried brocolli the most, and the house bloody mary is a good, spicy start to Sunday brunch
This was the second time dining. We used our Denver Dining Passport. Menu options are good and being a salad lover; the salad was outstanding... Our waitress was great; could tell she liked her job. The booth we sat out was not comfortable for me, being 5', but other than that had a wonderful time and experience.
